Here is where you can discuss the female Titans painting the town red in "Girl's Night Out."

My analysis/commentary/opining to be on future posts.

Alright, so this was actually really cute. Faith not restored, but this is a start. This is the first episode I have really enjoyed since Dog Hand. This is the type of stuff I wanna see. Fun stuff where they aren't being absolutely horrible people to each other.

I enjoyed it. Raven is easily the main draw of the show for me, but this was probably Starfire's best showing so far. Sooooo many adorable moments at the beginning with Raven. The Titans just having *gasp* fun and playing off of each other in fun ways is all I ever really wanted out of this show. Come to think of it, this is actually the first episode that is solely about the Titans having fun. I'd love an episode where the Titans go to the beach. It's that simple. Just let the Titans have fun with each other.

(They really should have cut out the boys' subplot. Yelling and randomness do not bring the funny.)

Agreed. I would have preferred ambiguity of what the boys did, instead of what happened: them acting like total tools. Come on, Amy Wolfram, I know you're better than that.

While it would have been more appropriate if Rob Hoagee write Jinx's first full episode (since her character seems to be more his creation than anything else), Wolfram did a good job with her. She was most enjoyable... even more enjoyable than the Titans themselves. (Though, yes, Starfire and Raven were fine to watch, as well.) Having Lauren Tom reprise the role didn't hurt, either.

Did anyone else check the insignia on the prison facility, as it looks a lot like the H.I.V.E.'s hexagonal form?

I'd have more observations, but I didn't catch the last third of the episode, hope to do it, this weekend.

Well, if you two say it's pretty good, then it'll probably become my favorite, because I seem to be the one enjoying the series the most here.
I am an ornery cynical old bastard, so that may have something to do with it.

I dunno if I'd say the episode was "good." I think about the best comedy episodes of the original show and I'm like, "Wow, this show will never reach that level." Even a lesser comedy episode like Bunny Raven had much better animation and a lot more creativity.

Sure, it's not as nicely done, but the resolution is better, and the animation is smoother and flows better.

Okay, finally had a chance to re-watch the episode, last night.

One of the reasons the episode clicked is that it is the most Animated Jinx and the female Titans have ever interacted in any meaningful way. In the 2003 series, all they did was "Attack Pattern Alpha!" and 'Titans GO!" (I'm not counting Deception, because Jinx didn't know Stone was really Cyborg until the finale.) And unfortunately, Season 5's truncated nature couldn't really explore the possibility of Jinx adjusting to being an honorary Titan, though, the Go comics was able to pick up the slack. If only for that, it worked better than I thought, especially the Jinx/Raven rivalry (as it was finally fleshed out or at least partially).

The episode was worth it, if only Jinx telling Raven, "you're such a drip." And the "free kittens in the parking lot!"

Not sure what to make of the "Raven smacking Starfire onto the floor to get rid of her" or the "Starfire throwing Raven through a wall," as I found those a tad jarring. But then, as long as the female Titans get into the slapstick (equal opportunity, etc), I can live with that. Although, Raven punching that Whack-a-doodle mascot like she did, that was completely uncalled for. She should have simply ignored him.

I figured that was done for comedic effect. It was a little jarring the first time, though.

I never cared much for Jinx in the original show prior to Lightspeed. In fact, the show never really had a truly great villainess. I couldn't stand Blackfire, and Terra worked better as a hero than a villain.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't like Blackfire. Sparky made me realize, there nere was a serious Titan villianess. Damn. He's right.
That could have been Ravager's Season 6 role...

That would've been an amazing season 6. I might have to make that an epic fic.

I'm already planning it out. I have novels and other fics, so I don't know how long it will take.. but I am doing this.
