I am finally about 7/8ths done with the game so I feel comfortable enough to tell you about it.

The story? You are a slime who lives in a village populated with other slimes. While out playing with your friends, one of your buddies takes the famous Warrior Flute just so you and them can play with it. All kids are guilty of this sorta thing... casual stuff, right? Well, the King of the town realizes it is taken from the Palace, and so he leaves his throne to investigate. While he approaches, in attempts to hide the crime, you fit the flute in your elastic mouth and take the form of an odd slimey baseball bat look alike. Your friends cover the crime by saying you are infact a baseball bat. The king wanders off and at that moment, your town is bombed (attacked in attempts to be taken over). 100 slimes in Slimenia (of 101) are kidnapped and fit inside blue treasure chests. You are the one left over since you were mistaken as a baseball bat by the enemies as well. The clumsy enemies drop the chests filled of Slimes along their journey back to their base. There are tons of more plot points that I wish not to get into (that'll take forever to explain in one review), so lets summarize. Your job: save the slimes and send them back to town while you beat bosses and participate in tank battles.

Tank battles are an important part of the game. You collect items along your journey. These items work as ammo on your tank. What is this tank? Well, you get the tank when a you save a certain character along your journey. He will fix your town's battle war tank (destructed by the bombs I mentioned earlier) and he will fix the Warrior Flute. Now, you are the Flute Warrior. When an enemy challenges you to a tank battle, you blow on the flute to call in your tank to battle. Also, you buy HP upgrades for your tank with items and coins. Back to the battles, this works by getting these items out of the tank's supply and tossing them in either a toss up cannon or a straight forward cannon. You shoot at the enemy's tank, which you get a view of on the top screen. On the bottom screen: You inside the tank (the main gameplay of the battles). These battles are very fun, and you can't help but get addicted by them. When your enemy's tank reaches 0 HP, you go into their tank and destroy their tank's... well, life. It's sorta an engine in the form of a heart. Once you defeat them, you will save a slime in another blue treasure chest. You later on develop a tank crew of slimes you rescue or enemies you collected enough of. Each crew member has a different skill and you can have up to 3 different crew members.

Attacking enemies and mini bosses in the 6 different worlds (very complicated and sized worlds) is done by holding the A button and pressing the direction you desire to attack. You will stretch out your elastic slimey body and release yourself like a rubber band. This gets the item or enemie onto your back. Attack an anemy untill their dead, or toss them off your back onto a raft or mine cart found in certain locations of the worlds. These transport them back to town. 30 collected of a kind of monster/enemy gets them avaliable for your tank crew. Toss items off your back to town and you can use them on your tank as ammo.

In closing, Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is the perfect RPG game for any fan of the older games of the Zelda series or any RPG Pokemon game. The story is great and collecting items is great for side quests or something to do when your'e not up for continueing your adventure. DQHRS is definetly one of the best games avaliable for the DS.

Graphics 8/10
The simple graphics fit the simplicity of the game's theme. Everything is colorfull and cheery. However, there is just about 0 shading. Looks like they were simply pixel drawn in MS Paint. Looks like a GBA game, not a DS game.

Story 9.5/10
The story is unique in it's own way. However, the story just sorta... dies in the middle of the game in some parts. There aren't enough plot points to get a 10.

Controls/gameplay 9/10
RPG games are good at being simple. However, this game takes it to another level with the battle system. The tank battles give you control of when you attack and defend againt enemy attacks. It defenitly beats "taking turns" RPG battles. But, attacking enemies outside tank battles is really repeatative.

Menu and other game presentations 10/10
No use of the touch screen outside of the menus when you start the game up. Does it need touch screen use though? Nope. Anyways, the menus are excellent and the dialogues are full of awesome cheesey puns that will make your inner child giggle.

Sounds and music 10/10
The sounds fit perfectly and the music is in genius melodies. Perfect synthesized music that resembles MIDIs, but not too much. It lives up to standards of Koji Kondo (Mario, Zelda) even.

OVERALL: 9.5/10

NP. Just had nothing to do so... pass time untill Sunday. New Super Mario, Mario Kart, and others come first, but this one is great for something out of the ordinary.
