General Board Rules: Before we start, might I give you a warm welcome to Broken Obligation’s. Like any board, be them RPG or just used for mutual talk, there are rules. If you follow these rules the Administration can guarantee you a fun and entertaining atmosphere. Basic Profile Rules: Just use your head, no super huge text, no images that stretch the screen. When inserting or using your signature please think how you would feel seeing it, also try to respect people on smaller screen resolutions. An appropriate should be no more then 500x175 but there are exceptions. Please, only have one account. If you are caught with more then one account one or even both will be deleted and you may be suspended or banned depending on the terms of each account. Civil Conduct: Any abuse via the PM system will not be tolerated, if we (the administration) hear of you abusing a member via PM’s you will be suspended without warning for however long the administration deem necessary. This also applies to threads or posts, if you are caught abusing a member, no matter where, you will be warned at the very least. If you have been abused by another member you can contact a Global Moderator, the people in purple, or the Admins, the people in blue. Although we do allow cursing, please keep it to a minimum. We do have younger members here, it’s best to think of them when posting as well. Please, unless in your own personal RP keep double posting to a minimum. The only time double posting will be allowed is if no one has posted in a topic for a day or two, or as stated before, the topic is a closed RP. Another rule that should be common sense it the no spamming rule, spam is considered a useless post. Simply going into a topic and saying one word that has no real effect on the outcome or is completely off topic is spam. By going off topic we mean going into a thread, let’s say it’s a music thread, and changing it’s meaning, you go in and talk about food. When posting, though it is not mandatory, please run your post through a spell check. No l33t speak will be allowed here; try to observe the common rules of English while posting please. Role Playing Rules and Information: Broken Obligations is loosely based in the Gundam series, now if you have no idea what that is you can check out the following link. www.mahq.net Now the first step for any new role player is to do what you are doing now, reading the rules, but after this there are a few more steps you need to take. Now once through with this topic go to the forum entitled “Profiles” and read the “Character Template Thread.” From their you can begin to design your profile. Before you can complete your profile, however, you must read the current storyline. The storyline is basically the summary of what has happened up to that point, be sure to check it regularly though for it is updated quite a bit depending on what is happening in our own Gundam world. Once you’ve read and started on your profile you must pick a faction. Once you have decided which faction you wish to join, you can create your profile and wait for approval. After that it’s pretty much smooth sailing. If you are anyway confused by the above you can contact one of your local Global Mod’s for support After Creating Your Character Information: Once you’ve created your character theirs nothing between you and happy role playing. Of course there are a few rules. Foremost is to never give out your faction password. Each faction has a dedicated forum where they converse and will talk about their plans and or strategies, and each forum has their own password. If you are caught giving out passwords you will be banned without warning. From here on out there are two terms you might hear quite frequently, one more then the other. Metagaming and God-modding. The following is to explain to you what those two terms mean and how not to be accused of doing either. *Thanks to Urban Dictionary for the following definitions and examples* -God-Modding • Misspelling of God-modding & God Modding in RPG and forum settings, thus the meaning is the same. The term applies to "Godly-modification" or "Godlike-modification" to a character, through skills such as evasion and the like, as well as the character's personality which usually consists of a superior "I know all, see all, and am all", et cetera. The single most annoying and obnoxious gamers on the planet. Tend to act like 7 year olds when they don't get their way during games of pretend, i.e. - Bang, you're dead! Yeah huh, I killed you and you can't play anymore! • God-modding Bill not only managed to magically know the secret base's true location, but also passed all of the armed guards by hopping from tree to tree like a natural-born monkey, and managing to rewire the electric locks which were state-of-the-art using a paperclip and a piece of fuzz from his pocket. Once inside, Bill used his deadly and artful bare hands (along with a combination of poison that he had learned in one week to brew in his toilet) to take down 38 of the guards and dogs, inside. That done, it was a mere task of busting through fifty-eight doors and cart wheeling gracefully through the laser beams, before waltzing into the innermost vault and plucking up the plans for complete world domination. -Metagaming • The act of using outside or previously gained knowledge within a gaming universe for personal gain or advantage. • John was accused of Metagaming when he immediately moved his player to the most protected area of the map to snipe the enemy team members, since he had played the map before and knew from experience. (FYI: That is their example, if you know the terrain you are ok but using out of character information or feelings to influence your character in character) God-Modding is one term you will hear referred to quite a bit. As the definition states it is where you seem to dodge everything and do not take into account your own suits ability. Now in all Gundam shows, especially SEED, a line has been drawn between real physics and fantasy physics. If you don’t take into account your own suit and your opponent’s skill you could start god-modding Now Metagaming may be a term you hear rarely, but when it is used it is a serious claim. It is worse then god-modding in some respects and if you here anyone speaking of using OOC information to help IC report them immediately to the Administration. I know sometimes it seems like the entire faction is against you, or maybe its you just don’t like the leadership. Well I have to tell you, tuff. Defecting to anther faction will not be allowed UNLESS the administration approves it as a whole; you will also need a good reason for doing so. Battling Rules and Information: Just to start off there is no HP or set damage here, the only thing you do have to take into consideration while fighting is your ammo. If you’re using a sub-machine gun that uses, let’s say 200 rounds; you can’t just go nuts and start firing wildly. If you never seem to run out of ammo you will be called a God-modder, at first you will be warned, but it will on escalate from their. When in battle you are allowed to perform 3 attack actions. This limit on attack actions will limit how many times you are able to attack in one post, but does not limit your ability to defend your self. The amount of shots in one action for example would be something like 1 bazooka round, 10-15 bullets of a machine gun projectile or 1 bazooka shot. Replacing a weapons magazine or cartage also counts as a attack action and can only be done at the start or end of your post and only once. 72 hour/96 hour rule: These rules are put in place in order to keep the flow of our battles in sync. If someone disappears from the board without any warning or notice, these rules keep the battle going. If someone is gone for 72 hours or more, you can call a 72 hour hit, which means all of the attacks you performed against this said opponent will be a direct hit that they cant avoid. If they don't show up for another 24 hours (96 hour rule) they get kicked from the battle and you can go on to fighting someone else. At the beginning of the war each faction will have a set number of territories. The purpose of land battles, where opposing factions fight over a area of land, is to gain this land. The basic rules for these are that you are not allowed to be in more then 1 battle at a time. Another part of the RPG are NPC's, which are basically background noise, in order to help develop your character and to make battles alot more fun and interesting. While they cannot do damage to pc's unless the said pc wants them to do damage, they are there to enhance the battle scene to make them more epic like the actual Gundam show. You are allowed to have as many NPC's as you want. EVEN THOUGH NPC'S ARE OPTIONAL, YOU CANNOT FORCE HIT THEM (I.E., SAY YOU THRUST YOUR BEAM SABER INTO THE COCKPIT AND THEN RETREAT. SAME GOES WITH ANY AND ALL NPC'S. THEY MAY BE BACKGROUND NOISE BUT AGAIN, YOU CANNOT FORCE HIT THEM, WE CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. ACT LIKE YOU ARE HITTING A PC PLEASE.) Another major part of the RPG is missions. Missions are designated assignments given by the administration for the entire board to take part in. The winner normally will receive a new suit or perhaps a new land, it is up to the Administration. Just like in Land Grabbing. Concerning Land Battling and CD On Broken Obligations you can only be in 1 battle at a time, as previously stated above. However, you can also be doing several CD's at one time and also be in a land battle, for the mere fact that Character Development can really be going on at any time before the battle, in character. Also, when you retreat from a battle, you cannot join another land battle for 48 hours, due to mobile suits being repaired, movement to different areas, ect. In addition to this, land battles will be closed to new occupants 72 hours after the opening post in order to prevent land battles from lasting forever, so make sure your soldiers get to their respective battles as soon as possible so the deadline is not missed. Ammo Rules and Information: These rules have been set in place because of abuse of the way ammo was original set up. 1. Cartages, clips, energy packs, and ammo belts. Must be replace after the given of shot have been fired 2. Replacing a will count as one attack action and can only be done once at the start or end of your post 3. Mobile suit are only able to carry a max 3 extra cartages, clips, energy pack, or ammo belts in to a battle. The 3 can each be different types. Example: 1 clip and 2 energy packs. 4. Some weapons can not be reloaded during battle. These weapon are Vulcan, missile launchers, machine cannons, artillery cannon, and Sturm Faust. 5. If you run out of cartages, clips, energy packs, or ammo belts during a battle you are able to search shot down ally and enemy units but the cartages, clips, energy packs, or ammo belts have to go with the weapon you are trying to load them in to and have to be from a type of NPC that have been listed as being in the battle. Here is a list of almost ever weapons cartage, clip, energy pack, or ammo belt and how many shot each holds. Also list are weapons that do not used cartages, clips, energy packs, or ammo belts. The List 90mm GM rifle/90mm assault rifle ammo clip-30 rounds per clip Beam rifle energy pack- 15 shots per energy pack 137mm rocket launcher- 17 shots per launcher (can not be reloaded during battle) Grenade launcher cartridge Beam machine gun energy pack- 150 shots per energy pack, minimum of 10 shot per burst Machine cannon- 400 rounds(can not be reloaded during battle) Vulcan- 500 rounds (can not be reloaded during battle) MMP-80/90mm machine gun ammo clip - 32 rounds per clip 880mm raketen bazooka Cartridge - 5 rounds per Cartridge Tube missile launcher- 1 shot per tub unless other wise stated with in the stats (can not be reloaded during battle) Mounted Beam Weapons- power by suit unless other wise stated. 3-Barrel 35mm Machine Gun ammo clip - 200 rounds per clip 75mm Gating-Gun- 600 rounds per belt 120mm Machine Gun Drum- 100 shots per drum 280mm Zaku Bazooka Cartridge- 4 Rounds per Cartridge Sturm Faust- 1 time use weapon 680mm artillery cannon- 30 rounds (can not be reloaded during battle) Feyadeen rifle/beam saber energy packs- 10 shot per energy pack Clay bazooka Cartridge- 7 rounds per Cartridge The Mega launcher and the Sniper beam rifle have their own generators and can only fire 1 to 2 shots in a post. These two weapons also need a cool down time of around 30 seconds to a minute after firing maxim number of shots. Unique Character Slots: Each faction is given a certain amount of unique character slots. These unique positions are handed out to the gifted within each faction, if you receive one of these slots it should be an honor. The slots are Newtype, SEED, Cyber Newtype, and Extended. A better explanation of these abilities and their levels can be given by the administration if the need should arise. Concerning Deaths: The only time God-Modding is allowed, and this is a very gray area, is when you do not wish your character to die. YOU are the only one who can say when your character can die. Their will be no character playing unless the “owner” of the character gives permission. I repeat; ONLY YOU CAN SAY IF YOUR CHARCTER DIES, PERIOD! Notice: These rules can and will be changed as the Administration sees fit. Edited by Kojiru, May 1 2011, 06:08 PM.
