Totally wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I actually enjoyed it. Robin got beat up on, which I totally think Go!Robin deserved and I love love love Happy. |

It was mediocre, which means that it's probably in my top 5 episodes. Tara Strong did a really good job with each of the Ravens. I especially liked the lazy Raven. It's too bad that the Ravens barely interacted with each other, though. "You yell too much!" - Red Raven to Cyborg. Yes! Thank you! He's been so annoying lately. I would've liked more interaction between them as well, but I guess they were sick of each other since they are always with each other. |

I thought the same thing. Finally saw the episode, last night, and I largely enjoyed it. And it's clear Red Raven stole the show, so to speak. It's amazing that it's been 10 years that the Emoticlones finally got a TV sequel. (Yes, they were in Go, but don't know about the canon aspects or if fans regard that as canon). And frankly, they were rather engaging in this version, except for Lazy, but she had a good reason not to be. And why didn't she interact with that weird-ass spirit of the couch that Wolfram set up, given Wolfram wrote this and Dude Relax? Feels like a missed opportunity. My only issue, and it's not the episode's fault, was the first overworld chase sequence, featuring Benny Hill music. Only in that, "how many people in the show's demographic knows what that music means?" And Benny Hill wasn't for kids, per se, not really. Which could be a nice Parental bonus, except... how many people know who Benny Hill is, off hand, anymore?* (Of course, if GO could pull off a Fawlty Towers reference, I'd be amused.) I'm not complaining, as I like Hill and his shtick, but I'm just bemused by the inclusion. Just as I was with the Graduate window shot reference in 2003's "Betrothed." As for Flirty Raven's kissing booth, Robin and Starfire cock-blocking that, I'll let you guys sort that out. B) *In fairness to GO, the 2003 series also referenced Hill in the second Mad Mod episode, so there's nothing new, there. |

I am so behind, it's not even funny... I figure that if they don't get the Benny Hill ref, they won't get a lot of other references in the show, either. I hardly get them, but then again, I've hardly got any comic book knowledge. |

I didn't get the Benny Hill reference... and I watched Faulty Towers.... I must not have paid enough attention. Though, you catch these things when I miss them often anyway. |

Well, it doesn't hurt that I did occasionally watched Benny Hill on Comedy Central, when I was much younger. (Can anyone imagine that, these days, with Comedy Central?) But I would have figured it out, anyway... probably. But after years of watching MST3K, I don't begrudge anyone who misses a particular reference (and I missed my share on MST3K, at least for a long, long while). And in turn, modern references, I half get, because I don't have much use for modern pop culture, anyway. So, I don't feel too bad if I miss it, anyway, or I'm done beating myself up about it, as I might have, 5-10 years ago. Now, of course, there are shows, where you have to actively look for these things. It's whether it's worth the payoff is another subject for another day. |
