Finally saw the episode, today, and...

On the one hand, it's really nice to see Tom Pugsley write for the series again. On the other, I'm not crazy about Raven's jerkass ness, even if it's explained/justified by her overuse of her magic. I only want to discuss one key aspect, as it would affect the climax: Raven and her MLP fetish. As the dialogue said, "you're the only thing that keeps me sane."

It was cute initially, I gladly admit. These days, especially with that line, it wouldn't be hard to conclude that she's using them as an major emotional crutch against her wacky teammates, and it comes off as beyond disturbing. (As for what Pugsley did here, it was clear foreshadowing to stop Raven's out-of-control self later in the episode, and nothing else.) If this was a more serious series -- what a joke --- it would deconstruct this properly and highlight Raven's apparent isolation, self-imposed or otherwise, and dependency on these figures, but no, "Raven likes Ponies, it's funny!" And it does confirm what Nev said about GO!Raven being there for only Twilight Sparkle jokes.

And poor Robin. Between this and later with Legs, the series really needs to stop its "abuse Robin" fetish or cut back. Understandable here, as he was sleep-fighting and hurting his teammates as a result, which makes sense for a fighter character like him to have. But a much better plot would have been Robin using the sleep-fighting to vent his ongoing frustration with his teammates as he can't when he's awake, vs. his fighting fictional enemies within his dreams. Oh, well, missed opportunities aren't new to this series.

All that aside, the cameos by Kyd W., Control Freak and Plasmus were really cool. And a little weird to see Killer Croc alongside them, but still awesome.

And no comment about strangely sexy humanoid!Princess Silkie.
