WOW 20 to 50 character more adept to become a Rider? That's quite a few too many!

Yeah. Seriously. What makes her special? NOTHING!!! Roran wants to marry her. She is only to be a reason for Roran to go to Surda and later for Eragon and him to go to the Helgrind.

No, I'm with you on this one. Roran would have more possiblities of becoming a Rider than Katrina.

Horst would have more of a chance, Orinn, ANY HUMAN we have met so far, besides, I think the woman who takes care of Elva, has a better chance than Katrina.

Why is that? What makes Roran a better rider than Katrina? He has as much knowledge of magic as a flie has. And magic is much more important for a rider than fighting, I think. Besides, we don't know what happend to Katrina, since she was captured by the Ra'zac. Fact is, that she is still alive. Why would the Ra'zac have brought her to some obscure city, instead of eating her? That would have been much more comfortable for them, than transporting her to Dras-Leona or Uru-Baen. If there is the slightest chance for Galbatorix to get a second rider under his command he will take that chance! There is no other human captured by the Ra'zac. That is what makes Katrina speciall!

She is what we call "bait". :P Galbatorix can't get another rider or Eragon won't stand a chance. Right now, Katrina is just a damsel in distress.

I don't think she is a "damsel in distress"! In another topic you just mentioned that CP has not the clichee like image of women in his book. So why should Katrina be like that?

I never said that Galabatorix WILL get another rider, I just said that it would be a chance for him to have a second rider if the egg should hatch for Katrina. And even IF it hatches that does not mean that Galbatorix can actually controll Katrina. Maybe the egg would hatch for her, while she is freed (but that is a little unlikely, I admit).

Anyways, I don't see any point that makes Rotan a better rider.

she has no merit at all. Vanir is a better choice, and I don't say that lightly. But, still, Arya is the best choice.

Wait a minute!!!! I agree that Katrina is just the "bait" for the time being. It's the only way Galbatorix and the Raz'zac's woll be able to get a hold on Roran and Eragon. They know she is bound to be rescued, however, I don't perceive Katrina being a "damsel in distree". She has some charater as she proved by defying her father.

And did that involve anything but spunk? NO!

We do not know that, IMNC! After all CP left us at that. She did not go without a fight! The Raz'zac did not take her away in a panic, fearful surrender as would a "damsel in distress" would. So you cannot categorically negate she has no will power or the fighting fire inside her.
