This was on the s8 FL as a fan kindly lent them to us. I checked the links and they still work but just in case, I uploaded them on to my Photobucket account to stay permanent. I also fixed them with Auto Enchance and used Picture It! to sharpen the focus so they should be clearer. If you don't like it, use your own programs instead. The issues correspond to a story in the second volume of New Teen Titans #36-39. After the final showdown with Brother Blood, and former Blood minions Nightwing and Raven reunited with their teammates, they began to move on. In the aftermath, the Titans discovered the records of Blood and revealed the long-term mental hold that the villain had on Dick Grayson, and Dick also reconciled his distaught and dissolving relationship with the returning Starfire (Kory Anders for those of the alter ego lifestyle), to a degree but refused to resume their romantic relationship until Raven served as a mediator and brought the lovers back together. With that resolved, Raven herself mused about her future, her wardrobe (with a white cloak - reflecting her new cleansed persona), and her new enemy, the behind the scenes criminal called Wildebeest, who used a series of Wildebeest robots to commit petty thefts, while the 'real' one controlled them from remote. Starfire lost her temper and fired a starbolt at a Wildebeest, unaware there was a man inside. The Titans are arrested for murder, as the Wildebeest gloated over his victory at framing the Titans. Meanwhile, Raven thinks that she is in love with Dick Grayson as she remembered how he helped her over the recent Blood incident. The Titans are released on bail except for Starfire, who is being held for the murder of the man in the Wildebeest suit. Nightwing and Raven investigated and discovered the man in the Wildebeest suit was a scientist named Jonathan Surrey, who developed remote-control exo-suits. Further investigation proved the radiation that killed Surrey was much higher than anything generated by Starfire's starbolts. As Nightwing and Raven investigated, Raven unwittingly used her emotion powers and created a pheromone effect for the Teen Wonder and shared a kiss with him. She believed it to be love. Nightwing then tangled with the Wildebeest, who later escaped after he brutally trounced on the former Teen Wonder as the Titan protected Raven and with this action, the empath truly began to gel her feelings for the battered hero as she used her empathy to heal him. There is enough evidence to clear Starfire, but all leads to the identity of the Wildebeest proved to be dead ends. The Wildebeest vowed to exact revenge on the Titans. Kory and Dick become concerned for Raven, who is convinced she and Dick Grayson are in love; Kory agreed to address the situation. Kory and Raven teleported to tropical Tahiti, where Kory convinced Raven that the empath does not love Dick Grayson in the manner that she thinks she does; Raven is at first embarassed, but the incident deepened the friendship between the two women. That's the arc but still killing the potential of a love triangle or potential relationship off in four issues, does rather tip Wolfman's hand (R/S aside) but at least what he delivered, was well done, if not melodramatic (blame his writer's block). Anyway, "now you know...the rest of the backstory." Here you go. I'll img tag the good ones. I'm also going chronologically if possible as I may know what is in order. Reveling Posted Image Raven in a quiet moment while Dick/Star muse on the next level of the relationship. Savior A showdown with the Wildebeest and Dick showing his protection once again. Empathy Posted Image Raven showing her empathy and it bleeding into a chance at love. Starfire being melodramatic (albeit justified) but otherwise... Raven reeling from the aftereffects and Wildebeest on the rampage. Mission: After the prosecutor rests, Dick and Raven begin their plans to uncover the conspiracy and Raven sinks deeper in her indulgence. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image And ending with the kiss, plus Starfire reflecting on her situation. (Don't worry, she won't be in jail for much longer.) Extras: Dick being brainwashed by Brother Blood and reunited with Raven while Arella confronts Mother Mayhem. Dick plummeting while Raven follows to catch him in time. Robin swooping in to save Raven while the others are fighting Brother Blood Part 1. Robin swooping in to save Raven while the others are fighting Brother Blood Part 2. Update (8/12/2012): I fixed the broken links and removed the occasional anti-Starfire bias line (the latter to my past shame). It should be noted that the narrative had a temporary break in #38, due to a crossover with Infinity Inc., which then resumes in #39. In recent years, I personally bought both issues #37 and #39, so I can convey the proper context (and will so revise the thread eventually). Apologies for the wait. |

Well, let me ask one thing- Posted Image Is that a kiss on the cheek from Dick? I think so- what with his eyes closed- but it's rather open to debate. Raven was just so happy when she thought Dick loved her. Happier than I've ever seen her. It pulls on my heartstrings.

I think it was a friend kiss, play into the context of Raven being free of her father and her stint from Brother Blood in the words. That's just my take on it. I have to admit, it was rather odd seeing Raven be so happy and indulging herself compared to her usual tabula rosa state. I don't know why Wolfman deviated from his R/S master plan but I'm happy he did, however brief. |

Hmm... when Raven thought to herself "Good." and "Very good.", it kinda sounded like she had this sinister motive... you know, kinda like how villains remark when things go according to plan? And the wavy balloons... I'm wondering how she was meant to sound like in the comic. Characters like Xialoin Showdown's Wuya and the original He-Man's Shadow Weaver comes to mind for some reason... what's your take guys? |

Wow. I think that's pretty amazing. I mean seriously. So many people say that RaexRob could never happen and they use the comic to back themselves up. But if they really knew what they were talking about they'd hit themselves for not eeing it. At least, that's how I see it. :) |

I can't say I didn't think the same when I first saw that. Just added to the melodrama of Raven's maudlin thoughts, I think. But yeah, careful, kalika as the 80's were the last time comics had good writers. I'd like to take that seriously. |
