The newly formed British 2nd army is today in the process of departing the United Kingdom for Stockholm, Sweden. The army shall be transported from British ports, Corp by Corp, with I Corp expecting to arrive in late Spring as the first part of the army.

The British 2nd Army I Corp has arrived in Stockholm, with both the II and III Corp planned to arrive in Stockholm over the coming months, however the I Corp shall not remain in Stockholm for long, they are too be loaded onto the Home Fleet and transported across the Gulf of Bothnia as part of the prosecution of war with Russia.

The Home fleet itself shall sail for the Finnish city of Turku, where the entire fleet shall open fire upon any defences, army barracks and buildings of any military use for the best part of 2 hrs before the I Corp disembarks and attempts to take the city.

Once the city is taken, the I Corp shall attempt to set up an occupational government and await the arrival of Swedish land forces in the area before pushing onwards with the Finnish expedition.

The Home Fleet will return to Stockholm, once the troops have disembarked and taken the city and it's safely within their control, it has other missions to complete, however it shall be used again in this campaign, and shall be called back to Finnish waters should the Russian Baltic fleet leave it's port at Kronstadt (when it shall attempt to meet the Baltic fleet in battle) or British soldiers require evacuation from Finland.

(Note to moderator, this shall be co-ordinated with the Swedish assault due to be rp'ed by Jack later on today, the reason we have not posted together is that he isn't around now, and I'll be leaving soon so need to post now)

With the British army pinned down in Turku, an alternative plan has been formed, the Home Fleet is to transport the II Corp across the Gulf and attack Salo with much the same assault style as the assault on Turku, but trying to cut down on collateral damage, once the town is taken the soldiers shall remain until the Russian army gets wind of the action.

Once this has occurred, hopefully the Russian army outside Turku should about turn and march on Salo to evict the II Corp, should this happen the Division shall remain in Salo until the last minute humanly possible and then evacuate back onto the Home Fleet and out to sea, the idea of this diversionary assault is to draw the Russian army away from Turku and allow the Swedes time to join up with the I Corp and met the Russian army in a pitched battle and drive them from the field.

Should the Russians not about turn, then the Merseyside infantry division will be tasked with the mission of cutting the Russian army's supply lines back to Helsinki due to Salo's strategic location on the main road from Turku to Helsinki, thus also forcing the Russians to abandon the siege after so long and reducing morale in the need of a pitched battle to force them.

After this the Home Fleet shall sail to Stockholm, pick up the III Corp and sail to the Aaland Islands where it shall bombard the fortress of Bomarsund for as long as is possible for it to become indefensable, while trying to avoid damage to the port facilities, before dispatching the III Corp as an invasion force.

Early Spring 1854 (Once the weather is fine enough)
Seizing the iniative after the success of 1853, the British high command in Finland decided to go onto the offensive, leaving skeleton administrations in Turku and Salo and garrisons large enough to pacificy the towns, the I and II Corps would set off towards Helsinki as soon as the weather allowed it, eager to avoid the squalor the winter and their inactivity had created.

The much larger Anglo-Swedish army in Turku would pass through occupied Salo before following the main road along the coast to Helsinki, while the smaller II Corp in Salo would set off so as to be slightly ahead of them and drive slightly inland in a fake feign towards Forssa before abrupting turning left towards the north of Helsinki an attempt to circle around the rear of Helsinki and/or any armies that sally forth from the city, the army shall make as much effort as possible to disguise it's advance and make it appear that Forssa is the real target and that the Anglo-Swedish army is the only army advancing on Helsinki, regular communicates will be made between the two armies so as they can come to each others aid should one be attacked.

Once near Helsinki it is expected that the Russians will meet battle with the Anglo-Swedish army advancing straight at the city, it is then that the II Corp shall swing around and close the trap advancing into the rear of said army and hopefully contributing to it's rout and leaving the door open to Helsinki for an Anglo-Swedish occupation.

Elsewhere in the threatre the aforementioned assault on the Bomarsund fortress in the Aalands by the III Corp has been postponed to coincidence with the advance in Finland and there are rumblings of an incursion into the Baltic coastline of Russia itself by the recalled 1st Army.

(This is to be confirmed by Jack later on)

Withdrawn back to Britain with the 1st Army, with the exception of the III Corp which shall remain in the Aalands for the moment.
