((OOC: I hope I followed your timeline correctly, and that you're seeking a young idealistic type. If not, I can try and make something more original to the setting.))

Name: Arthur Dayne
Date Of Birth: 09/18/2095
Age: 20
Birth Place: Side 1
Genetic Type: Coordinator
Faction: UCN
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Arthur Dayne is a second generation coordinator, and as such bares a near perfect resemblance to his father; everything from the straight black hair, piercing blue eyes, and smooth facial features. Having spent little time on Earth, his skin lacks any sort of a tan, regardless of the artificial sunlight available in the colonies. Due to his genetic make-up, he possesses a very toned and tall frame, though when fully clothed he does not stand out from the average kid his age.

Arthur is a stickler for appearance, and his uniform is a prime example; starched, pressed, and immaculate, every ribbon and citation perfectly in place. It has been said by an instructor once, after going through a thorough evaluation of Arthur’s Dress Uniform, that he was the best dressed cadet that he’d ever had the honor of training.

However, for being such a stickler for duty uniform regulations, his wear of the standard flight suit has a pair of notable additions; a pair of vintage aviator goggles styled after those worn during the first age of flight and a worn leather bomber jacket. These are usually carried in his helmet bag and donned after he’s entered the hangar bay. The goggles are often worn in lieu of a headband to keep his long bangs out of his face or, on a notable experience, for their intended purpose, after his cockpit was breached and his helmet cracked from the impact.

Arthur’s bomber jacket and goggles also make their way into his off duty attire, usually accompanying a fitted T shirt underneath a tasteful button up tucked into slacks or jeans. Another notable part of his ensemble is a digital music player, an undercover holster for his sidearm, a harmonica, and a gold pocket watch that has been passed down in his family since before the first colonies.

Personality:
Arthur is a very quiet and reserved young man who prefers to listen more than speak. A dutiful soldier, he will never hold back his opinion of a situation nor sugar coat the details around it, seeing anything else as dereliction of duty. Dayne also has a tendency to push himself too hard, though not for any head pats from his superiors; he wishes to become the best soldier he can be to help bring about the end of the war as quickly as possible. Though he can come off as aloof due to his reserved atmosphere, he is a very friendly lad and will be the first to offer assistance to his comrades.

Biography:
Arthur Dayne was born just before the beginning of the Universal Age, possibly one of the first babies to be born on the Side 1 Construction Project. His father, Allister Dayne, was a first generation Coordinator who joined the construction program to avoid the harassment he felt on Earth for his genetics. Gathering many accolades amongst his crew and his first line supervisors, he would also meet his future wife amongst them; the rest, as they say, was history. Their first born son was exceptional, being a second generation coordinator, and had little trouble growing up in the Colonies, where he was saved much of the persecution his people faced elsewhere.

Arthur graduated from standard schools several years early and soon found himself in a University for the Gifted, where he constantly frustrated his instructors by being unable to pick a Major and stick with it. This continued to be a nuisance as he took numerous secondary classes to avoid his uncertainty in what career field he wanted to spend his life in. Eventually, he settled on Terraforming Research, seeing it as the future for mankind and an evolution of his father’s work on Colonies. When he informed his parents of this decision, they were overjoyed; their baby boy had finally found his calling, and they could stop worrying… or so they thought.

Soon however, the tensions between the Earth and her Colonies began to escalate rapidly from murmurs of discontent to whispers of independence. The young student found it hard to focus in his studies, ever reading news stories and rumors of the trials that might come in the future. Before long he abandoned his studies for that of military history and doctrine, reading the tides long before the Creedent Affair took place. It was inevitable that one side would light the fuse on this powder keg, and he wanted to make sure he would be ready; yet for the most part, space born combat was a relatively new concept, and he found most of the writings were theoretical, to his frustration.

Regardless, he tried to take in all the lessons he could before the war began in earnest; after all, the fighting would likely carry them to Earth. Still, he wondered what the colonies could use him for; a Marine or a Ships Rating? These ideas bored him, as he knew that such a position would have little impact on the war as a whole. The young man entered a melancholy as the war began and he could find no specialty that he felt would make a lasting difference… that is, until he heard about Mobile Suits.

It was then that he found his calling; the demand for mobile suit pilots was high, especially Coordinators. Raising his right hand, he took the oath of enlistment, all the while making a private one to himself; he would bring an end to this war as quickly as possible. He left his home with a single packed bag, the most precious of his possessions worn proudly; heirlooms from his family and their legacy as aviators and pioneers. He excelled in Pilot’s Academy with high marks, with special honors for Leadership and Discipline. Shortly after graduation and a night of ‘shore leave,’ he received his first orders…

It seems that you followed the timeline perfectly. And, for the time being, we’re seeking all types. :)

I found your character profile to be detailed and well written without dragging on, and think your character and your writing will be a great addition to the board.

Your character is approved, though I’ll mention a few things below that you can consider—or not—at your convenience.

I noticed that you referred to your character as both “kid” and “lad”, yet being 20 and exceptionally well read and educated for his age, I didn’t get the feeling that your character would consider himself a “kid”, or that many other people would. That’s just the way I saw it.

I also found what seemed to be a very slight contradiction. In the personality-section, you open with:

Yet at the end of his bio:

…special honors for Leadership and Discipline.

Perhaps there isn’t as much of a contradiction here as I thought, but considering how difficult it is to create a Coordinator character that is not too “Mary Sue”, you may consider having him struggle to gain leadership skills an interesting character development to explore during the RPG.

As for having a straightforward character, think nothing of it. Just about everything your character has achieved and is capable of was well explained and justified given his history, and a great starting point for character development during the RPG, where they’ll be plenty of time to explore his deeper complexities.

I also liked the goggles and bomber jacket. Not exactly original, but enough to add distinction and perhaps steam-punk leanings? Maybe I reach too far.

Well done. I’ll move your profile to the UCN characters’ section and PM you the password for the UCN headquarters forum.

I guess I see him as still as young or called Kid, even at 20. After all, he's had a pretty good life and not as much experience with hardship compared to the older characters.

I like that idea of him slowly coming to terms with leadership; perhaps that should list Strategy and Discipline, with a caveat that he has the makings of a great leader.

I'm a fan of both Steam Punk and WW1 aviators, so yes you've spotted my leanings. :P
