Here is where you can discuss Cyborg/Jinx 2: Electric Boogaloo in "Opposites." My review to come later, blah, blah, blah. |

The Titans becoming villains was so stupid that it pretty much ruined what was otherwise a slightly better than mediocre episode. |

I didn't see the episode, so I guess it was a role reversal, like Lightspeed was? But, hell, the H.I.V.E. Five and all villains are way more interesting than the "heroes" in this series, any day. Anyway, I'm only posting, as I'm glad to see you around? I thought you fell down a well, or something. |

Sparky's back! We were just talking about missing you a few days ago. The episode was pretty awful. It could've been so good and then they ruined it. I didn't like some of the animation, the role reversals were stupid. Really, the best part for me was when Jinx is crying and her tear streams shoot Gizmo across the room and against a wall. That made me giggle. But they leaked in too much of the standard Go! stupidity into the episode, thus ruining it in the process. |

Stupid question, but did the other HIVE kids have any voice actors, this time? As it seems to be only Jinx and Gizmo doing all the talking, these days. |

So is this basically the worst episode of the series? |

That would be a tall order with this series (if asked, I'm putting "Gorilla" as my worst episode evah). Now, if I liked Cyborg/Jinx, which I don't, I might think different. But it would be nice to get Kevin Richardson (who did Mammoth/See-More) into the voice booth just once recently -- we know he can, because he revived his Trigon role early in the series. But again, I suppose he's really busy, lately. And Jason Marsden reprising Billy, that's a long shot, anyway, as the 2003 series only used him twice and for major roles (while Richardson was obviously more flexible as Mammoth's lesser roles). Or, the GO producers just can't afford the extra voice actors, which is always possible. |

Oh it's bad for sure, but not that bad. It could be way worse. |

I finally saw the episode, and I can honestly say "I've seen worse." I haven't seen 2003's Deception in a while, but I never particularly cared for that take on Cyborg/Jinx, mainly because it felt tacked-on or it was a crack pairing for the sake of it, IMO. (And while Bumblebee had a cameo, they were obviously saving her for later in the season, so Jinx was the only viable HIVE female character for Cy to romance.) Here, there is more of an organic flow, as Cyborg already develops feelings for Jinx (in an amusing creepy stalker way) and Jinx gradually develops them for him. I wish they bothered to devise why Cyborg likes Jinx so much beforehand, but backstory/motivation/development is semi-meaningless in this series, anyway, plus it was all about the promotion from the 2003 series. Regardless, I actually found GO's take rather adorable in a weird and awkward way. Including the lightning kissing, which kinda makes sense if you kiss an actual cyborg and a being who can control probability patterns, via energy discharge. And addressing the usual "Dating Catwoman" social mores that come with the superhero/villain life, which could have been done much worse, or close enough -- I'll give GO a little credit, as the Titans themselves never addressed the subject in the 2003 series, save for Beast Boy/Terra, really. And Lauren Tom does her usual awesome job as Jinx, particularly when she was crying. I'm not saying I like Jinx, between this, Girls Night Out and Lightspeed, I dislike her a lot less now. Meanwhile, Gizmo is apparently the HIVE Five leader, now? As it's the first time it is ever stated in either version, as Jinx was always the unspoken leader in the 2003 version. Curious. And the ending actually didn't bother me, compared to normally. Mainly, as I'll pretend it was the writers being ironic to how the Villain!Titans is the natural progression to the GO Titans being ***hole protagonists (and how the dodgeball episode proved how semi-noble the HIVE is, by comparison). Except, the writers aren't that clever. My only real gripe, the real-life images used or sprinkled here and there. Gizmo with the face of a real baby is disturbing as hell. And did we need the photos of sad dogs and kids when Cyborg and Jinx are walking in moping mode? Their animation models were enough, animators, don't need to add bizarre and clashing art-styles to overemphasize your point. Then again, GO is many things, but subtle ain't one of them. Edit: I didn't know this "insert real-life images" technique was used in prior episodes when originally posting, as I'm watching my way backwards. But my criticism still remains. OMG! I forgot to b***h about those!! I know they have done it before, and it's stupid and lame and cheap really on the studio's part, but they overkilled them in this episode. It was just.. horrible! Draw some backgrounds you lazy bums!! |

If you don't see me for a few weeks, just pretend that every single new episode discussion topic has a post from me that says, "Well, that was utter garbage." I don't have that much to say about this show. Other than some of the voice acting and the occasional cute moment, there's nothing there. This show plays on a screen and ends. That's it. It is not a show anymore. It is a thing that I endure every single week and forget about. It barely registers anymore. I actually had to pause for a moment and try to remember if I even watched the Brother Blood episode last week. Wait, did that episode air last week or did the Terra episode air last week? Oh right, Valentine's Day. It must have been the Terra one. See, I can't even keep that straight. That is how little I care about this show. Edited by Sparky 2.0, Feb 22 2014, 04:24 AM.

In that regard, I can't really blame you, Sparks. If you like, though, there are other sections of the forum. We have a couple people who never venture from the General Discussions section. There is comics stuff, and talking about the old TT series, too. You seem like a pretty smart person, good conversation. We like having ya around. |

What they said. Oh, posting a point I didn't before: whose singing is worse: Beast Boy or Cyborg? Man, Cyborg's little ditty about Jinx sucked hard, here. |
