The other list that I linked to is obviously not available, so help me out by posting here what titles/authors you consider relay killers. Also let me know what genre it should be included in.

A Relay Killer is a title that was at one point SO popular that most people already have a copy of it (or multiple!) and so most people won't choose to steal it in a swap. If you really want to use it for something, try it in a VBB, but don't be surprised if you end up having to replace it, because everyone that might want it probably already has it.

I'll compile the list here in the first thread as you post, and then link it to my site again. Thanks!

Fiction and Literature
John Grisham
Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood
The Lovely Bones

Mystery and Thriller
Cat Who ... - by Lilian Jackson Braun, all except newest
John Grisham
The DaVinci Code - Dan Brown
James Patterson - all except newest

Fantasy and Sci-Fi
Anne McCaffrey - all except newest
Hitchhiker's Guide Series - Douglas Adams
see also discussion in this thread: Fantasy and Sci-Fi, lets make a list of "killers", shall we?

Romance
Danielle Steel

Chicklit
Bridget Jones Diary
Bridget Jones Beyond the Edge of Reason

Paranormal and Horror
Anne Rice - all except newest
Stephen King - all except newest

I wasn't sure where to put it, but since it was talkin' about books, I thought book talk was a good place ta start! ;)

So we can move it wherever, if we want it!

For the paranormal swaps and relays, I'd say most of the older Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles.

And cheesy, this might be good in the relay section, but it'd also be appropriate for the swap section as well. So possibly pin it in both places?

And also VBB's and exchanges maybe?

Yeah, it's appropriate for nearly all of the games' sub-forums. So I suggest we start building it here and then decide what to do.

Too bad that we can't have the messages linked somehow though so that if we did post it as pinned in all those places, we'd just have to update it once and it'd be reflected in all places.

Can I add one? Anything by VC Andrews seem to go out the window...

Make small talk? I'd rather be reading.

Maybe we should make a note too that it's not that these books are bad (despite the name!) just that more than likely everyone who's wanted to read them already has. I know when I first started playing here I was concerned with inadvertantly offering up a "bad book"

We're going to I promise. Once we sort out how to pin it to all the places it's applicable.

Here's a link to the Top 100 Registered Books over at Bookcrossing.com:
Top Registered

That is a pretty good outline of books that are available in abundance and are not likely to be popular in swaps/relays!

Y'know, I've just discovered Anne McCaffrey and I'm trying to collect her Dragonriders of Pern series, so if anyone needs to post something from that collection I'll probably snap it up pretty quick! :D

Curious: does Phillippa Gregory's popularity brand her historical fiction books relay/swap killers, too?
