The thing is that CP gave that "hint" in his interview and besides Ayra I cannot think of anyone else. I am betting that Roran and Eragon will be descendants of King Palancar. CP has mentioned the "King Palancar" thing a few times through different characters and it got me going and thinking why did he make those casual references.

LoL another off toppic sry  I was just trying a real metal sword last week and it's unbeliably cool weapon! It's so light and fast! Now I defineteli don't like Roran's surviving :P

Hey you think that Roran (that little slimy peasant!) is on of the king's Plancar's grandchildrens? <_<

Well Roran could be, but would Eragon be a direct decendant because of Selena? Roran seems more like the Royal type

That's what my daughter has been propsoing for like, umm let me see, forever. She believes Eragon and Roran are descendants of King Palancar.

it's possible, but it is probably only Roran. wait a sec. that might not be a bad thing if Eragon is a direct decendant of King Palencar.... anyone catch my drift?

Just think about this, at the end of Eldest, this conversation toook place between Roran and Eragon:

"Roran was silent for so long, Eragon began to wonder if he would ever respond. Then: "You have made mistakes, but they are no greater than my own. Garrow died because you kept Saphira a secret. Many more have died because I refused to give myself up to the Empire.... We are equally guilty." He looked up, then slowly extended his right hand. "Brother?"
"Brother," said Eragon.
He gripped Roran's forearm, and they pulled each other into a rough embrace, wrestling to and fro as they used to do at home. When they separated, Eragon had to wipe his eyes with the heel of his hand. "Galbatorix should surrender now that we're together again," he joked. "Who can stand against the two of us." (Eldest 666)
Who can stand against the two of us? Is CP foreshadowing the possible strength of the two as Riders? The both have the determination and a goal, a reason to stand together against him.

Think back on how many times CP has made reference to the "farmer boy" and how far the "farmer boy" has come. Not only Eragon, but Roran too.

What about this other excerpt:

Then Garrow's words to them as Roran was about to go to Therinsford:
"Consider none your superior, whatever their rank or station in life." (Eragon 64)

At first I did not make much of this; but what if Garrow knew their blood lineage and never mentioned it?
Why were both Garrow and Selena described as proud people? Maybe because they were aware of their ancestor's noble lineage?
Why if Garrow knew how to read and write, he never instructed the boys in their letters, but only in their numbers?

And this excerpt:
"After the smith left, Roran opened the side door and found Elain talking with Gertrude by the large pile of firewood Horst maintained year-round. The healer went up to Roran and put a hand on his forehead. "Ah, I was afraid you might have a fever after yesterday's excitement. Your family heals at the most extraordinary rate. I could barely believe my eyes when Eragon started walking about after having his legs skinned and spending two days in bed." (Eldest 255)
What a coincidence that both boys heal at an accelerated rate! (Could it be the magic in their blood?)

What if CP is throwing red herrings leading us to believe the obvious, that Ayra will most surely be the next Rider? Then he mentions the color of the magic not being necessarily of one definitive color? That it can change depending on the Rider?

My only big ? is Katrina. Will she die and her death be the force that will drive Roran to exact revenge from the eEmpire, AKA, Galbatoris/the Ra'zacs?

Quite a bit to think about, huh!
 :o ;) :o ;)

who said anything about them having to be riders to work together? they could fight on two fronts: Eragon w/ the elves and Roran w/ the Varden.

ummm.......i'm pretty sure that it is just coincidence. royal blood doesn't improve healing. and she was refering only to Eragon and the coincidential Roran there.

he could be throwing false red herrings, but once you question one thing to that extent, you have to question all to that extent, and then you have nothing.

I underlined 'he joked" because that is a literary resource used to divert the importance of what has been previously said.

Well they are blood related. They are cousins. Garrow, Roran's father; Selena, Eragon's mother; Garrow and Selena are brother and sister. So, yes, even if Brom is Eragon's father, the noble blood would be by his mother and uncle's lineage.

Brom is not Eragon's father. I don't have the book with me right now, but at the end of Eldest, Murtagh tells Eragon in the ancient language that Morzan was his father, and that Murtagh was his brother.
