![]() As a fan of MMA, I love the game. If you're not a fan, I don't really know. If you liked Fight Night Round 3 you should like it, but I had a few friends over the night I got it, they weren't too sure on the grappling controls. If you don't know the sport you'd probably find it confusing. Although I love the game, it has flaws. Here's a few points. 1. Something quite strange, you're career does go through a calendar, but you're fighter doesn't age. And something I found very strange, but no one else will probably care about, you can't create a fighter from Scotland, or Ireland, though you can England. Also, I was expecting mini-games for the strength, speed and cardio training. You just choose how hard you want to train and it just effects your stamina. Other than that, I do enjoy the career mode. The sparring training is good, your sparring partner takes on your next opponents attributes so it's a great way to get ready, and you assign points to your attributes, depending on how well you done in the sparring. I liked the sponsor's on the trunks too. You pick the layout and such. 2. The classic fights mode is brilliant. Your given 12 classic matches to recreate. In order to successfully complete them, you need to recreate the result exactly. They have an introduction video featuring the lovely Rachell Leah telling you some history about the fight, and what happened, and then you get the hype video they played before the actual fight at the PPV, I liked that. Some are easy, like "Win by Knockout or TKO in the second round with Chuck Liddell.", though ones where you need to make it go to a decision or win by submission are harder, especially seeing as you need to do the specific submission hold used to win the fight (eg. Armbar or Rear Naked Choke.), though I was slighty disappointed by what you unlock by doing these. All you get is a highlight video or the fight you recreated. Just a short montage, nothing great really. Were it the whole fight, I would've been impressed, probably. 3. I've only played one online game, though it seemed good. I lost, mainly because my controller ran out of batteries half way through the first round, but I'm not making any excuses or anything... But yeah, onlines good from what I can tell, I need to investigate more. 4. The knock-out system is good, but incredibley annoying at the same time. TKO's happen when you daze your opponent, then knock him down. Once you do that you have a certain amount of time to jump on him and start wailing on his face, but flash knock outs are a bitch, especially if it's a classic fight you need to make go to decision. But fights can be going your way then suddenly if you get caught off guard with a shot to the head, you're out, and sometimes very early on in the fight, and I mean 30 seconds into the fight. Really annoying. 5. Once you get a grasp of the controls, they're fine. They have a good tutorial system that guides you through learning them. I only done it to get the achievement for it, but it really helped my game. My career mode is going very well. My Light Heavyweight fighter, Michael Brady, hails from Warsaw, Poland, and is the reigning and defending (Two Time) Light Heavyweight Champion Of The World, with a record of 21-1. My one loss was to Lyoto Machida, a knock-out in the forth round. Is there anything else anyone would care to know about the game? |

Well, I find the grappling controls would be confusing to someone who never did training mode. After I did the training I felt the grappling controls to be the best they could be. I have only played the demo, but I think MMA is still to complicated to make a fun game out of. There is just way to much to do in comparison to a wrestling or boxing game. |
