JR East Tokyo Train Departure Melody Ringtone Collection; [ZIP Inside]
Topic Started: Aug 31 2013, 07:41 PM (1,705 Views)
Mr. B

After playing various games in the Densha de Go! series that depict the Yamanote line, I took an interest in the departure melodies that play atthe train stations. I found clean copies of dozens of different jingles. With a little help, I've managed to translate the melody names into English with some semblance of accuracy. Posted for your listening pleasure, a collection of 108 melodies and sounds in ringtone ready form.

This YouTube video gives you a good idea of the sort of thing included here.

That is very very cool! I've been wanting something like this for years.

Are you an angel or something??

EDIT: Do you also know where to find the menu/background and opening/ending music from the the games of the Densha de Go series (3, Final, Professional, Shinkansen, Ryojohen, etc.)??

I've only found a handful on Youtube, and was hoping for more.

Here are a few examples:
Example 1
Example 2
Example 3
Example 4 (BGM)

We have similar sun tans, but that's where the resemblance ends. I wanted a collection like this too and didn't find one, so I just decided to do it myself. I got some help with the title translations when I figured other people might also appreciate such a collection.

As for the video game music, Zuntata Records put out a handful of albums with music from the games but I don't think they're comprehensive. Some of them are on iTunes. I would imagine the CDs sound much better than the actual in-game music since the PC versions are 8 bit, 22,050hz PCM files.

This should get you started on that: http://www.google.com/search?q=Densha+De+Go+zuntata

[edit]
Also in the course of my search for departure melodies, I came across these two tracks. I can pass along copies if you're interested.
