Here is where you can discuss the GO introduction of Terra in "Terra-ized." Any other reformatting to be done, later. My commentary to be on a separate post, etc. |

Robin's tests didn't make me laugh Still better than the episode with his staff Ashley Johnson's good voice acting was a plus She was good recently as Ellie in The Last of Us I have nothing to say about Terra otherwise Can't wait until this show meets its demise She's just evil and there's not much else there If she's working for Slade why should I care? Raven is still the only Titan that I enjoy But I have no idea what she sees in Beast Boy Maybe he looks good next to Cyborg and the Boy Wonder Pairing them up in the original show would have been a blunder But here I don't give a s*** because I'm not that invested Half of these episodes or more I have detested The dodge ball episode next week sounds like fun But they'll manage to screw it up and I'll be reaching for a gun Not sure why I'm rhyming it's just for kicks So I'll just end this by saying, "Just give us season six." |

Huh. First time I read a negative review as a poem or a potential song. The internet is full of firsts, isn't it? Anyway, I didn't see the first half, but with the preview clip, I got the gist. While it played out in "it's the GO take on the Comic Judas Contract, like Dog Hand played out the Terror of Trigon," which is fine, but was Robin also fooled by Terra in this? Which, I suppose, is more proof of "they didn't watch the 2003 series," since he had his issues with her, besides Raven. (As any viewing of Aftershock Part 1 would tell you.) I'll go ahead and say I hated the ending, as Nev was right, "aw, Raven's jealous, teehee," and the "yes, she does like Beast Boy, after all." So, you win this round, Beast Boy/Raven shippers. Good for you, I guess? Edited by Killer Moth, Aug 20 2013, 10:28 PM.

I dislike BB/Rae as a couple, but the way they revealed Rae's crush with a simple smile wasn't too bad. I was expecting some really dopey scene where she walks into her closet and she has a shrine for Beast Boy in there or something equally stupid.

I agree with this. It was a sweet way to reveal the crush. The rest of the episode was lame though. But let the BB/Rae shippers have their moment. I've always been one to say that I believed that Raven had a crush on him at some point. I stick to the idea that she is better suited for Robin (Maybe not Go!Robin, but I don't know that I would wish him on anyone at this point) and I think she sees that later on as well. A crush is nothing. They come and go. |

Raven IS better suited for Robin, in the same way that Hermione is better suited for Harry....But it STILL WON'T happen. I also dislike BB/Rae, they just don't match, just as much as I dislike Jack/Miko (and I absolutely LOATH and DESPISE the Cannon HP pairings) I gave up seriously shipping Titans after Tokyo, and now, I just don't care. If the writers want to stick to the comics that religiously, then fine. Though I do agree with the Original Poster's view that this show needs to die. I only saw part of one episode, and that was enough. And Robin wasn't suspicious of Terra in this version? What's wrong with the writers? The only pairings I've shipped that really survived have been Razer/Aya (GL), and Percy/Annabeth (PJ&TO/HoO) and that's only because neither character had competition (Ok, Annabeth had a BIT of Competition, but not much) |

I would concede that point, as it had a lot more subtlety (which is ironic, as this show isn't known as "subtle"). However, at least, the Beast Boy/Raven pairing might have an actual shot in this series, compared to the Robin/Starfire one, which seems completely one-sided on Robin's part (for now). God only knows what will happen, should they bring up Malchior or Goth Boy as other romantic interests for Raven. (Don't know about the former, but "Titans In Love" gave a good look at the latter. Then again, the NTT shorts and GO seem to be in different universes anymore, in terms of form and function.) Edited by Killer Moth, Aug 21 2013, 07:28 PM.

Finally had a chance to view the episode in full. If one goes with the original intent of Comic Terra (evil hiding in plain sight), then actually, the episode is a rather decent adaptation of her and the Judas Contract. After being used to sympathetic Terras in the 2003 series and the comics (Terra II and Atlee), it's a refreshing change of pace to see a Terra who is evil and loves being evil. Curiously, though, GO!Terra seems to be an independent operator ("The villain world will pay a lot for the Titans' secrets!"), with no foreshadowing of Slade, at all. And yet, technically, this is true with the comics, as her back story had her as one before she became involved with Deathstroke. Outside the ending, which I didn't care for, because of personal bias, my only potential issue was "why didn't Amy Wolfram write this?" Only in that she wrote all of Terra's episodes in the 2003 series (with one exception, Aftershock Part 1), so wouldn't it make sense for her to write GO!Terra's first episode (considering she wrote quite a bit for GO, already)? Not to disparage the episode writer, Eric Rogers, who did fine, yet in terms of continuity alone, it should have been Wolfram. And the episode had a few other cute bits, like Robin waking up NOT in his uniform (and his cheery morning disposition, which is carried from The End 1) and Cyborg and Starfire admitting to watching daytime talk shows together. It's weird how the small bits seem to be more entertaining than the actual overall plot of most GO episodes, but take what you can get. And, yes, Robin was annoying with his "Titan Test!" sneak attacks, but compared to some of the lows he has been in during this series, this was rather mild. I think this is what is keeping me watching the show. They are just worth it enough. |
