I'd like to see a completely original Densha De Go! game set in fictional cities/towns, while keeping the same pickup/drop off gameplay of the games of the series.

I'd be fine if it was set in futuristic Japan or another altered time/place, much like Jet Grind Radio. I'd be fine if they lighten up the rules and penalties to get it to sell to a wider audience. A game like that could have potential to sell in the West. Well...any game has "potential", but something like this could turn some heads to and give it more attention.

Hmmm, maybe - it'd certainly have a following amongst a certain section of the train/vehical gamer community.

I think for many gamers, though, myself included, it's the ability to 'operate' authentic trains around real or familiar tracks, as apposed to something imagined. It's all about escapism. becoming somebody or somthing else for a couple of hours.

Personally, when it comes to this genre of games, I'd rather stick to reality.

It sounds like taking off everything that keeps me hooked on the Densha series :(. In Densha I like the most real Japanese locations, challenge and difficulty all together.

Well, it doesn't have to be a super light train game. I was thinking of how games like Burnout and Need For Speed can give you realism without being overly realistic at times, especially when compared to Forza or Gran Turismo. They're still fun even though they're not complete sim games.

They could always throw in one of the prototype maglev trainsets as an extra to a future DDG installment. That'd be different.

I agree with Mike, I will never buy a game wihout taking real locations. Also that's why I prefer Railfan than Densha de go
