Just to set some things straight before we move on.

  • The name of the treaty is, in keeping with the Gundam tradition of ridiculous names, "Treaty when Sparks of Hope Ignite Together"

  • This treaty is being signed at an unnamed part on Earth

  • Let's wait till everyone that wants to be part of this moment is assembled in this topic. The time when this thread is officially closed will be 12:00 am, EST, Nov 22 2007 (aka, the end of the 21st of November).

With that said, though I have only participated in this war for a little bit, well fought to pilots of both sides. Let the negotiations begin ;)

The stage was now set.

Murmurs echoed about the huge chamber that the Earth Union had provided for the signing of the peace treaties from the variety of people tha thad gathered to witness this life-changing event. Reporters dashed about madly at the back of the room, waving rolled up papers wildly about, trying to grab the attentions of the crew that were busily setting up their cameras. Various engineers wearing different sorts of uniforms, representing the differnet companies they worked for, were scrambling about, pushing and shoving each other out of the way so they could plug in their equipments into the scant and scarce outlets on the walls of their allotted areas. The various diplomats and politicians from both the Jupiter Empire and the Earth Union that had been invited sat in the plush chairs that had been provided. Though there had been no physical barrier between the chairs to seperate them, they had naturally drifted, perhaps due to old habits, to opposite sides of the room. The tension that had gathered in between the two groups was already escalating. The frantic, last-minute conversations that soon became a dull roar from the Jupiter Empire's side was quickly matched by the Earth Union's barely suppressed congratulatory motions.

Hiruma sighed as he let the curtain drop once more. Why did the EU choose to hold such an important deal here, of all places? It was, basically, a freaking opera stage, for heaven's sake. They were boxed in on all sides with bullet-proof, one-way mirrored walls, with only a single door leading into the negotiation room. Conveniently enough, all the people who were to enter that room had to enter by going around the other side's invited diplomats and politicians. What was that, if not just more tension raising tactics? Either they were extremely inconsiderate, or they just enjoyed pulling this sort of shit on people. The name of the treaty itself had a stupid and condescending name as well. Godamnit...the 'Treaty when Sparks of Hope Ignite Together' was just propaganda bullballs. However, before he could go on any further in this mental rant, he was shaken out of his thoughts by a slight touch.

"Master, please stay still and refrain from excitement. You're starting to perspire a bit and it's ruining the starch."

"Oh, I'm sorry Nina-chan."

After a bit more fidgeting, Nina stood up straight, then took a step back.

"You're ready now, Master."

Hiruma turned a head to look into a giant mirror mounted on the wall. At the very least, they were nice enough to make sure that they looked presentable before they headed out. The uniform really did look strange on him. When was the last time he had worn a uniform? If he recalled correctly, it was probably the day that he was indoctrinated. On that day, the Supreme Commander, Enzeru Tawkashi, had stopped by to speak to the recruits himself. If there was a man he respected, it was him. However, the Supreme Commander retired in the middle of the war for unknown reasons. In a flash, he was suddenly promoted to the Second in Command of the Empire's Fleet. Hiruma's eyes refocused upon his uniform. Sheesh, it was only his second time since being recruited, and he already had his second set. It looked oddly large and awkward on him, almost like a costume. Suddenly, it all felt really heavy. Perhaps this was what rank really meant. Sighing, he sat down once more onto his stool, though making sure that no wrinkles were on his uniform. Nina would fuss again if that happened.

Suddenly, Hiruma looked up, took his cap in hand, then walked towards the curtain once more. Nina, not saying a word, walked behind him, then placed a hand on his shoulder. Her eyes widened in slight surprise as she felt his shoulders trembling. Slapping on his cap, then looking back, the shadow cast by the visor of the cap just barely covered up Hiruma's slightly watering eyes. The two just stood there in silence. Hiruma hated to lose...even if this loss would probably be to the benefit of all the others out there...

Silence suddenly took the room as the doors behind the assembled guests opened. A small countdown from a conductor was heard, then the marching began. Four lines of soldiers, two line from each group and dressed in their own colors, marched slowly, synchronized perfectly with each other up towards the stage, slowly converging and forming a path with alternating colors for their respective leaders to enter from. The directors in the way far back corners of the room waved their hands towards the cameramen in gathered around in their designated area. Their lenses flickered to life, dozens of red lights indicating that the event was now being broadcasted live to the world.

The negotiations had started.

Seth Skyblast could only smile as he looked himself over in the mirror. His new Sergeant's uniform gleamed, the insignias on his right and left shoulders almost bringing forth joyful tears. 'If only you could see me now Mother, I know you'd be proud...' The Pilot turned on his heel after pulling on his cap: Marching out to eventually take his position as the head of the Jovian Honor Guard and stand next to where Hiruma would sit, his back straight and head held high, ruby optics landing on a reporter who was whispering to another:

"That's him! That's the kid who started it all!"

Seth's lips twitched ever so slightly, evidently he was pleased that he had been recognized. That could work highly in the Empire's favor when the discussions commenced, and would provide excellent material to bargain with. After all, to the great majority of the populace of the negotiating nations: Seth was the one who made it all happen, and to that effect: The Empire were the ones who took the first steps. This would work well to balance the scales, for the words of the young man had become extremely influential among the masses from his one speech.

For now, the Sergeant simply waited for his superiors to enter: While all the while, the reporters spoke of the boy who might have single-handedly ended a war.

Londenar felt vaguely uncomfortable in his "dress" uniform, the heavily starched cloth felt far too stiff to be comfortable in. The feeling probably also stemmed from the fact that he had only worn the thing once before, and that was years ago at cadet graduation. And...the fact that there was a fairly good chance that the Union or the Republic would use this as an opportunity to strike at the top levels. Hopefully the security measures in place would stop somebody from doing something stupid, but Londenar knew they weren't always effective.

Walking down the hallways, he avoided the media crews and the spectators by donning his maintenance suit over his uniform and then ducking into a nearby airshaft. Calling up the floor plans from memory, he began crawling up the shaft, placing low-yield fragmentation proximity mines behind him. Finding the vent to the main negotiations room, he peered down to check if anyone had entered. Seeing only Hiruma and his....maid there, he quickly set the rest of the mines further up the ventilation shaft and managed to doff the maintenance suit before lifting the grate and dropping down.

"Am I early? Or did the other negotiators decide to be fashionably late?" He asked as he brushed himself off. "Looks to be a fairly good media turnout for this thing, and one of the officers out there seems to like the spotlight." He moved to take a seat behind Hiruma as the rest of the delegation started to filter in through the main doors.

Lets get this started

Takato sighed. This peace meeting was a good idea, but as Londenar had been saying earlier to him before they arrived, this was the perfect opportunity to strike at any of the side's top levels. Takato himself knew that some of the Jovians were disgusted by the idea of peace, mainly those who produced weapons, since it would take away their way of obtaining funds. In secret, he had landed his new ZAKU custom and stored it away safely, hidden from sight. Love it of hate it, Takato would defend this peace meeting with his life, no matter who attacked. He watched from the back, dressed in a slightly better attire than he would normally wear. He hated wearing suits, so this was more of a servant's uniform. But hey, whatever kept him out of immediate target range. The suit being on Earth had already been told to both his lieutenant and commanders, and they said as long as it was powered down and a safe distance away from the negotiations.

Sitting back, he watched as the ceremony started and the talks began. He only prayed that everything would go smoothly.

“So now it begins…” The words echoed through Dominic Sillas’ mind as he stood in front of a clay sculpt. His old but keen eyes wandered over the object’s surface…leaving no detail missed. As he did so, his mind ran through the last few years that had led to this moment. Could anyone really believe the massive leaps he had made in such a short time? He questioned it himself.

On a closed circuit television placed in the corner of the large dressing room, live camera footage of the pandemonium played from inside the massive auditorium. He didn’t watch it for it didn’t interest him. The sounds though flittered through the air as he heard the collected whispers and haughty statements from soldiers and officials on both sides. Together, they sounded like a mighty rumble. Chaotic: lacking form and function. That would be made to change in due time.

There was a knock on the solid, oak door, followed by the creak of aged hinges. A woman’s voice covered the roar from the television. “Imperator?” she asked smoothly.

“Yes Jessica, you may enter,” he said with a warm, caring voice without turning. He couldn’t peel his eyes away from the statue.

The middle-aged woman nodded to someone outside the door and then slipped into the room quietly. Her smooth movements and the formal and shapely dress she wore gave her the appearance of a woman no older than thirty-five. In reality, she was considerably older. She wore her chestnut hair conservatively: shoulder length and straight. Her heeled shoes crossed silently through the room until she stood a few paces from Dominic’s shoulder. She folded her hands together and waited.

“Have the preparations been completed?” he asked.

“Yes, sir. Everything is as you wanted it,” she spoke with perfect elocution to the back of the man’s head. Finally, she began to wonder what he was so enthralled in. “Sir, if you don’t mind me asking…”

“…When have I ever minded you asking?” His voice was pleasant. Today he was in a good mood and it showed.

She could cite quite a few times when asking a question would have been very inappropriate but she was a good judge and knew when to ask if she could ask. “What captivates your attention so much?”

“Ah,” he started, lifting his head up a bit. “I was just observing this sculpt. No doubt a piece of modern art.” This last part contained some good-hearted ridicule.

“If you would live it removed, I shall-“She began to step forward but was halted immediately by a wave of his hand.

“No, I don’t find it unpleasant. I was merely looking at its great movements…thinking of the hands that helped shape this little chunk of earth. Did the sculptor know what he was doing? Did he have a plan for it? Or did he simply follow its will…its flow to give it the shape it demanded? Oh, the untold possibilities that one man possessed for such an impressionable medium…the untold decisions he made to arrive at this.” His hand fell slowly from the air to gesture at the sculpt.

“I understand,” she whispered.

“No, you don’t,” he said flatly. His voiced contained no menace though. It was more ‘matter-of-fact’ than anything else. He turned on his heel, showing her a hint of a smile. “No one truly does until he-himself- is an artist.”

She nodded in agreement while giving him the once over. His custom tailored, navy blue suit with a gleaming but not gaudy tie. He looked perfect. That was her job after all. “Sir, we’re about to begin. If you’re ready-“ She motioned towards the door.

“Yes, of course. Let us begin the first act.” He smiled and turned completely from the sculpt and made for the exit.

"At long last, the end of the war must be near, eh?"

Those were the words of the seasoned veteran pilot, Antom Stride who had been waiting for this moment for several years now. His reason for joining the Earth Union was to bring the war to an end as quickly as possible, and sure enough it seemed to work. Now with a long, prolonged war under their belt, it seemed about time for the forces to get together in one area, one room to bring the needless blood shed to an end.

It was time to make their entrance. As he stood outside the office of the great one himself, the leader of the Earth Union, the Imperetor. He emerged from the doors, which signaled he was ready. Alongside him was his secretary. "And now, the great entrance..." Antom muttered to himself, saluting the man before they would begin their march towards the conference room.

Within minutes they would be at the conference room, as there were several soldiers lined up, creating the straight bridge into the room where the negotiations would be made to bring an end to the Solar War. There was an assortment of uniformed soldiers from the Jupiter Empire, the Earth Union and of course the Sulaymaan Republic. It was soon time for the negotiations to begin.

"Now to wait for the Republic Represenatives.." Antom muttered to himself as he took his seat.

A Waste of time was what it was....

"Comb your hair, Haru. Shave that shit off of your face! For god's sakes, you'll be on the Television!" Anna had said, foaming at the mouth in anger. "Why are you so determined to look like a hobo?" She continued, eyeing Haru's outfit. He was wearing his sparkling Officer's suit, adorned with multiple awards and patches, each recognizing a feat of his. With a broad and rich smile, Haru turned to see the mirror. He had grown since he had last taken a look...How long had it been? Many medals ago, and many battles. He had also lost quite a few friends, and had his share of close encounters. But now, it was time for it to all end, finally. Thankfully.

Quickly shaving, to Anna's relief, Harutomo stepped out of the door, planting a kiss upon her mouth as he fended off a toothed comb, as she fantically tried to push down Haru's unruly mahogany hair. He walked swiftly, out to the other Earth Union men and women, soon finding a spot by Antom Stride's side. As they continued down the hall, Haru spotted a bathroom, and his udders craved for a milkin'. Rushing to the bathroom, Haru noticed a shady figure enter the ventilations system. Ignoring his urge to take a whizz for a moment, Harutomo remembered his duties as part of the Black Omega. Drawing his handgun, and concealing it within his sleave as he approached the man, Harutomo drew his cell phone, pulling out the antenna and sending word to the Imperator's defense groups. They would approach immediately, and as they where on their way, Haru had other things to attend to, so as he quickly stowed his handgun inside his underwear, he swiftly moved back to the other Earth Union Personell accompanying the Imperator. That was where he belonged. Turning his head to blow in Antom's face as they entered the main hall, where the meeting was to commence. Haru took a seat on the edge near to the Jovian officers, to the odd glances from them as they realized his identity. Fighting the urge to stick his tounge out at them, Harutomo quickly shot his hand down his pocket, silencing his cellular phone, as things began.

"This should be fun." Haru whispered quickly, to Antom, with a nudge of the elbow, while he danced, trying to keep the shifting waters in his pants under control.

Just then, the secret ops of the Imperator where approaching the breached ventillation shaft. With a quick sweep, they located mines, of Jovian creation. They contacted the Imperator directly, warning him of this apparent threat.

Kojiru got off the designated diplomatic ship on the planet Earth, getting ready to head towards the Negotiation treaty between the Jupiter Empire and the Earth Union, with the proceedings being over seen by the Sulaymaan Republic. All the major powers were in play as the doors opened and all the forces entered the building. Kojiru stepped into the grand hall where the meeting of the peace treaty was supposed to be taking place. It was eerily quiet, no one to attack them or cause a disturbence, no one to fight anymore. This treaty had to come through, and everyone is the assembly knew it. Kojiru decided to sit up front, so that the Earth Union officers were spread out with the enlsited in the assembly. He watched as the procedings started, and shifted slightly, using his periphreal vision to see the Jovians also getting edgy. One wrong move, and this assembly would be over in a heart beat. Kojiru hoped for the best as he let out a sigh and listened to the opening ceremony.

Silas stood in his office. He had been dressed for over an hour already but had yet to leave. His thoughts kept wandering to the Union. Though he still didn't trust it he believed many lives hung in the balance of this meeting. He had already briefed his staff not to make any rude comments and to quickly silence anyone in the crowd who could cause anything even close to a riot. Each person entering through the main doors had been checked for weapons. t was then that David entered, along with Danny and Axel.

"We don't trust these guys at all." Said David starting up the conversation. Silas sighed, he knew they were very anti Earht Union and didn't trust them at all. Axel spoke up next saying "We've already picked off at least ten Earth Union men that were armed. Silas turned and glared "And how many of the Empires men came in armed? I expect at least fifteen. Did you let any through?" Silas read Axels emotions then sighed. "No, you didn't, good."

Silas stood and looked in the mirror. Everything was in order and he should have been out there by now. "Hey Danny, tell me as head of my security, how many men have you let stay armed out there." Danny scratched his chin. "Well uh about ten." Silas shook his head. "Well it can't be helped." He lifted his hand and pointed his finger into Danny's face. "But if anything goes wrong, it's on your head." Danny took a few steps back then nodded. "Yes sir." Smirking Silas motioned with his hand as everyone came closer. "No matter what happens here we'll always be brothers and children of the void." Silas put his hand out and waited. Danny went first and put his hand on top of Silas's soon followed by Axel. Silas turned towards David who glared back, but then his face softened as he put his hand in two. "Remember." Said Silas with an echo of "Remember" from the rest. With that he turned and went out the door and down the hallway. He halted in front of the door. "Now look sharp boys, make your mothers proud." He pushed the doors open and light streamed into the darker hallway as Silas stepped out onto the stage thinking to himself. Will this be the end of the old world or the beginning of a new one?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stepping out into the light Silas stared out into the chaotic crown of Earth Union and Jupiter Empire soldiers. It was clear that the whole crown was uneasy and separated, the JE on the left and the EU on the right. Mixed in with the EU were some SR soldiers standing out in their uniforms. After a closer look he saw in the far back an area where some Union soldiers and Empire soldiers were sitting Together. It made Silas smile for a moment, maybe there was a chance for peace after all. If only it were that easy. He looked over and already saw a few of the EU reps there but had yet to see the leader of the Union a man Silas had only heard tales of, a fierce opponent in battle even Commander Tawakashi had considered him a threat and he was the best in the Empire. He walked up to the podium and looked over to the man behind the curtains and nodded, he heard a bit of a buzz come from the mic then began to speak.
"Attention Union and Empire soldiers, Silence silence please." There was no response until Silas focused his voice blared out again not only through the mic but through the minds of everyone there. "Silence!" The room went quiet. It was like a pin could be heard dropping. He sighed and looked out into the crowd and began. "Most of you know why we're here and if you don't then listen up. Tonight the long War will be ended between the Jupiter Empire and the Union, peace will be made and the bloodshed will finally come to an end. Some of you may oppose this agreement, some of you are for it. For those who are against it do not feel betrayed, it is for the good of the entire galaxy that we end this once and for all. I am sure that non of us want this for our children nor even our children's children. On this day a vow of peace will be made and the bloodshed will end hopefully forever."
The Sulaymaan presence in the delegation chambers was notably smaller in size than those being presented by the Jupiter Empire and Earth Union, even though numerically they matched both sides militarily. It was perhaps expected, since the treaty was to be signed between the two empires and not the Republic. They had merely been invited as a witness and overseer.
Standing in a rigid formation near a side entrance to the hall, the Sulaymaan outfit was a stark contrast to the chaos of the rest of the room. Six enlisted infantry stood at a perfect parade rest in their pressed and spotless Urban dress, while a single Ensign stood infront and to the right of the squad. His own dress uniform devoid of almost any honors save a solitary bronze metal on his chest.
The enlisted mens polished leather sidearm holsters were empty on their hips, as to be expected in such delegations, however on their opposite hip it was plain to see they were not completely unarmed. At each mans waist two cannisters of mace and a single pistol-like tazer stood ready. Curiously, the snaps on every mans tazer holster was already undone.
Finally, the room fell to a hush as one of the most notable men in attendance filed in with his escort. The Imperator of the Earth Union, Dominic Sillas. The table set, all that was lacking was a man of note from the Sulaymaan Republic. At such a desperate time for peace, tardiness was not a common attribute of Sulaymaan diplomats. An intentional slight?
As the room held silent for another moment, perhaps many wondering where the Sulaymaan diplomat was, the door beside the Sulaymaan squad groaned open. Painfully slow. There standing alone in the opening was not a man of note, though clearly a man of the Republic. His officers dress uniform clearly presented that.
Standing just shy of six foot, the man filled his uniform perfectly. Broad shoulders and thick limbs accented a heavy set jaw and large brow. The man looked more a drill instructor than a diplomat, though he looked far from awkward in the uniform. The golden eagles sitting on his collar clearly marked him as a Major, a rank not even belonging to the Sulaymaan Imperium Assembly.
Another slight?
Marching foreword with a crisp and practiced demeanor, the man stopped just before the hamster-cage like blast chamber that had been assembled to protect the diplomats. It seemed almost comical such men of note would be confined in a small glass box, but the Majors face showed nothing but military discipline.
"By general order of the Khal of the Sulaymaan Republic, the honorable Alastair Riothamus..."
The mans voice was as deep as he was thick, but boomed with an unrivaled clarity and complete freedom of any accent. There would be no need for a speaker-phone or PA system for his speech.
"...No diplomat of the Republic will oversee or participate any negotiations with any figure, political or military, of the Jupiter Empire.
Instead, the Republic calls for the prosecution of those figures responsible for the Rolona incident - which was directly responsible for nearly two million civilian casualties within the borders of the Republic and an additional one hundred and forty eight million worldwide within the borders of the Earth Union and her protectorates. With many more wounded and maimed.
In addition, the Republic calls for the prosecution of all figures involved in the construction of the space-weapon Arbiter. A clear violation of the Arms Limitation Treaty of 0030. As well as other numerous cited treaty violations and crimes against humanity."
Finishing his declaration, the Major firmly - but not violently - planted his right foot behind his left and executed a flawless about-face. Waiting a heartbeat more, the man marched the same path he had entered and out the still open doors.
As the major passed the formation, the Ensign executed his own about face. His voice was commanding, but surprisingly delicate.
"Squad. Ah-ten-hut.
Column of files, from the right -"
"Stand-fast."
"March."
Without another word, the squad followed the Major out of the room in a crisp column. Their polished boots echoing on the floor in perfect harmony as the doors to the chamber slowly closed behind them.
sorry about the small post... post from last night didn't save and i had to do this quick.
Finally talk to end the war.... But how long could it truly last? Conrad thought to himself as he stepped out of the car and began heading to the designated building. The media coverage that this event was getting was no less then spectacular. He began dodging the reporters and straitening his tie as he entered the building
Knowing his purpose he stood outside the main doors that lead to the meeting. He was no a diplomat, he had no reason to be in there during the proceedings. Knowing no one could truly be trusted till after the papers were signed, he was put on as security. Lowering his head towards his collar, and placing 2 fingers to his right ear "I'm in position" he said with a low subtle voice.
Seth watched the indignant Major make his 'requests' with the faintest of smiles, the young man turning and leaning down to whisper into Hiruma's ear, doing his job and providing his superior with the proper words to quickly displace the idiocy of the Sulaymaan fools. Whilst speaking, his eyes trailed to the Imperetor, recognition flashing in his fiery optics as he finished whispering and re-took his stance at Hiruma's side, a victorious flash emanating inside his crimson orbs. Seth was young, but he was no fool: He had already spotted several exploitable sections in the Major's ignorant speech, and planned on letting Hiruma rip it apart.
OOC: Just putting my character somewhere close, as well as re-introducing him to the IC world. Read if you want, but nothing too exiting happens.
High above the historic negotiations, in a low but stable orbit, the Sulaymaan Republic's Dominion waited. It's escorts, two Salamis Kai class ships called Wellington and Dynamo, respectively, were mostly there for show. The Dominion was too, for that matter. It was only fitting that the Republic have its famous flagship on patrol during the Earth Union-Jupiter Empire peace talks, even if the Sulaymaan was to have no part in them. It also never paid to be too careful, because even on the eve of a possible peace, there would be those wishing to threaten it.
On the bridge of the Dominion however, almost everything was routine. The captain's chair had been vacated for General Ward, official commander of the "historic" patrol. Victor's red hair had a lackluster quality about it, and the General was clearly thinner and paler than he himself was used to being, let alone being seen. The flagship's master, a tall and thin man with dark hair and a piercingly all-business gaze, stood at prim attention to the General's right.
On the main communications screen, the interstellar broadcast of the peace accords was playing. The voices of various diplomats, military leaders, and even the media's talking heads during those times when nothing but old guys finding seats or photos flashing could be seen, boomed throughout the bridge. It was playing throughout most of the ship as well. The crack crew, all experts in their fields since service on the Dominion was long considered to be the fast track to promotion and a position of the elite, went about their business with professional indifference to the distraction.
Suddenly the real show began. The only Sulaymaan representative present made his appearance and gave his nation's position in no uncertain terms. General Ward grinned, grunting with satisfaction. Even he hadn't been told about that, but it made him glad as the former Commander in Chief of the Earth Union so see it happen. He couldn't agree more with the Republic’s position.
The Capitan though, almost jumped at the grunt. He'd misconstrued it for a cough. Victor seemed unbothered.
"Don't worry Captain," he began in a bored way, his voice astonishingly strong in contrast to his weakened appearance. "You wont catch malaria from me. I'm quite cured."
Victor smiled, slightly, and returned his attention to the Earth's surface. Especially right after he'd come out of the coma, most people in the "civilized" world had been afraid to so much as shake his hand. Four months had passed though, and the malaria’s effect was still lingering. Another two, Victor mused, and he'd look as healthy as he felt. Then all this contagious nonsense, hidden or not, would end.
Instead, the Republic calls for the prosecution of those figures responsible for the Rolona incident - which was directly responsible for nearly two million civilian casualties within the borders of the Republic and an additional one hundred and forty eight million worldwide within the borders of the Earth Union and her protectorates. With many more wounded and maimed.
In addition, the Republic calls for the prosecution of all figures involved in the construction of the space-weapon Arbiter. A clear violation of the Arms Limitation Treaty of 0030. As well as other numerous cited treaty violations and crimes against humanity."
Hiruma had to fight back an urge to pull out his pistols and just shoot the man then and there. His hands were trembling underneath the table as he listened to the Sulaymaan representative. Oh, so the suffering was completely one-sided was it? The Jupiter Empire was the only one at fault for all that had happened throughout this war. Bullcrap, bullballs, and hamster semen and rat bile. This man was completely full of himself and - ...He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then exhaled. He had to stay calm. Even if the man was a douche, he couldn't afford to anger the representative. However, he just couldn't let this fly by like this. Nina's eye twitched slightly as she saw Seth lean in close to Hiruma to whisper something to him.
Just who did he think he was, acting so close to Master...
Hiruma's mouth twitched, threatening to show his infamous devil-grin and shark-like teeth. This kid was quite talented at this sort of polite turn-aside maneuvers. However, Hiruma had not missed the points that Seth had chosen to bring up to his attention. Pulling out his book and flipping around a bit, Hiruma tipped his cap up slightly, then called out to the Sulaymaan representative.
"Don't just walk out on us, Representative. Come back in. Let's have a chat."
Straightening out his cap, Hiruma sat up straight in his chair, his eyes appearing to glow in the shadow of the visor.
"Besides, once you come in, the doors won't open until these papers are signed or some threat forces us to evacuate. Why don't you just take your time? Pull up a chair, would you please?"
After pausing a moment just to accentuate the moment, Hiruma began once more, this time, his slightly casual behavior completely cast aside in favor of a completely serious face.
"The Empire has heard the demands of the Republic and puts forth this statement, and let it go on official record: In return for the persecution of those responsible for the Relona incident, the Jovian people call for the immediate and unconditional surrender of all those responsible for the deaths of Jovian citizens, the arrests of superior officers who allowed the acts of violence to be carried out and the immediate destruction of Space Fortress Arbiter and the imprisonment of Khal Alastair for crimes against humanity, under the act of 0030. If this is agreeable to the Republic, we shall comply with their requests."
As an afterthought, Hiruma added his own piece in.
"Besides, Representative...We're not the ones who used the Arbiter. We created the sword and sealed it; you broke the seals and brandished it for your own selfish ends."
If anyone would want to take the time to write a good peace agreement please go ahead.
Silas sighed, it seemed the imperator had nothing to say and the time had come for the finale. The end of the war and the time for peace. His emotions were on edge, oh how many years ago was it that he had vowed he would blow every Union Scum from the skies of their own planet? Very long indeed. He thought to himself. He took a look back at the crowd then turned around to face the representatives. So what if the Republic wanted to continue this fruitless war? With the treaty between the Union and the Empire they would have no choice but to back down. Without the immense military strength of the Union behind them they were nothing but a pitiful shadow of something that was never great to begin with.
Silas approached the table where the Imperator was, as he approached the table he awaited for the man to stand before he sat the fancy looking paper down on the table. He looked up and spoke. "I'm assuming you have the words memorized?" Silas nodded his head. "But I'll speak, reading it off to the crowd."
On this day of the Universal Century [Insert Date] all acts of violence and war will come to a halt. The machines of war will be pulled back from their respective areas of battle and all troops will be pulled back. Prisoners of both opposing factions will be released and allowed to return their homes unharmed. Both faction leaders will in turn sign this agreement and end the needless bloodshed these two have brought upon themselves.
Silas drew a pen from the inkwell and examined it for a moment. It would be his keepsake from this day on to remember what had happened and all he had gone through. At this moment he remembered why he had been fighting, for a love long lost to the war started before his on birth. He spoke under his breath saying not quite loud enough to hear "Sorry Julia, I couldn't avenge your death. But I should have known from the beginning thats never what you would have wanted right? Heh'." He brought the pen down and began to write but to his amazement no ink came out. He shook the pen and tried to write but it appeared to be out of it. Thats when a tap was felt on his shoulder and he turned and there was Danny holding a pen. Silas examined it, an advertising pen from some place called "Phillips Gun Shop" Silas laughed out loud at the irony of the situation before signing the treaty. He then handed the pen yo the Imperator and looked up expectantly.
The Imperator entered the main hall of the auditorium, instantly surrounded by security personnel. He expected such a defense but he didn’t take kindly to it. He lifted a hand and gently laid it upon the guard’s shoulder to his front right. The large man swiveled his head with a surprised expression. To be personally touched by Dominic Sillas…
Dominic smiled kindly. “Thank you for the protection but this event requires my personal trust in the Empire’s soldiers. If we don’t have that, there is no reason for this at all.”
The guard began to talk but was silenced by the Imperator’s understanding yet forceful nod. The man glanced at the other soldier to his left, exchanging looks. Finally, the two stepped off to the side and the circle of security spread. Dominic felt relieved. This was more like it. He noticed Antom joining his precession. “Major Stride, it’s a pleasure to see you here,” he stated then giving a courteous nod towards Harutomo.
“Excuse me, sir,” spoke Jessica gingerly in a low whisper into the Imperator’s ear. “It’s starting, we…”
She needn’t fill in the rest. Dominic understood and began to walk. The others lurched into motion as well. Soon the Imperator entered the grand stage in a flurry of bright flashes from cameras and a loud rumbling from the collected voices. A monumental moment and the Imperator showed his best. He walked with a dignified grace towards the negotiations room. He looked at the giant box with a masked disgust. His opposition to the suggestion from security was well-marked by all those around him when the event was planned. “A disgrace to hide this moment behind bullet-proof, one way walls,” he silently thought. The orchestra struck up a great tune but it was covered underneath the voices and shutter clicks of cameras.
Now the commotion died off as he reached center-stage. His eyes met with the assembled officials from the Jupiter Empire. Only a skeleton crew of his original security and support staff remained behind him. He began to motion to the Jovians when the silent Sulaymaan Republic troops went into action. A Major marched up with strict authority. All attention fell upon him as he spoke out with severe confidence. “An interesting development,” he muttered silently as his careful eyes noticed the un-latched tazer holsters. “Ready for trouble?” The man’s words silenced the crowd. They were shocked. Dominic was not surprised. He remembered the Rolona Incident all too well. He was sure no one could forget. Obviously neither did Riothamus. Dominic toyed with the playful idea that the Sulaymaan leader did this only to complicate matters and rally up the Jovians. Dominic looked the video-cameras. He would no doubt see the results within half-an-hour. He smiled at the thought.
The Major finished his assigned speech, turning sharply and marching out. The performance called for an applause but he opted against it after witnessing the angered expression on the Jovian’s leading diplomat. It was best not to alienate him but he took subtle note of how his emotions got the better of him. He was obviously a soldier first, and a diplomat second. One was usually ill-suited for the other.
The Jovian took a few moments to collect his thoughts and then spoke out. Dominic believed the man’s name was Hiruma Youichi if he recalled the Intel reports correctly.
"Don't just walk out on us, Representative. Come back in. Let's have a chat."
"Besides, once you come in, the doors won't open until these papers are signed or some threat forces us to evacuate. Why don't you just take your time? Pull up a chair, would you please?"
"The Empire has heard the demands of the Republic and puts forth this statement, and let it go on official record: In return for the persecution of those responsible for the Relona incident, the Jovian people call for the immediate and unconditional surrender of all those responsible for the deaths of Jovian citizens, the arrests of superior officers who allowed the acts of violence to be carried out and the immediate destruction of Space Fortress Arbiter and the imprisonment of Khal Alastair for crimes against humanity, under the act of 0030. If this is agreeable to the Republic, we shall comply with their requests."
"Besides, Representative...We're not the ones who used the Arbiter. We created the sword and sealed it; you broke the seals and brandished it for your own selfish ends."
Dominic noted on Hiruma’s metaphor. “Clever, but don’t they say that the weapon’s owner is usually the one to be shot by his own gun?” It was a common gun control fact brought up time and time again. It didn’t make much of a difference just how ‘big’ the gun was. Jessica woke him from his inner workings as he her hand lightly touched his upper, back part of the arm. Her fingers quickly began pulsing secretly against it in arrhythmic patterns…the secret language taught to all amongst the Security group. She possessed a wireless radio in her ear. Now she reported that the Republic troops had decided against waiting for the man to finish his statement and had all ready left the building before the doors were sealed. Also, that mines had been located in the building, how interesting a gesture on the Jovian’s part. She pulled back her hand and took a step back.
When Hiruma seemed quite finish, the Imperator spoke out. "Don't waste your breath, Representative Youichi. You’re shouting at the backside of a long gone herald." He paused a moment. “The man was not a representative…merely a messenger. Even if he wanted to, he has no authority to negotiate. It seems that we quite understand the Republic’s intentions towards your group. They will not be as forgiving as we shall be.”
He cast a thoughtful look towards the Jovian’s reps and then back out to the crowd. “We may be able to quell the fire that the Republic still possesses towards you but only if we can get past our own issues quickly, and ‘peacefully.’” He added a bit of a sting to the last word. There was also the hint that there was a big gun over their heads and the EU may be the only shelter that could shield them from immediate Republic reprisals.
“Now,” he started with great energy and a charismatic smile and gestured towards the negotiation room. “Let us finish this.”
He walked into the room, knowing the others would follow. He waited for all to enter before he took his seat. One man in particular, he recognized from a moving speech that had been aired that prompted all this. Seth Skyblast had become quite the overnight sensation. He would be the closing comment for this event. The Imperator had all ready set his mind on it. He gave a knowing and kind smile to the man before they begun the negotiations.
Time passed and those seated in the grand auditorium began to grow restless with anticipation. What was being discussed? Will the two sides ever reach an agreement? These questions flitted through the air on everyone’s tongues. Inside the box, the group just finished another part of the agreement. So far, it had all been going as the Imperator had figured it would as he applied the leverage he obtained from the Republic’s action and the state of the Allies’ militaries in comparison to the Jovians. The fact that the water shortages began to be felt due to the destruction of the Water Plant Alpha and the blockade only added to matters. However, now they had sorted the issues and it would only be positive for the Empire from now on.
Silas Maxwell, a man he had learned of quite well during the negotiations, stood up from the table and approached Dominic with paper in hand. Dominic eased himself up and returned Silas’ expectant glance.
"I'm assuming you have the words memorized?" Silas nodded his head. "But I'll speak, reading it off to the crowd."
“Understood,” Dominic stated. After Silas finished signing, the Imperator added his signature as well. “And now it is done. May God forgive us for the follies we have committed.” He gave Silas a sincere smile. “I have one thing to add though. I would like Mr. Skyblast to speak his thoughts to the crowd, if that is not too much to ask?”
Seth smiled and inclined his head graciously to the Imperetor, turning towards where the media were and moving forwards, his head bent as he raised his hands, raising his head and lowering his arms whilst extending them, as if to hug the reporters and camera crew as a whole.
"Earthling and Jovian, for an age those two words have separated the colonists from the mother planet. Yet, are we truly that different as to be a different species? I beseech you all now, throw aside your petty squabbles. Alleviate yourselves of your grudges and and feeble rage, we now have no more quarrel with each other, for this treaty to even be necessary is proof that we have devolved to our most base, primal state! Open your eyes, we are not Earthling or Jovian, We are Human! In this world of ours there is no longer a difference in race, just as there is no longer conflict between the colonists. Earth is our mother planet, all of us. And from now on we shall be united, united for justice, untied for truth, untied for the glory of mankind!"
Seth brought his right hand to his left breast, over his heart as his left arm extended and... he bowed. "I humbly ask of you all to take my words to heart, to know your true enemy and fight them with all your might until we or they are dead... Your enemies are Deceit, Subversion, Dishonor, Violence, Brashness and Racism! Fight them with all you have and we may forge ourselves into a new world, a better world! For the preservation of our children's futures!"
I've got a gun in my hand but the gun won't cock,
And my finger's on the trigger but the trigger seems locked.
And I can't stop staring at the tick-tock clock;
And even if I could I would never give up!
