i was just thinking last night, what if Arya kinda does love Eragon, but she has not come to terms with it and is denying it internally???? Thusly I guess she COULD say that she doesn't love him, because she doesn't believe it to be true.

I'm not saying that I really believe this. I just need to question my own theories to strengthent them.

Cheeze Wheeze IMNC, that was what I had been trying to tell you SINCE SAPHIRA FORUMS!!!!!

well, this is only a temporary theory that I will be arguing so i can strengthen my existing theory. i'm going through eldest and am writing down ANY reaction Arya has had to do with Eragon. but there won't be evidence enough to credit it.

I got bored. I'm not doing it anymore. but still, she doesn't do much to tell us that she has feelings for him. ALL of the stuff that you can, can also be said that she feels sorry for him and/or is good friends with him.

I guess I feel, and this is very personal, IMNC so pls don't jump all over me on this) Ayra is trying to keep things on a platonic level. She may be trying to convinvce herself she has no romantic feeling for him. This is the only way, I feel, that striking up a relationship between the two would be believeable.

this is what Wiki has on Platonic Love (it doesn't sound like what Arya is up 2): In the fourth century BC, the Greek philosopher Plato [428-347BC], disciple of Socrates and teacher of Aristotle, positioned the view that one would never love a person in that person’s totality, because no person represents goodness or beauty in totality. At a certain level, one does not even love the person at all. Rather, one loves an abstraction or image of the person’s best qualities. Plato never considered that one would love a person for his or her unique qualities, because the ideas are abstractions that do not vary. In love, we thus look for the best embodiment of a universal truth in a person rather than that of an idiosyncratic truth.

Merriam-Webster has a better definition, simple and traight to the point:

pla·ton·ic: of, relating to, or being a relationship marked by the absence of romance or sex

basically just friendship.

here's a formula (i don't think that it's true, but it fits 4 this): Love = Sex + Friendship (also from wiki. i LOVE wiki. but then that def. doesn't fit love.... lol. I'm confuzzing myself) if you take out sex, it isn't love.

I still think that CP will end up hooking up to give the readers that warm fuzzy feeling at the end of the book.
