Here are some screenies from SL de Ikou 1 (played on ePSXe and taken with HyperSnapDX): First you will see a intro movie with some real footage of the trains in action: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/3264/snap0325eg.jpg Title: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/3269/snap0013ra.jpg Route selection: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/6316/snap0029gy.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4158/snap0036cr.jpg 1 or 2 player selection: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/5438/snap0044vi.jpg More options, whistle etc http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4699/snap0058dx.jpg Train selection: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/6384/snap0061yt.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4069/snap0071ms.jpg Rollout from the train shed: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/258/snap0099of.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/3484/snap0109dd.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/3595/snap0118pg.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/8554/snap0124gf.jpg Loading screen: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/8046/snap0137om.jpg Cockpit view: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/7152/snap0141xo.jpg External view: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/1183/snap0168vm.jpg Some impressions from the first section: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/6123/snap0174qc.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/876/snap0185on.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/6681/snap0202ru.jpg Braking sequence on the last 50m: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/8278/snap0229uo.jpg Replay of the arrival at the station: http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/1994/snap0233vv.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/8492/snap0247sz.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/9518/snap0262lm.jpg Cockpit explained: ![]() Top, from left to right: speedometer, manometer, remaining time (below the actual score), coal, water, animation of the valve gear (?) Bottom, from left to right: "Gears" (0-5), remaining distance, brake (0-5), regulator for boiler pressure (0-5) Button config: D-Pad up: "Gear" + D-Pad down: "Gear" - L1: "wheelspin" (needed for steep grades?) L2: Camera R1: whistle R2: Letting steam off the valve gear (purpose?) X: Brake + Square: Brake - Triangle: Regulator + O: Regulator - SL de Ikou 2 is nearly the same game but it doesn`t look that good and you got only one train and route. Operating the train is easy in theory: Release the brakes, select a gear and raise the boiler pressure with the regulator and the train will start to move. But what "gear" and pressure at which speed? I managed to run out of coals in both games. Need to gather more infos about operating steamtrains to solve this problem. Avoiding speed traps is easy, since the trains only reach 70 km/h. |

I made the screenshots on my laptop, playing it on a emulator and taking screenies with the trial version of HyperSnapDX. Is it worth playing? Trying out to reach the final station without running out of coal or water can be frustrating or a challenge, so it`s up to you. Strolling through the scenery with max. 70 km/h isn`t that exciting but reaching the next station in time can be exciting - always much harder with slow trains. So it`s up to you. And I can`t compare it to Kisha de Go! since my copy is "parked" in Japan since a few months - waiting for another rare title to fulfil my order. But I guess the gameplay is similar. Once you got your e-bay copy tell me about the used trains - maybe a scan of the routes and stations in the manual too. 2 Player mode? Haven`t tried it out and in the manual it`s just three lines - and no hint in the manual of the second game. |
