The young servant girl found herself drifting through a watery abyss. What was worse... She was never taught how to swim. She had ceased thrashing about wildly. She just waited, hoping someone would dive in to rescue her. “Strange... I don’t remember this pond being so deep.” the young girl thought to herself as she drifted downward. She abruptly felt a strong current push her, sending her flying upward through the water. The entire time, the girl kept her eyes clenched shut in fear. It was soon that she felt fresh air upon her face. Once she had ceased thrashing about wildly in the water, she slowly opened her eyes... Only to find that she was sitting in a stream only ankle-deep. “Huh? What happened to all the water?” she thought. Getting up and wringing out her veil skirt, she took a look at her surroundings. It appeared to be a dark and dreary cave, stalactites and stalagmites jutting out here and there and occasionally joining to form a pillar. Stepping out from the stream, she carefully set off through one of the two tunnels. As she walked through the cave, she had a constant uneasy feeling. The entire place gave her a feeling of... despair... sorrow... death. She soon came to a large open area of the cave. There were marks in the rock, as if a fight took place some time ago. Walking out into the center of the open area, some black creatures with antennae appeared all around her in bursts of black and purple smoke. Shrieking in terror, she stumbled back and fell on her rear with an “oof”. The creatures were closing in, like a predator cornering its prey. She looked about frantically for a way out. The creatures had every route blocked off. As Umi braced herself for what was to come next, a blinding flash filled the area. When the light died down, the creatures had been blown backwards, and a strange weapon had appeared in her hand. It was predominantly red, with a strange symbol on the blade, and a handle surrounded by a ring. It looked somewhat like a key... ... Keyblade.... .... Guardian Soul... ...... Keyblade.... Where was that voice coming from, Umi wondered. ...... Fight!...... At the voice’s command, Umi held the blade next to her with both hands, in a horribly flawed fighting stance. After all, she hadn’t fought a day in her life. She began lashing out wildly at the creatures, most of them backstepping out of the way of her swings. But her weapon connected with a few, knocking them back a foot or two. The odd weapon was heavy for her slender little arms, leaving very little control in her swings. - - - - - - - - - - A solitary figure walked through the caves of the Underworld, easily maneuvering around the falling rocks before they even fell, and all with a leisurely stride. No one knew this strange man's story, and he was not prepared to tell them. He walked alone. A lone swordsman. But what made this swordsman more alone than other swordsmen, was that he did not even have a sword. A swordsman without a sword. As the swordless swordsman came upon a large open area of the cave, he saw a petite blonde girl standing in the middle of it. Arching an eyebrow, the swordsman took a step forward... but quickly recoiled as Shadows appeared all around the girl. As he pondered whether to jump in and save the girl or watch out of curiosity, there was a brilliant flash of light, and a Keyblade was in her hand. “So... She has been chosen by the Keyblade...” the swordsman mused to himself. He decided he’d just watch for now. Viewing the girl swing wildly at the Heartless with her new Keyblade, the swordsman evaluated her combat skills. It was evident she had no previous experience in combat. Her swings were inaccurate and wasted too much energy, her form and stance were sloppy, she had little control over her weapon, and she obviously wasn’t strong enough to lift the Keyblade with even both hands. Letting out a sigh, swordsman decided it was time to put an end to this. Crouching slightly in preparation, he charged into the fray at breakneck speeds. - - - - - - - - - - Umi merely watched in awe as the mysterious man in the straw raincoat pounded one Heartless after another, causing them to drop like flies. One made a sudden lunge for the girl. She braced herself for the attack, but opened her eyes just in time to see the Shadow being knocked away with a powerful swing of the man's arm. Umi turned to see the man in the straw raincoat standing there, and all of the black creatures gone. The entire area was filled with black and purple smoke, all that was left of the monsters that had been there just a moment ago. The blonde servant girl stared up at the man with wide eyes. The man merely peered down at her with his bloodshot eyes. Finally, he spoke. “You should be more careful. These caves aren’t safe.” Tears welled up in the blonde girl’s eyes, and she choked back a sob. Lunging forward, she latched onto the man’s waist, sobbing into his straw raincoat. - - - - - - - - - - The swordsman was definitely surprised when the girl suddenly attached herself to his waist. Sighing with discomfort, he patted the girl’s head to try and console her. “Hey... It’s okay, kid. You’re safe now.” He said softly, his voice gruff yet soft, obviously weary with the many experiences of his long life. He stood there uneasily, the girl crying into his straw raincoat. Soon, her sobbing subsided, and she stared up at her savior with watery eyes full of gratitude. After a quick sniffle, she quietly said “Thank you, sir... No one’s ever looked out for me like that... I was so scared...” The swordsman gave her a pat on the head and pulled away from her, staring at a wall. - - - - - - - - - - "Young lass." "Hm?" "Are you aware of the weapon you just wielded?" "What?" "The weapon that appeared in your hands when your life was in danger." Looking slightly startled, she whipped about wildly for the strange key-shaped object she used to fend off the creatures. “Um... Let’s see... I-it seems to have disappeared, S-sir.” she informed him, eyes and voice shaky, nervous that she might have disappointed him. The swordsman merely chuckled in response. “Just outstretch your arm and call forth the weapon. If your heart wishes for it, it will come.” he informed her with a light smile showing through his thick gray beard. Umi nodded in understanding, and stretched out her arm. Looking deep within her heart, she found something glowing... It looked like an old key. Picking the small hunk of rusted metal up within her heart, it shone brightly, the flash engulfing her heart. When she opened her eyes, she found the strange weapon in her hand, its weight quickly tiring the single arm that was holding it. She slowly lowered it to rest the tip on the ground. “Very good. Now... What is its name?” she heard the man ask. Snapping out of her daze to stare up at the man, she quietly questioned “Its name? H-how do I know its name?” The man’s mouth played at a small smile. “Focus on the weapon. It is a Keyblade. Open your heart and listen. You will hear its name.” Nodding in understanding, Umi closed her eyes, focusing on the weapon... the Keyblade... She soon heard a voice. It was faint at first, but soon grew louder. At the last moment, she heard a voice say “........ Guardian Soul.” Opening her eyes, she announced to the man “Its name is Guardian Soul.” The man smiled once more. “Excellent. But do you know the significance of this weapon?” The girl merely shook her head slowly, staring up at the man in wonderment. The man began walking away, leaving her standing there. When she reached out and was about to call out to him, he abruptly stopped and turned around. Bending his knees, he lifted his arms and bent his elbows, his fingers slightly bent. Obviously a fighting pose. “Fight!” he announced. Rushing forward, the man in the straw raincoat brought his arm down upon the girl. For a moment, she just stared at him, dumbfounded. But then common sense kicked in, and she shrieked, raising the Keyblade up to block the blow. .......... Opening her eyes, she found herself locking blades with the man’s arm. He was pushing an overwhelming amount of force on his locked blow, and Umi’s arms were quickly growing tired as she held Guardian Soul out in front of her. “The Keyblade is a mysterious weapon. There’s more than one, and they all represent something. Four of them represent the four Realms of Light, Darkness, Twilight, and Nothing. Two represent Judgement.” Umi was surprised that this man just suddenly started speaking to her while they were locking blades. She tried to listen despite the battle. The man jumped back and resumed his fighting stance from earlier. Stepping back slightly, he began running swiftly around the blonde servant girl, circling her. “Currently, five Keyblade Wielders are known throughout the Worlds. Their Keyblades are Kingdom Key, Neo Kingdom Key, Way to the Dawn, Radiant Sunset, Oathkeeper, and Oblivion.” Kicking off from a stalagmite, he shot forward. “A Keyblade Wielder holds great power. One legend says that the Keyblade saved the world, and one says that it destroyed it.” Umi braced herself for the attack by covering the top of her head with her arms, but he merely swung his open-palmed hand right past her head, brushing against only a loose strand of blonde hair, and flew right past her. Planting his feet firmly on the opposite wall, he immediately began wall-running the length of the wall circling the cave chamber. “But a power this great cannot be obtained easily. A Keyblade chooses its wielder.” Kicking off from the wall, he shot forward at Umi. He was immediately before her, his hand stopping just in front of her forehead, fingers bent in a talon-like position. “And such a power... Chose you.” Umi’s heart was beating a mile a minute, and she was panting heavily from such a rush. The man lowered his arm, resting it against his side. He stood before the girl, staring down at her with weary eyes. When the servant girl calmed down a little, she asked “H-how do you know all this?” The man’s face remained expressionless. “I fought alongside one of the greatest Keyblade Wielders of them all.” Umi stared in wonderment at him as he appeared to be nostalgically going through memories in his mind. “What is your name, girl?” he abruptly asked her. Jumping a little, she shyly answered “Um... Ah... Umi. M-my name is Umi.” “Well, Umi... You have been chosen to wield a great power. It’s obvious you don’t have any experience in fighting, and it would be a waste to leave the power of your Keyblade untapped...” A long pause. “So I’m going to make you my apprentice.” Umi’s eye’s widened and her jaw dropped. “Y-your ap-p-prentice?” she sputtered, shocked at the sudden revelation. “You heard me. Now come along. We’re leaving this World. First, I’m going to teach you how to lift that Keyblade without tiring easily. While I doubt you’ll be able to lift it with a single hand with your small frame and scrawny arms, you’ll be able to lift and use it efficiently with two.” The man began walking off to one of the archways leading to another tunnel of the cave. Umi called out to him with a “Wait!” The man in the straw raincoat halted his footsteps. Turning slightly to view her, he responded with a patient “Yes?” The blonde servant hesitated. She finally worked up the courage to speak when she said “I don’t even know your name, Sir.” There was a long pause that seemed to last an eternity. Finally, the swordsman answered. “I have no name. I am nobody of importance. I am merely a wandering swordsman who carries no sword. A swordless swordsman, I suppose.” The girl looked confused, but then she nodded. “The Swordless Swordsman.” she concluded. The man said nothing, instead he turned back around and began walking off into the tunnels of the cave. Realizing she was getting left behind, Umi ran after him, wondering what adventures awaited her. |

Getting sick and tired of the fossil-like system, now or never it's the time to resist 'em, it's easy to blast them all away, pull a trigger push a button say ADIOS to today, don't get me wrong I'm a pacifist, the mind can do more than the fist. Explosives are not what it takes (you know, terrorists always make these mistakes,) what we gotta do is build momentum, if you need the right tools invent 'em, ride the wave of time come feel the rhythm, the march to the future has begun get with'em, | |
