I was discussing the importance of Eragon and the Ancient Language on another site, and I thought I would share my theory with my first love, BooksNmore, in a thorough manner.I have based my theory is based on what Solembum told Eragon:

"Listen closely and I will tell you two things. When the time comes and you need a weapon, look under the roots of the Menoa tree. Then, when all seems lost and your power is insufficient, go to the Rock of Kuthian and speak your name to open the Vault of Souls."

[“When the time comes and you need a weapon,” notice Solembum has not specified what kind of weapon. It can be an actual weapon, such as a sword.
We are all aware of the fact that Eragon lost Zar’roc to Murtagh, so he’s weaponless. However, I am of the ones who think Eragon’s sword would be Eragon’s the 1st Elf’s sword. Can you imnagine the power behind he who wields this sword? Since we do not know what became of Brom’s sword, (other than he lost it,) I think it would be too obvious for this to happen. And while it is also too obvious for the weapon to be “under the roots of the Menoa tree”, it is likely that he who united elves and Dragons would come to aid the one who is the last hope for elves, dragons, dwarves and humans; Eragon.

“Then, when all seems lost and your power is insufficient…” After what we’ve all seen at the end of Eldest, Eragon was no match to Murtagh’s magic. I am not talking about his strength. He had been in battle all day long so it was expected for his energy and magic to wane. However, Eragon himself mentioned “How can he still be human and have the strength to do that? wondered Eragon.” Even with my new abilities, such a task would leave me gasping for air and unable to walk.” Eldest, 650
So Eragon (and Paolini) are telling us how magically strong Murtagh has become; Eragon’s power is “insufficient” at this point. And to make the storyline believable, Paolini cannot just give him sudden “super powers.”

Let us continue, “…go to the Rock of Kuthian and speak your name to open the Vault of Souls.” Speak your name, when he does speak his name, I believe he will learn the name of the Ancient Language, giving him the weapon to destroy Galbatorix.
Let’s face it, Eragon will not be able to defeat Galbatorix by any other means.

By Brom’s own words: “…Does this language have a name?” Brom laughed. Yes, but no one knows it. It would be a word of incredible power, something by which you could control the entire language and those who use it. People have long searched for it, but no one has ever found it.” Eragon, 145.
This would be the only weapon which would enable Eragon to defeat Galbatorix. By knowing the name of the Ancient Language, Eragon would have the upper hand, thus, having the ability to neutralize any spell or magic dark or not, that Eragon would be able to counter attack and win.
So there you are, the clue of it all is for Eragon to learn the name of the Ancient Language, which he would learn as he opens the Vault of Souls.
So there it is!!! Any thoughts???

I doubt he would learn the NAme of the Ancient Language...what if he spoke/used it and it ended up causing castrostrophic events? What if it effected everything that spoke it when he only ment to se it on one person?
