While changing the sheets to my bed I was listening to "Eragon", again. Arfter Ayra has fought Eragon to test his fighting skills they walk away from the paractice field and converse. Eragon asks her "What does the tattoo on your shoulder mean? I didn't mean to see it, but when I was healing your wounds... it couldn't be helped. It's just like the symbol on this ring." Eragon, 463 She explains what it means, but further on she says; "...tell no one of my tatoo. It should not be revealed." Eragon, 464 Why was she so adamant for Eragon not to mention it to anyone? What significance can it have which makes her act so secretive and convey the importance of keeping it as such? I'm confused here. Will this scene come to play an important issue in the last book? If so, how so? |

This is what she said: "This is a token given only to the most valued elf-friends─so valued, in fact, it has not been used in centuries. Or so I thought. I never knew Queen Islanzadí thought so highly of Brom." Eragon, 463. |

She does not want other people besides Eragon and Orick to know she's royalty, but somehow in the audio it seems more than that! |

it is more than that bc Brom is not elf royalty he is a human rider She hesitated again. "They disliked my choice to become the Queen's envoy and ambasssador; it seemed inappropriate. When I ignored their objections and still had the yawe tattooed on my shoulder- which indicates that I have devoted myself to the greater good of our race, as is the case with your ring from Brom- my family refused to see me again." |

I've been listening to Eldest, AGAIN, and I found out something, in Eldest, page, 231 Islanzadi tells Ayra: "You never would have suffered so if you had taken my councel. I was right to oppose your decision to accept the yawë." We already know that yawë means "bond of trust", and we also know this "commitment" Ayra made caused to be banished from her mother's sight, (such a sweet and forgiving mother) for 70 years. Brom had the ring with the yawë symbol too. So bond of trust of what in particular?????? |

ok IT would be a bond of trust in the ancient language that permits you into any elven city for safe haven. IT means you will cause the elves no harm and am willing to sacrafice yourself for the good of the elven race. |

She made such a fuss of Eragon not telling anyone about it. If it's just a symbol of trust, I don't see why it should be such a secret and big deal!! |
