Update regarding the software upgrade: https://www.taito.co.jp/corporate/topics/news/3122 They will offer a shipping box to ship the unit to them (free of charge). They will then upgrade the unit without erasing saved data. Applications for this procedure start on March 26. Things that will be fixed (translation from google): - Correcting a problem that makes Yamanote line # 02 205 series unable to proceed at Ebisu station - Fixed bug that suddenly stopped error during play - Collapse of objects displayed on the map and modification of displayed objects - Fixed a bug in which the sun is displayed partly at the stage of nighttime - Fixed a bug in which choices in front of the Yamanote Line Osaki station in the conductor mode are displayed only for a moment - Reduction of reduction in processing speed at the next place that occurs during train travel: ---- Where multiple lines are displayed ---- Where multiple vehicles are simultaneously displayed ---- Where to enter the station ---- When displaying in outer view For now, all of us out of japan are out of luck (unless we just do a refund on Amazon...)

New update: https://www.taito.co.jp/corporate/topics/news/3128 Form to request the rma box to submit the unit back for updating has been published: https://form.taito.co.jp/a.p/335/ Units will be returned in about one week after they are received. Sadly, as expected, we are out of luck if we are not in Japan. I hope the upgrader gets published some day |

How unfortunate. I just received an email from amazon.jp, but essentially all it says is that we should refer to Taito's customer support. Let's be honest here, if Taito had any intentions of ever releasing a downloadable patch, they wouldn't have issued a recall in the first place... Anybody who's fluent in Japanese willing to give em a call? Maybe I'll try to send them an email or something in order to explore possible options for international customers. From what I can tell the issue lies within the fact that the online form requires you to select a prefecture, right? Other than that I haven't seen them address international customers in particular. As stated on the box of the product, it's "FOR JAPAN ONLY" so they have no obligation to attend us. As Amazon is aware of the problem, it should be easy to get at least a partial refund for the inconvenience of not being able to upgrade it ![]() |

Wow! That's unexpectedly nice news! Thanks for the update - looking forward to hearing what they come up with! PS actually, what did you email them and where did you email it? If more people email them about international units, maybe it would help! |
