Absolutely, I agree. At least I believe he remains pure of heart. Even though so many weird things have befallen him, he is able to work his way out of his dark thoughts. Besides Saphira is always there to pull him out of his "down and blue" moments. |

I would say, revenge, hopelessness, despair, doubt, sense of unworthiness and the likes are very dark thoughts. I doesn't all have to do with Black Magic, if I am understanding your question. These thoughts and feeling can diminish Eragon's magical performance. At least I see it as it. |
