The Sultan has heard of the events in Algeria and has decided to take action against the Dey, who has repeatedly exceeded his orders and has, through his actions brought a sense of shame upon the whole Empire. For this reason the Divan has decided to dispatch troops to Algeria to ease tensions between Britain and France in addition to restoring order and authority in the lawless province.

The Mediterranean Fleet is to transport the Detachment of the First Army to Algiers, which is currently under British rule. The British Commander in Algiers should already know of the Corps impending arrival in the city so trouble isn’t expected upon the arrival of the fleet.

Due to the issue of hunger in the city, the Imperial Treasury has also granted a sum of £10,000 in a bid to buy supplies for the inhabitants of the city. These supplies should be dispatched from throughout the Empire to Algiers in haste.

Once the Corp has successfully disembarked in the city, units should move to the Dey’s Residence and once there formally arrest the Dey for his crimes and have him dispatched back to Istanbul. The Corps, having already reached agreement with the British Government should then proceed to restore law and order in the city.

Once this objective has been completed, officials on the Sultan’s behalf should inform the Tribal leaders within Algeria that the Dey’s oppression is over and that peace and friendship has been restored between them and the Sultan. The sum of £25,000 is also to be distributed amongst the tribal leaders as a token of thanks on behalf of the Sultan for the leaders former and hopefully future loyalty.
