Reino Unido de Portugal, Brasil e Algarves
United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves

With the French invasion of Portugal the royal fammily moved to the colony of Brasil in 1806. Once in Brazil the then Prince Regent, Dom João, made Brazil a part of a united kingdom, no longer a colony. This made the country to prosper with direct trade with other nations, industrialization, scientific and infrastructural advances.

Although Napoleon was defeated and the Portuguese Crown sovereignity over Portugal restored the royal fammily remains in Brazil.

João VI, made king in 1816 with the death of his mother made his elder son Dom Pedro de Alcântara Prince Regent of the Kingdom of Brazil, in case he needs to go back to Portugal.
