I received this email from Manataka this morning. As you know, Manataka seldom asks our wonderful members, supporters and readers for assistance. Now we must. For the first time in history, a large association of religious leaders from across the country has opened its doors to learn more about American Indian Spiritual beliefs. Manataka has been invited to give 16 hours of intense lecture. Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish religious leaders will for the first time formally recognize American Indian spiritual beliefs and will actively work to find ways to honor the ancient traditions. This is an opportunity for people of all walks of faith, especially ministers and chaplains, to correct genocidal policies of the past, open their hearts and minds to all children of the Creator, and forge a new path for the sake of our children’s children. It is our hope and prayer that this program will serve as a template for more presentations to a broader audience of religious leaders, lay persons and the public. The value and far-reaching social and religious affects of this project are enormous. I have only one thing to say about this, "Proceed with extreme caution!" I can see the good that could come of this, but knowing organized religion like I do...... I shudder to think that they would use these sacred beliefs to revitalize the cash cow of the church. I have heard there could be news coming soon that will shake the foundations of the church and cause everyone to re-evaluate their belief system, but history dictates it has been and always will be about two things, control and the money. I will send up many prayers on this. Griz
