Now I am serious!! For those of you who have Eldest on hand, turn to page 154. Read the last two paragraphs. I see it as a forshadowing of Eragon, & Ayra's relationship and this particular quote as Ayra being the Next Rider!! !!! What do you think? It fits perfectly; "Ayra's angled features and panther grace perfectly matched the dragon beside her. No discrepancy existed between their demeanors as they stood bathed in dawn's first rays." Eldest, 154 I don't know about you guys, but that's crystal clear to me!!! |

i dunno. she's not going to BECOME a dragon, so it's not exactly full fledged forshadowing..... hmm...... |

FINE! I'll do you one better. I'll type it out! A round hill rose before him. On it's crest - like two ancient statues - stood Saphira and Arya. They faced east, where a molten glow crept over the sky and burnished the prairie amber. As tge clear light struck the two figures, Eragon was reminded of how Saphira had watched the sunrise from his beadpost only a few hours after she hatched. She was like a hawk or falcon with her hard, sparkling eyes under their bony ridges, the fierce arch of her neck, and the lean strength etched into every line of her body. She was like a huntress, and endowed with all the savage beauty that the term implied. Arya's angled features and panther grace perfectly matched the dragon beside her. No discrepancy existed between their demeanors as they stood bathed in dawn's first rays. A tingle of awe and joy shuddered along Eragon's spine. This was where he belonged, as a Rider. Of all the things in Alagaesia, he had been lucky enough to be joined with this. The wonder of it brought tears to his eyes and a smile of wild exaultation that dispeled all his doubts and fears in a surge of pure emotion. |

You are not reading between the lines IMNC. If you would just stop and think, if you would just open your mind to what other people are trying to say, then maybe, just maybe you'd be less confrontational and argumentative AND this issue is getting old. "Ayra's angled features and panther grace perfectly matched the dragon beside her. No discrepancy existed between their demeanors as they stood bathed in dawn's first rays." Eldest, 154 What I saw in this excerpt is the fact that CP is forshadowing how fit Ayra is to be a Dragon Rider, NOT that she will become one. That deduction is proper for a 6 yrs old not a 15 yrs old. Now do please indicate where did I even suggest she was to become a dragon??? |

lol, I know, and your didnt. I agree, she is fit to be a dragon rider but may not become one due to teh circumstances (the entire plot line!) if it was when the riders were in power she might be one |

the thing is, the second most likely candidate is sadly Roran, so then it would all be male humans. that is the most unbalenced system I can imagine. If Arya is the next rider, then you would have balence between genders and the races, at least for the side of good. |

I would be very, VERY disappointed if Roran would be the next Rider. Ayra hasd earned that priviledge. I do not however, dismiss the possibilty of Roran becoming one!  |

Somehow I do not think it would be a wise move for CP to introduce such an important character in the last book! But's that's me, I may be wrong!! |
