A note about EVENT CANCELLATIONS and other time-sensitive updates: When something happens that we want everybody to know about - RIGHT NOW - we do a couple of things. The information will be posted in the "Official Announcements" section and it will also be posted on Twitter and the CWIRA blog. However, if this info (like a race cancellation at 6am) happens when there is no internet access for us - it will be on Twitter first because that can be updated via cell phone. We recomend that if you are set up for it - follow us on twitter.com/cwira and enable your cell/text to recieve twitter updates on race day. Or, if you have a web-enabled phone you can access the info at cwira.blogspot.com or twitter.com/cwira.

Can anyone explain how the format is going to be for Weyauwega? Heats on Saturday and finals on Sunday? Full program for us? Is this a big place with lots of parking?

They talked about what you mentioned, then at Humbird they mentioned beginner classes on sat and pros on sunday. Also last I heard on parking is going to be flooded area for us and thats it. Either way its probably not going to be a good race considering we are racing on a track that snowmobiles race on.

I watched the ice bikes at Eagle River a couple Friday nights ago race on a "sled track" and they looked to be having a pretty good time on a pretty nice track.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions on track conditions just yet!

Look at it from their (the sled guys) stand point.....how many sled guys are used to racing on an oval with an 8" deep groove wore in the bottom of the corner?

Any word on the race day order Bill?

Nope. BTW there WILL NOT be a groove problem because they are preparing the track super wide and using cones to run the sleds on the outside. When we go out the cones come off and we get the inside. Then vice/versa. That should take care of the groove/line problem. I've been watching how the lines progress at the Wausau 525 and the sleds take completely different lines so the cones should provide a solution.

Hopefully, then again like cdaniels said it may be a good turn out.

Parking is not an issue at Weyauwega I was there again this week they have quite a few acres of land flooded and as smooth as glass. As for the schedule I met with them Tuesday night and I proposed a plan that would have us racing a limited schedule non points on saturday with 100% payback plus money added to the program from them. Then sunday we would run our whole points program the only change would be a very early start for practice and a long intermission so they could run their finals.

That's the best news I've heard yet - hope we can make it happen!

I agree with motobill. Having it split between days with heats/motos and mains would suck. Having each day a separate cwira event is the way to go!

The details will be announced at West Salem, but the word I just got was that they will be going with the points program running complete on Sunday. There will also be non-points racing on Saturday.

So plan on a "somewhat" normal Sunday race for Weyauwega. Again, check the details as we get them as I'm sure with the sleds there will be a few unexpected wrinkles.

Thanks for the info guys just post the final decision when it's available. Points only on Sunday would be good for us long distance travelers. I wouldn't have to stay overnight to finish the races that were started on Saturday. I'm not worried about the snowmobiles especially if they do the cone thing. I just hope it starts early enough if there is going to be a long span of time for them to run their finals. Unless of course they have lights. Anybody know if it is a true half mile?

Go to the "Weyauwega" page of the web site (left side menu) then scroll down to the map +South+St:Weyauwega:WI:54983:US:44.316415:-88.922385:block::1:::/e](or here). It's a summer sat view of the fairgrounds oval - at least you can see the track that way. As far as the time I think we'll be just fine - expect to get "on the track" about an hour or so early though. By the time intermission (and the sled classes) is over we should be back to normal.
