I am dying to discuss the book, events which took place, unanswered questions, the strange Epilogue as well as other many occurrences in the book! I do believe we should do it by chapters to make the discussion easy to refer to!

The chapter opens with an except of a Greek tragedy and goes on with another excerpt by
William Penn.
Later on I shall post what I understand what the relation of the to may have to the book.

The chapter opens with Snape and another Death Eater arriving at the Malfoy's Manorat which Voldemort has a meeting with his minions, deciding as to when would be best to capture Harry Potter.
Snape and Yaxley both give Voldemort information as to when will Harry be removed from the Dursley's. We are told by Voldemort about the a breakout from Azkaban which has freed Lucious and other Death Eaters, (present at the meeting), and how they have succeded in infiltrating the Ministry of Magic. 0

Voldemort knows he cannot use his wand to kill Harry and requests a volunteer to lend him a wand, when no one speaks up, he asks for Luiciois's. The later thinks he is to have Voldemort's wand in the mean time and Voldemort sneers and laughs at his thought.
We are told of Remus and Tonks's marriage, and see Voldemort amuse himself upon how this marriage has "tainted" the Malfoy and Black bloodline. We also see and learn for the first time ever the name Charity Burbage, the teacher Of Muggle Studies captured and killed.

1. Upon the arrival of Snape and Yaxley to the Malfoy Manor, Yaxley's comment on "Peacocks..." strutting on the grounds, was said to be made with a "snort." What does this say about the relationship between Yaxley, the other Death Eaters and the Malfoys?

2. Who do you think was the "source we discussed" to which Snape makesreference and Voldemort understands it to be?

3. Who do you think was the prisoner which Wormtail had been instructed to keep quiet? What made you think so?

4. How would you describe the Malfoy's attitude in this opening chapter and why?

5. What effect did Charity Burbage's captivity and death have on you as you read the part?

Oh my goodness, what an amazing book!!! I think this one is my new favourite of the series, thrilling from the start to the very end. Although dark and dreadfull at times Rowling has not forgott to put in her great sense of humour. What an awesome end to the series!!! Thank you so much JK Rowling for this great finale :ex

I read the book in one so it's a little difficult to answer all your questions, because of course I know what is going to happen now...

Anyway, I think this chapter shows clearly what the Malfoys got out of sympathising with Voldemort. I actually felt quite sorry for Draco and his mother (not so much for his father, though...) and it gave me a feeling that Dumbledore couldn't have been too mistaken, as far as Draco is concerned. Not everything seems lost on that boy...
Snape, however, doesn't seem to be touched by the fate of poor Charity Burbage which made me hate him even more. TRAITOR... :evil

1. no clue

2. no clue

3.wormtail was trying to keep Ollivander quiet since i think he was the only one that voldermort had captive besides burbage.

4. throughout the whole book i just had a feeling that the malfoys were tyring to break away from voldermort.

5. her death never had an effect on me because i dont remember reading about her in any of the other books so it was just a new character that died right away to me.

Haha, this feels like one of my language arts quizzes. I thought that this book was a great end to the series, though I'm sitting here thinking, is this really the end? I liked the epulogue how Harry had great respect for Snape now, but I felt it left some loose ends to be tied up.

My favorite was Prisoner of Azkaban, now it has gone to a second place. I think the book is outstanding!!! It is everything I hoped for. I am re-reading it a lot more slower, making notes and high-lighting things! I want to read to digest it slowly this time round!!!

I have a family of 6 who need to finish :( But luckily I read first. I love how at the end Harry gets a normal life, something hes always longed for. I didn't get to digest all the details, but I don't believe we found out what Dudley's dementor was, we didn't have someone do magic late in life, and Harry's eyes didn't have a role to play.

You are correct. We don't get to know what Dudley saw under the Dementor attack, we did not learn what did Harry's parents did for a living,; nor when did they defeat Voldemort 3 times. I think, not sure, Ted Tonks was the one to do magic later in life; he was supposed to be a Muggle to which Andromeda married and got blasted off from the Black Family tree for it. He cure Harry's tooth, and ribs after they arrived at their place.

The only thing I picked up about Lily's eyes was that before Snape died he asked Harry to look at him because he wanted the last thing to see before he died was her eyes, even if it was on Harry's face.

Yes, I noticed that bit about the eyes, but it didn't play a major role. I like how Harry and Dudley made up in the end, even if we didn't see his dementor.

Didn't, in the Epilouge, Harry look in to Albus's (his son) eyes and say he was the only one to inherit Lily's eyes? But other then that and what annie mentioned, I don't think i read anything.

HERE I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE EPILOGUE AND THEN I FOUND THIS AT MUGGLENET!!!!!

Stop your sobbing! More Potter to comeJ.K. Rowling tells TODAY she will write an 'encyclopedia' on characters

In her only television interview after the highly anticipated release of the seventh and final installment in the Harry Potter series, author J.K. Rowling will sit down with NBC's Meredith Vieira in Edinburgh, Scotland, to discuss the conclusion of her series for the first time.

Tune in to TODAY on Thursday, July 26, and Friday, July 27, to see the interview.

Spoiler alert: This story reveals some key plot points in the final Harry Potter book. So if you've haven't finished the book, J.K. Rowling asks that you not read this story.

For the millions in the midst of the seven stages of mourning for the end of the Harry Potter era, take heart.

In her first tell-all interview since the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” J.K. Rowling told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira she "probably will" publish a Potter encyclopedia, promising many more details about her beloved characters and the fate of the wizarding world beyond the few clues provided in the seventh book’s epilogue.

“I suppose I have (started) because the raw material is all in my notes,” Rowling said.
The encyclopedia would include back stories of characters she has already written but had to cut for the sake of narrative arc (“I've said before that Dean Thomas had a much more interesting history than ever appeared in the books”), as well as details about the characters who survive “Deathly Hallows,” characters who continue to live on in Rowling’s mind in a clearly defined magical world.

Hogwarts, for example, has a new headmaster (“McGonagall was really getting on a bit”), and Rowling said she can see Harry going back to give the "odd talk" on Defense Against the Dark Arts. That class, by the way, is now led by a permanent professor since Voldemort’s death broke the jinx which didn’t allow a teacher to remain in the position for more than a year.

Rowling offered up these details freely to Vieira and the 14 fans who asked her questions at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland on Tuesday. In fact, now that she is now longer burdened with guarding the secrets of book seven, Rowling seemed to delight in discussing her plot choices and clearing up the mysteries that have previously surrounded the books.

The character Rowling couldn’t bear to kill
One of the big stories that has been floating among fans for over a year is that one character gets a reprieve from death, while two others Rowling didn’t intend to kill end up dying in “Deathly Hallows.”

“Mr. Weasley, he was the person who got a reprieve,” Rowling said. “When I sketched out the books, Mr. Weasley was due to die in Book Five.”

Instead, another father dies in the end of Book Seven.

Though Rowling couldn’t bear to kill off Arthur Weasley, that didn't mean the other deaths in the book were easy to take. Given the blood bath that is “Deathly Hallows,” the writing of it was bound to be an emotional roller coaster.

But nothing in the entire process of the series was more difficult than writing the scene when Harry, accompanied by his deceased lost loved ones – including his parents James and Lily and his godfather Sirius — walks into the forest with the intent of sacrificing his life in the name of defeating Voldemort, Rowling said, adding it is her favorite passage in all seven books.

“I didn't cry as I was writing (that chapter), but when I finished writing, I had enormous explosion of emotion and I cried and cried and cried,” Rowling said.
“That was partly because of the content — and partly because it had been planned for so long and been roughed out for so long. And to write the definitive version felt like a — a huge climax.”

“The Deathly Hallows” is the climax to the last 17 years of Rowling’s life, a time when she has gone from a single,
divorced mother living on public assistance to a happily married mother of three and one richest women in the world.

It’s now time to sit back for a bit and enjoy the life that Harry has given her, Rowling said. And, when she’s ready, there’s always that encyclopedia waiting in the wings.

“I’m not going to do it tomorrow because I’d really like a break,” Rowling said, laughing. “So you may be waiting.”

INTERESTING HUH?????

Oh and for that person that Wormtail was suppose to keep quite. I thought it was Ollivander. :$

No, the cup was destroyed by Hermione. Remember when Ron said, I thought she should destroy it. She hasn't yet had the pleasure. She stabbed it with a basilisk fang. And what time is the Today Show on in Virginia?
