Who said crazy people are not smart? On the contrary, they are usually bright. We have yet to see how his craziness has affected Shruikan. I feel sorry for the poor lizard. He never had a chance to be good.

How can we explain that with Shruikan? He was only a hatchling when Galbatorix twisted him into Black magic.

Saphira was wise from the beginning why should it be different with Shrui?

I would say because Eragon was not experienced or interested in black magic. He was awed at the fact that the stone was a dragon egg and it hatched in his bedroom.

Yeah but that's not dark magic. Galby is the one that uses dark magic.

Shruiken maybe wise but is bound to Galabatrix and can't do a thing about it. If one is wise and cannot use their wisdom can one still be called wise?

That would be a big definite no! But in this case Shruikan is not only bound, but has been twisted through Dark Magic by Galby.

I believe that shruikan was Brom's old dragon that brom thought was dead, and then through dark magic galby twisted her/him to turn balck and serve him by his will.

Shruiken was twisted to serve him. Shruikens mind was not "twisted" completely.

And for you Mister Wolf, that is quite the idea I never though about that...

But remember Brom's dragon died after Galabatrix rose to power

The lack of this bind is why Galbatorix's partnership with Shruikan, his second dragon, is such a perverted union. Shruikan did not choose Galbatorix as his partner: he was twisted by certain black magics into serving Galbatorix's madness. Galbatyorix has constructed a depraved imitation of the relationship you, Eragon, and you, Saphira, possess and that he lost when the Urgals murdered his original dragon."Eldest 440

Cactoos, I am soPosted Image. If that doesn't mean that Shruikan was "twisted by dark magic" by Galbatorix then I would need to commit myself. I do not recall or find anywhere in the books which indicated that Shruikan was not totally or partially twisted into servitude by Galby. I may be wrong, but to me he would be either totally twisted or not; but not partially!

Thats what made me think of this theory.Mabe brom was just fooled to make it look like his dragon was dead by galby, but then it was really alive...What I want to know is is shruikan is a male or felame and ya know that shruikan's orginal color isn'y actually black. if I can find out shrukans true gender and scale color I might be able to say hat meybe my theory could work.

It's too late for me to look it up, but I am sure it is mentioned that Shruikan is a black dragon.
In regards to Shruikan being Brom's dragon, I don't think so. After all Oromis explained Eragon what happens when a Dragon dies to his Rider. I clearly remember him saying Brom went mad with grief and then decided to hunt Morzan down.
