Personality: An average guy, Edmund suffers from only one ailment, the constant need to push himself further in his career. Cold and calculating, he rarely celebrates and is what one might call a straight arrow. Edmund is completely devoted to the Earth Union and their Armed Forces, which is life for him. He remains fiercely patriotic and believes in a single rule over the Earth sphere. If there is one thing that, in his heart, Edmund fights for, it is not revenge. He is thoroughly convinced that he is fighting for good, peace, and stability for all mankind and thrives from that. Far from a hypocrite, Edmund remains to himself and his unit always, and would never dishonor either by steeling, acting ungentlemanly, or lying.

Biography: Edmund Row was unlucky enough to be born only seven years before the first Earth Union/United Colony Nations war. He would never know how different from what used to be called “normal” his life would become as battles began on a scale not before seen in Earth’s history. A life of watching news reports from his home town of Belfast left Edmund as one of many in the growing number of generations brought up by the war. The war took over everything from literature and propaganda to daily school routines and drills. Even the kids seemed to play army day in and day out, all the while seeing and hearing of the horrific battles being waged throughout the Earth Sphere.

In this way Edmund, ever naïve like so many others, remained separated from the war, caught up in his own childish views of the world and not yet touched by the violence. Taught to believe the UCN cause was wrong and taught that the spacenoids were “the bad guys”, Edmund, like all his buddies, boasted about what he would do when he was old enough to be drafted.

All the while constant war began to change things little by little. Food was bought with stamps now and people began to give long and boring lectures about conserving and recycling. Everything began to tie into the war, gym class becoming training, the math and science curriculum changing to incorporate little things about weaponry technology bit by bit.

Everything culminated in early 0021. The Vaporization bomb, at the forefront of every newscast and newspaper report, was usurped by the news of the solar system. Already people were speculating about the simultaneous end of both Earth and her many satellites thanks to UCN reprisals and then EU retaliation. It wasn’t long after then when the madness began. Everyone seemed to be packing, moving, unpacking, waiting in traffic, applying for passports. Vap-bombs, as they were quickly becoming known, had struck cities and military bases alike all over the world. Places of historically political and economic prominence such as London, Tokyo, and New-York were all gone in hours. News reports, when they could be had, spelled doomsday for either all of the Earth or maybe just a city or two at any given time. Government advisories gave no information. People were trapped, running to and fro, trying to escape from their city homes to less populated areas in mass, all the while hoping that they wouldn’t simply vaporize.

Edmund ended up leaving Belfast with his Grandmother, his only living relative. His parents had not received their passports in time for the flight and elected to get their son out of what they thought was the path of danger before they could accompany him. Not a day later Belfast, at least as Edmund had known it, ceased to exist. Five months later Edmund’s Grandmother died of old age, though the recent war, loss of her family and suddenly hopeless situation in the midst of world crisis probably helped things along quite a bit.

On the day of the ceasefire declaration Edmund found himself in one of many overcrowded, government run orphanages. Life was hard and certainly not pleasant. It was almost as if Edmund ended up robbed of his childhood at the age of ten. Even two years later when peace was declared Edmund found himself with a cold hatred of the UCN. They had certainly created more death and destruction and misery on a larger scale then ever before in history. His parents were gone, his life gone, his home, everything. And he wasn’t the only one. The world turned into an unhappy place for all as people tried to re-build. The fact that the UCN were the bad guys, drilled into young Edmunds head from the beginning, mixed with circumstances to produce one of millions of people who would never forgive the spacenoids and never stop hating the colonies.

Edmund got his High School diploma at 18, in the year 0029, with the rest of those his age and quickly found himself enlisting in the Earth Union Armed Forces. Pouring himself into his training, Edmund was soon picked up by a special Mobile Suit Unit and sent into a year long training program more rigorous then any other form offered by the EUAF. Even as the war raged Edmund’s unit was not deployed, one of the few allowed to take the full amount of prep time decided before the second outbreak of fighting. Known as the Devil’s Brigade, Edmund is finally deployed with the special unit after living, eating, sleeping and breathing nothing but Mobile Suit combat operations and even maintenance for an entire year with a more grueling training regimen both physically and mentally then even he would have thought possible. The Brigade, made up pilots who were supposed to be a cut above the rest and the support crew for their machines, saw action soon after Operation Golden Phoenix. Edmund, along with his comrades, are now eager to prove themselves and the value their “elite” unit.
