He was educated in Khotin, Bessarabia (Russia), under the patronage of the Russian Tsar. In 1830 he married Persida, daughter of vojvoda (chieftain) Jevrem Nenadovic. During the Hungarian revolution, the Prince Alexander, made a request to the Ottoman Government, demanding they acknowledge Serbia as Independant, and Alexander as their King. To his and most of the Serbian Peoples Amazement, the Ottomans agreed to his demands, and just a few months later Alexander was crowned King of Serbia. Alexander is the first Independant Monarch of Serbia since the late 14th Century. Crown Prince Petar Karađorđe of Serbia Petar was born in Belgrade. The date of his birth is July 11 in the Julian calendar. His father is Alexander I, King of Serbia, who has reigned as the King of Serbia since 1848. Petar is currently enrolled in the Serbian Military Academy, but upon reaching his 13th Birthday shall travel to France to attened school at a French Military Academy. |
