I've found some websites dealing with health issues among Native Americans--particularly the prevalence of diabetes.

The links below are on the serc.carleton.edu website:

I wish this was more recent but the title is Diabetes in American Indians of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

Diabetes has been emerging as a major public health concern among Native American communities in the United States for the past 40 years. The Pima Indians in Arizona currently have the highest recorded prevalence of diabetes in the world. On average, American Indian and Alaska Native adults are 2.6 times more likely to have diabetes than non-Hispanic whites of similar age. A new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Indian Health Service (IHS) reveals dramatic increases among young American Indians and Alaska Natives and raises concerns about the impact of diabetes on future generations of Native Americans.

The Diabetes rate is extremely high in Mexico, whose population is mostly Native American.. might be because of genes, or might be an emotional thing too.. remember hearing that diabetes is about wanting to hold on to the past, to living in the sweetness that isn't anymore, and that the village with the highest diabetes rate in Mexico is one which was moved from a site flooded by a lake. Every year there's a pageant in remembrance of the old town, and people live in regret.. that actually applies to the way NA culture is plowed under, and the high ambient level of oppression.
