Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. (born September 27, 1982), better known by his stage name Lil Wayne, is an American rapper. Formerly a member of the rap group the Hot Boys, he joined the Cash Money Records collective as a teenager. He worked with B.G. on the album True Story and eventually recorded for the label. Get It How U Live, released in 1997, was Lil Wayne's first album with Hot Boys, and Tha Block is Hot, his solo debut, came out 1999. Block debuted in the top ten on the American Billboard 200 chart and Lil Wayne was nominated for "Best New Artist" from The Source magazine the same year. Following this success, Wayne soon featured on other rappers' singles, including "Bling Bling" by B.G. and "#1 Stunna" by the Big Tymers in 2000.

After his hit debut album Tha Block Is Hot and two more albums released with little promotion, Lil Wayne reached higher popularity with 2004's Tha Carter and its two subsequent albums Tha Carter II (2005) and Tha Carter III (2008).

He has announced several possible projects following Tha Carter III, including a collaboration album I Can't Feel My Face with rapper Juelz Santana that has been in production for several years.[30][31] On the website HipHopDX.com, he has discussed a possible R&B album titled Luv Sawngz, for which he will heavily rely on a vocoder.[32]

In the latter half of 2007, Lil Wayne was arrested twice. On July 22, 2007, Lil Wayne was arrested in New York City following a performance at the Beacon Theatre; the New York City Police Department discovered Lil Wayne and another man smoking marijuana near a tour bus. After taking Lil Wayne into custody, police discovered a pistol on his person, and he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana.[57] Another arrest was on October 5, 2007, following a performance at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho, on felony fugitive charges after Georgia authorities accused the rapper of possessing a controlled substance.[58] The incident was later described as a "mix-up" and the fugitive charges were dropped.[59]

On January 23, 2008, Lil Wayne was arrested alongside two others. His tour bus was stopped by Border Patrol agents near Yuma, Arizona. A K-9 Unit recovered 105 grams of marijuana (3.7 ounces), almost 29 grams of cocaine (1.02 ounces), 41 grams of MDMA (1.4 ounces) and $22,000 dollars in cash. Lil Wayne was charged with four felonies: possession of narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was granted permission to travel outside of the state and remain out of custody on the $10,185 bond he posted.[60] On May 6, 2008 Wayne returned to court in Arizona to plead not guilty to the charges.[61]

Here's where I stand. His beats are really repetitive and minimal, and his lyrics are for the most part meaningless. He's the face of a drug culture, not just a hip hop culture. His flow has gotten worse over the years, and his freestyles now are just incoherent and rambling. "Tha Block Is Hot" (1999) was decent.

Freeman has a point, it's just the music. Back to the debate, though, this man has fallen off of it. Bizzy Bone can't make a major studio record after Heaven'z Movie because he did the same shit afterwards, but Lil Wayne is a pop culture phenomenon.

Like the video said, he's recorded over 200 tracks in the past 2 years. That tells me that he never records something enough times to perfect it.

There a tons of bands that can be entered for a default white guy trying to be cool. All you have to do is look at generic bands like Three Days Grace or old crappy bands that are cool because chicks like them, like Led Zeppelin.

Every music genre has crappy artists who get support from people to try and be cool. Sometimes this target audience is a race or a gender or an age.

exactly my point, the music is directed at wanna be popular people and if i ever have to hear lollipop ever again it will be too late.

this one time i went to a party with a chick i wanted to fuck and i had to withstand that song like 20 times before some fat chick cock blocked me. drove home drunk and smoked a blunt. (two hour drunk drive threw the woods and past 6 police stations.)

later to find out shes all about juggle cock. as was her petite Arabic friend.

back on topic. like anti-flag is a band that hunts out and seeks fake anarchist 13-15 year old fake wealthy kids who dont know what anything is.

I have a very strong opinion on how Pop is overrated and will never have as much longevity and replay value as Heavy Metal or Rock.
I think that Rock and Metal are eternal because they have endless potential to expand, grow, and change. It never tries to conform in order to sell itself to the masses, and it never limits itself. Rock and Metal will always be the genres that pushes boundaries, leaving other genres behind.

Unfortunately, many people don't want music like that. I believe metal is something that you have to be halfway intelligent to appreciate, and most of the world's population is... well, not halfway intelligent. They'd rather be pleased by pop culture, things that are dumbed down to keep the masses happy, but don't have a long life span. Metal is it's own separate entity that kicks ass. I respect Metal and Mock more than anything else because they keep on going forever.

He should be either

-Shot out of a catapult into a brick wall.
-Thrown screaming from a helicopter.
-Smashed across the face with heavy mining equipment.
-Strapped into a chair and beaten with hammers(any kind.)

And here is my reasoning.

Kids and ignorant(Definition-Not knowing; in this case, in regards to other more rappers) people look up to him. They want to emulate him, to be like him. They think he's talented, so they put him on the radio.

sound pollution, i think they call it.

Like Teeks said, he has a face in drug culture, making him fucking Joe Camel, a "shiny object" to attract the fish to the fishhook, and the last fucking thing we need is more assholes who are depressed or bored enough to medicate themselves, and sedate themselves, so when people have to deal with these people, or god forbid talk to them, they don't need to hear that dreary, annoying, tone, with there incessant giggling, or dying of a overdose while walking out.

I don't really care if he is conscious of it either, He needs to go away anyway, he's ruining the career of underground rappers that have legitimate talent, by taking all of the limelight.

I, myself, am a metal head, but before i am a metal head, i am a music fan, metal is just my preferred style(Not that meat-grinder screamer bullshit, Megadeth, metallica maiden, motorhead and priest.) i also somewhat of a humanitarian; in the sense i care more about people who deserve money, fame or power, rather then the retards that have it now, so i think i have a say in this.

In closing; support talent, Fuck these assholes in the music industry today.
