The Gerbera Tetra launched and looked for an opponent. ((ooc: DJ, I told you it would be less than three lines)) |

"This area? Hmmm... well, atleast I've got a moderate fix on our bogey friend. Let's not keep him waiting..." Ensign Rodrick said, zipping up the center of his Neo-Zeon space-suit and sliding the helmet on. Two days out, the captured Albion had managed to stave off pursuing Earth Federation Space Force soldiers that were giving chase to the newly acquired battleship and Gundam. More importantly, Rodrick's Gundam. "Full-Vernian. What a marvel when it comes to outer-space combat with this mobile-suit." He said, putting the helmet visor into fullview for all to see, making his way to the hangar throughout the ship. Opening the hangar doors from the elevator, everything de-pressurized around him as the zero-gee environment hit Rodrick's space suit, attempting to suck him into outer-space. Luckily for him, he wouldn't have to go far to get into his Gundam. Rodrick placed both feet against the wall, and aimed himself towards the direction of the Full-Vernian, and let off with a mighty kick that sent him straight towards his Gundam. Grabbing onto the railing, he slid himself down as the mechanics struggled to put the beamrifle into it's hand and the shield onto the mountings on the left forearm. Opening the hatch, it was almost impossible for Rodrick to see the interior of his cockpit, with it being almost pitch black on the inside. "Holy... it's beautiful." He said, admiring his Gundam. Something he had never piloted before, next thing he knew, Rodrick was the main pilot aboard the Albion after it's capture from the Sdyney base. Climbing into the cockpit, he clicked a few key buttons as the interior lit-up it's majestic blue screens, and information clicked in. "Maintenence... check. Weapons 'mmunition? Check. We're good." He said, clickly pulling forward a joystick as the Full-Vernian stepped into fullswing and made it's way towards the catapult. The alarms kept going off, signifying the Albion was taking further damage. Being the only mobile-suit aboard, Rodrick was the only one capable of repelling enemy forces. His maintenence crew cheered, as they admired the Gundam's engineering masterpiece. Stepping onto the catapult, the captain didn't bother to wait for verification. He shot Rodrick right out of the Albion, into the cold-hardness of outer-space. There, Rodrick was on his own from now on until Neo-Zeon reinforcements could arrive to lend a hand. Analyzing the battlefield, Rodrick's opponent came into plain view. Taking aim, two rifle shots were sent towards the torso. Then, Rodrick let the Full-Vernian loose, thrusting at maximum speed. |

((ooc: You honestly expect me to have that one liner be my intro? You said post, so I obliged. Be ready for the real thing, DJ. I'll school you in a mobile suit I've never even used before.)) Within the wide assortment of institutions created and devoted to teaching hopeful youth strategical piloting, there was always one thing in common. While they had different means to teach their young and used those techniques to ingrain knowledge into their little skulls. When stripping down these strategies to their core, several strings of words can be found that applied to all of teachings of the countless academies out there. When the enemy is in your sights... Attack them. When the enemy dodges or defends they counterattack... Evade it. When you cannot evade... Defend. When you cannot defend... Use it to your advantage. With these core principles used in all of their lessons, one does not need to attend any fancy academy in order to be a great pilot. To be labeled 'great' in anything, one cannot simply reiterate these elementary techniques. Rather, one must refine and create their own variation to these teachings by using their wit and instinct. Chris Adams, 40, a man with a penchant for anything unique, could easily be labeled as 'great.' Despite being a spoiled little rich kid from the day he was born, he cast away the aristocratic life in order to enlist in the military. He was perfect; rich, smart, and highly capable. Although his arrogance may get the better of him at times, he has enough raw common sense not to let it take over. That being said, Chris Adams was one of the few ace pilots of Zeon. While he may be an Earthnoid who threw his support with the space-dominated faction, he was well respected among their ranks. Being promoted to a commanding officer of a small fragment of their fleet, he rose through the ranks over the past decade. Today, he would be staging an assault on the Earth ship, Albion. Like many other ships before it, it had become a nuisance to Neo Zeon's attacks. Also, like countless officers before him, Chris was determined to destroy the Earth ship in this battle. How well he could accomplish this would be his ability as a mobile suit pilot as well as a commander. Like any foolishly brave commander before him, Chris Adams and his Musai Class ship took the role of scouting the Albion. However, unlike those commanders, he preferred to do everything strapped within his mobile suit when he expected a skirmish. And so, we can find Chris Adams safely buckled into one giant mechanoid drifting through space. "XO, status of the enemy forces?" Chris demanded, his rough voice clear through the communications line between the Musai and his mobile suit. A voice returned and filled his cockpit, "Commander, it appears that the enemy has launched one mobile suit to engage us." He chuckled, grinning with clear amusement visible on his face. "Identify the mobile suit." "The enemy has launched its prototype; the Full Vernian." the XO showed no hesitation in his voice, which implied that he had fought against a hostile prototype in previous battles. "Your orders" "Without that prototype, that ship is nothing." He said it in such as-a-matter-of-fact way that made it clear that he believed his words had quite a significant importance in them. "XO, you're in command. I'm moving to engage and distract the enemy mobile suit." With its light-colored frame making it much easier to recognize than your average unit, Chris had no problem deducing that the lone mobile suit approaching him was the enemy prototype. When they launch, expect an attack and evade. A common principle that served him well during his duels with other ace pilots of the Earth Forces. It would serve him well today when he noticed a slight movement within the enemy mobile suit's arm. Letting his instincts take over, the Gerbera Tetra's right shoulder thruster fired an explosion of particles that pushed the unit to the left. It easily evaded the two shots. At that range, you'd be better off using your vulcans, boy. He wasn't stupid enough to charge at the enemy mobile suit, and chose to perform a strafing motion instead. He wouldn't counterattack so early in this duel, and opted to make a much more strategical advantage. He began to circle around the enemy unit, keeping his distance and relying solely on his right side verniers and thrusters to push his unit in a wide arc around the Gundam. He had a solid plan derived solely of common sense. |

Quckly utilizing his assist motors, the Full-Vernian came to a near halt in it's place as it eyed down the Gerbera Tetra. "Damn. GP04 got a rehaul..." He said, lowing the beamrifle. Pulling the thruster switch backwards, the assist motors brought him backwards so he could put some "breathing" room between the two units. Rodrick was examining the Tetra from head to toe, trying to find a weakness he could use against it. Only thing he could see, would be the "wing" fenders on the back of his mobile-suit. "Probably... stabilizers, just to make sure it'll straight -just- right." Looking left and right, Rodrick quickly realized that the Tetra was not going to attack. At the moment, but he had some time to calculate an idea. That, was not his strong suit. Thrusting forwards, he decided not to allow the Tetra to get behind him. Raising the rifle, three shots were fired straight for the torso. He looked out of the corner of his eye, and saw that the debris field near them wasn't big enough to house them, so he wouldn't be able to take cover in there and gain a train of thought. Raising the left hand, Rodrick had the Full-Vernian grab a beam-saber from the backpack, incase he'd need it for later. He kept it latent, or not ignited. Element of suprise might have been out, incase the Tetra had seen it. He just wanted it just for an occasion incase he'd be caught off guard. That way, Rodrick would be ready. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, he decided to utilize his three-gee acceleration and go mobile on the Tetra, by staying in motion. It'd be incredibly hard for the Tetra's pilot to obtain a lock on the Full-Vernian, but if he did, it'd be hard for the shots to connect. But hey, there was always that one pesky shot that would connect with the mobile-suit, and do some decent damage. "Your move, friend..." He said, smirking.

((ooc: I know that, DJ.)) An eyebrow could be seen positioning itself higher than the other. Upon seeing the enemy mobile suit slow down and move in reverse, Chris couldn't help but chuckle. He couldn't find a reason for the enemy to do so. In fact, he could have taken advantage of the enemy suddenly decreasing its speed to fire the Gerbera's beam machine gun. With the inertia involved in the sudden change of direction, it would have been quite easy to score a shot or two. His mobile suit continued to circle the enemy, taking a different advantage that few would see or notice. Suddenly, the Full Vernian charged the Gerbera Tetra, raised its rifle, and fired a volley of shots once again. Upon seeing the rifle raised, Chris instantly began preparing the mobile suit to evade. The Gerbera's suddenly flared for a moment, maximizing acceleration potential and pushing the unit further along while evading the 'melting radius' of the beams by meters. Chris remained unharmed as he reduced his acceleration to its initial setting prior to evading the enemy's attack. With the evasion requiring little to no effort on his part, Chris was free to analyze the enemy's movements. Between the reverse-forward zigzag motion the Full Vernian performed, Chris couldn't see any logical reason as to why it would do such a thing. Had the enemy attempted to increase the distance between them and reduce accuracy for the both of them, it would have made sense if it simply changed direction. However, the enemy mobile suit defeated that possible logic by thrusting forward and counterattacking. One could only assume that he had done this odd movement to suddenly throw off Chris and maybe realizing that range was not their ally. Keeping close eye on the suit and his surroundings, Chris was quite satisfied in the progress he had made. By moving forward, the enemy had actually allowed the Tetra a smaller arc and the short burst of speed required for evasion had hastened him to his destination. The Tetra's weapons took aim at the enemy suit as the incoming beam harmlessly passed by. Upon evading or defending. Counterattack. While that principle implied that countering an enemy's assault should be immediate, Chris was about to break that unspoken meaning. He expected the enemy pilot to prepare to evade or defend against incoming shots as soon as the Gerbera Tetra it raised its right arm machinegun as well as the beam-based machinegun as well. He didn't fire just yet, grinning as his plan had come to fruition. Use everything to your advantage. The Gerbera Tetra had moved in front of the the sun, using it as a means to blind the enemy unit. It was a primitive technique that pilots seldom took advantage of. A natural advantage, the sun prevented the enemy from using its visual cameras to its fullest potential and even rendered most light and heat-based tools nigh useless. As the red suit was positioning itself, its arm machinegun released a volley of shots at the enemy's general location. While machineguns lacked in single shot accuracy in long ranges, they more than made up for it in spread damage. As the volley was halfway finished, the Gerbera Tetra positioned itself in front of the sun, cutting its thrusters and firing a volley from the beam machinegun in the process. The beam machinegun was a very powerful weapon in that it could be used with greater spread shot damage than your standard solid round machineguns. At this range, the spread damage would no doubt hit the enemy unit. Classic... ((ooc: This is one of my classic moves. *grin*)) |
