BANNER ELK — Invest in a wool wardrobe in moderation, this worm advises.

We’re in for a fairly mild winter, that is, after an initial three weeks of very cold and snowy conditions, according to the prediction of the winning worm at the 38th annual Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk this weekend.

As the winning worm in the championship race Saturday, Twinkle Toes, raced by Rebecca Perree, of West Palm Beach, Florida, earned the honor of making that sacred prediction, per festival tradition.

Looks like there are opposing wooly views in that article, dennis - one said snowier than the other. :D

The indicator i've used for awhile is a squirrel tail.... if the squirrel's tail is real bushy, it means a cold winter.... havent seen any squirrels around lately - but i'm watchin' for 'em.

Farmers almanac predicts a pretty normal winter in terms of snow and temps.

Weather channel is saying could be a milder winter for the midwest with el nino...

:cold:
