Autumn 1844 Improved Relations with France In the Autumn of 1844, President Santa Anna greatly improved the nations relations with the Kingdom of France, through diplomatic and economical agreements. Among the agreements, the French agreed to send a squadren of 5 ships in return for the funds the previous President had paid, and lost, during the "Crisis of 1838" which nearly brought Mexico to war with France. Aswell starting in 1845, the French will help in modernizing the Mexican Navy, and will send a Naval Mission to the newly founded Vera Cruz Naval Academy, to train the officers of the Mexican Navy. Though some in the Senate were hesitant to deal with the French after what happend in 1838, they are more then willing to trust in the leadership of President Santa Anna, who so recently won them their war in Central America. -------- |

Summer 1847 Liberal Party Declines The past 10 years has seen the decline of the Liberal Party in Mexico. Though the failed Coup led by Vicente Guerrero did much to harm the Liberal Party's reputation, there were many more events that led to the parties current state. The corruption withen the Liberal Party was made all too obvious. On multiple occasions, it was made public that the Liberal Party was attempting to bribe vote counters in regional elections. Aswell the link between the Liberal House Leader, Benito Juárez, and Juan Álvarez, the leader of the "axaca Boys, the largest Crime Syndacite in Mexico. As of 1847, all of the most reputable members of the Liberal Party and left for the Moderate Party, and all who remained were considerd to be corrupt to at least some degree. The Summer of 1847 saw the final blow delt to the Liberal Party by the Moderate-Liberal Vice President Valentín Gómez Farías. Vice President Farías, with the help of the Sentate, introduced two anti corruption act's, one of which formed the Servicio Secreto, who's job was to protect Political Officals, aswell as seek out and purge any and all corruption withen Mexico's political System. Withen weeks of the creation of the Servicio Secreto, a number of corrupt officals, from both the Liberal and Conservative Party, were arrested. Among them was Benito Juárez, and Juan Álvarez's lieutenants the Lerdo de Tejada brothers. With the Arrest of Liberal House Leader Benito Juárez, the Liberal Party lost it's sole source of finances to the party was cut off, and three days after the arrests, the Liberal Party Members of the Senate and Congress formerlly switched to the Moderate Party, and the Liberal Party was put into the back burners of Mexican Politics. --------- |

Summer 1847 Creation of New Political Party With the Liberal Parties near disolution, many of the prominent Liberals left for the Moderate Party, but this would cause of an interesting developement withen the Moderates, as until that point the Moderato was dominated by Moderate-Conservatives, but now saw an almost equall amounts of Conservative and Liberal Leaning members. But some of the more Radical Liberals who only left the old party due to it's overt corruption, were not satisfied with the partial conservativeness of the Moderato's. And so the creation of the New Patriotic Party, a Radical Liberalist party, led by Ricardo Flores de Bolivar. --------- |

Early Spring 1848 Assassination Attempt In the early days of Februrary, Mario Aburto Martínez, a young man from Hidalgo, arrived in Mexico City. He would spend the rest of the winter season in the Casa de Café, a coffee house owned and operated by Ricardo Flores de Bolivar, leader of the New Patriotic Party. While there he became heavily influenced by Ricardo's charisma when he spoke of his version of a Mexican Utopia. Mario would join the New Patriotic Party, and comit himself whole heartedly to Ricardo's cause. Mario along with Ricardo, and three other members of the party, would spend the month of March plotting the Assassination of the man who was in their veiw the Oppressor of the Mexcian People. Vice President Farías had in their eyes furtherd the Goverments iron grip upon the people with his creaton of his Secret Police. And so in the first week of April, Mario and the three other men (not including Ricardo) would try and Kill VP Farías. The three men waited in bushes outside the gates of the Vice Presidents estate, and attempted to kill him as he exited in his Carriage. But when Mario fired his gun it exploded in his hands. The other mens guns went off correctly, all missing except one shot which hit the Vice President in the shoulder. But no sooner had the ment shot their guns, the Secret Service men rushed them and killed the three men with their sabers. Mario, who was now blind, was not killed, but arrtested and taken to an Juan de Ulúa Fortress, where he was tourtered with the goal of finding out if any more conspirators remained. Mario died without revealing Ricardo's role. --------- |

Early Spring 1848 Coup Attempt! With the failed attempt upon the Vice Presidents life, Ricardo Flores de Bolivar's friend and leader of the men sent to kill Farías was Captured. Ricardo felt sure that Mario would be forced to reveall his part in the assassination attempt, and so just days after the attempt on Farías' life, Ricardo along with 20 of his closet supporters attempted to storm the Capital Building. But this attempted was doomed from the start, as due to the attempt upon the Vice Presidents life, the Capital building was reinforced with 50 Guardsmens and Secret Servicemen. And so when Ricardo and his men attempted to storm the building, they were all slaughterd. Everysingle man from Ricardo's group was killed, with only 12 Guardsmens and Service men dead or wounded. This second attempt at a coup by a Liberal Party was veiwed by the populace aswell as the intellectual society as disgustful. The Liberal movement withen Mexico all but died out, as many Intellectuals begin to embrass Conservatism as the ideal of the Mexican People. --------- |

Late Winter 1849 Campaña Del Bandido The first days of the New Year saw the launching of a Campaign against a large group of bandidos in the state of Coahuila.
