Hi, anyone could tell me the exclusive lines of the Densha de Go 3 compared to the other ps2 versions (pro 2 & Final). Does the graphics of this game (on ps2) are less beautiful than the pro 2 & final? Thanks for your answers ;-) |

As far as I can tell, the exclusive lines are the Sasaguri Line, the Sanyo Main Line (JR Kobe Line) and the Sobu Line. The graphics are...different. Much more of the game engine uses 3D models compared to most other DDG titles, and you can adjust the time of day at which you want to play. But unfortunately, it's basically a straight arcade conversion, so there are some very basic things you can't do, like going back to the previous menu if you make a mistake, or the one that really annoys me - adjust music/effects/voice settings (so most of the time you won't be able to hear what the in-car announcements are saying). Sorry, I've just seen that you wrote exclusive compared to Pro2 & Final. In that case the exclusive lines are the Sasaguri Line, Kagoshima Main Line, Sanyo Main Line (JR Kobe Line), San'in Main Line, and the Sobu Line. The ones I listed originally were exclusive compared to the series as a whole. |

Thanks for your reply ^^ , all the lines are exclusive if you don't have the ps1 titles? I can see 2 drive modes written in japanese (the 1st one maybe "arcade" with 4 lines, and a second one with 3 districts: Kanto etc and many choices of trains & of courses lines). Do you think you can translate me this screen? Last question, I have heard about accidents in this title if you don't break enough (collisions between the train & some cars/trucks), do you know in which line I can see that? |

Don't need a translation, I found it myself with google translate ^^ Are you sure that all the lines are exclusive if you don't have the ps1 titles? It seems I can find some same lines in the Densha de go Professional 2 ps2... I found some movies about the accidents in this game, this accidents seems to be aleatory isn't? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syKmnyDY5RA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2L7hskxU7k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPcBuZw10-A |

No, you're right - the Kagoshima Line is indeed in Professional 2, though it's different and more extensive in that game. And I omitted the Chuo Line as that's been in so many others. Yes, I've never encountered a level crossing incident in DDG3, I'm pretty sure in one of the DDG instalments, if you arrive too early at consecutive stations, you get such an incident so as to level out the time you've gained, and so I assumed it was the same in this one, but it seems you're right, it's just random. Your asking for a translation prompted me to play this game for the first time in years, and I don't want to discourage you, but I found it really lacking in both polish and substance. I mentioned before that it's pretty much a straight arcade conversion, and this means seemingly no unlockable content, and strange behaviour ingame, like when you start off again after stopping at a station, the brakes remain at whatever level you stopped at (as the arcade has the lifesize handles and they will obviously stay in whatever position you leave them). The worst is when you get game over from an ATS alert and choose continue, as soon as you're back at the station, the game shoves the power level to maximum, and you lose points before you've had a chance to do anything else! It's also horribly unfair; for example if you get a red light sprung on you, it wastes so much time that you'll end up getting game over *every time*. And the muffled sound makes it much more likely that you'll miss important information and end up losing time as a result! Plus each region has just two routes, and I found the driving to be really not much fun. On a completely different note - nice avatar, I love Enoshima! Edited by CLU82, Sep 22 2014, 07:58 PM.

As a little aside, if you press the Select button in the Kyushu line select menu, you can choose between JNR and JR livery on one of the old diesel locomotives. |

Last time I encountered a level crossing incident in DDG3, in the same line/train of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2L7hskxU7k I've arrived too early on each station of this line, but I also think it's random. Ask you for a translation like that was no really polite indeed, sorry, but you seem's to know well this game ;-) You are right, It's an arcade conversion with many imperfections. I don't like the fact that you can't go back in the menu. But I found this game more alive than the other densha de go games: you have to honk the people who are too close to the train, the people animations when the train closes his doors. The weather can change during the game, the crossing incident. Thanks for all informations & about Enoshima (I love that line on ryujouhen), I have a dvd ~20min of that line (buyed when i was in holidays in that place). I would like to share it in that forum. Stay tuned ;-) Edited by keneda2002, Sep 15 2014, 09:15 AM.

Despite the 10-second bonus, I bet that player got game over after that level crossing incident, such is the unforgiving nature of this game! I was getting ready to provide you with a translation, but then you posted another message saying you'd worked it out. Feel free to ask me for translations anytime. Looking forward to seeing that Enoshima video! |
