Nicholette grinned ear to ear once the Alain guy agreed to get a drink. She wondered how many this guy could hold. He didn't look like much really. The pussy footing around he had done eariler probably didn't leave him much time to relax. Had to suck having people trying to kill you all of the time. Nicholette wouldn't know, no one even cared she existed much less found her important enough to kill. Yep, she definately needed a drink now. "All right then, Al, let's go get a stiff one," Nicholette almost chuckled when she noticed her own freudian slip. Where had she heard that term before? She couldn't remember but she knew what the saying meant and that was all that mattered. Walking with almost a skip towards the tavern, she didn't even notice if he followed. Nicholette trusted his word. Why? He just seemed like he'd stick to his word. She knew she would. The familiar sign indicating the establishment brought a smile. Business wasn't as bustling as normal, but hell it was only mid afternoon. Walking in, she took a deep breath and sighed. Approaching the bar, she sat down with an empty seat on either side. Motioning for the quite attractive lady tending the bar, she ordered to tall boys. "I've got a drinking partner this time," The lady gave her an akward look, "Yeah, that's right. Keep them coming," Nicholette smiled, took a drink and waited for Al to join her. |

"Sounds good." He followed after her, then he smiled slightly and scratched at Alia a bit "Why don't you go back and make sure Gwen and Sabre know I've gone, alright sis?" The little dragon looked slightly worried but then she licked his cheek and hopped off, gliding her way to a pole, climbing up it a bit, and gliding another few yards - only a day old, after all. He smiled as he watched her, then he looked back to Nicholette and pulled his coat around his front a bit, so it covered the pistol at his hip - most of the people in the city so far didnt know what it was, but a good percentage of those that did... well like most people with a certain amount o intelligence, they were made uncomfortable by an object that could shoot a little metal thing at hundreds of meters per second... though his pistol actually broke the thousand mark. Twice. Wonders of modern killing technology he supposed... something that could blow a hole in a person big enough to put your hand through, and it was small enough that he could lift it without a problem - hell, with the recoil compensator they put on it, a child could shoot the damn thing. Something Alain really wished he had never had to hold... and here there was a group of people, people who had destroyed their own planet with considerably older but more powerful weapons technology, and they were after the tech he had. Not to heal, and Alain could have done a lot for healing, with his nanomachines, hell the generator in his medpack back in his suit could advance their medical tech by almost five hundred years... but that wasn't what they wanted. No. They wanted antimatter. Particle weaponry. Armor plating that could stop a tank shell. Death. Alain grit his teeth slightly just thinking about it, but then he shook his head and forced himself to relax as he walked in and sat down by Nicholette. He couldn't explain why it bothered him so... was it because they were exactly like his people had been, three centuries ago? Was it just that you always hated most in others traits you hated in yourself? Maybe. Hell, probably. He just knew that these people had gone through what his people had - worse, hell, they never recovered after all - and they had learned nothing. He hadnt read as much as he had wanted on the history... he just half wished they'd never made it to this world. Maybe if they had actually been forced to confront their sins... Alain looked back to Nicholette as she ordered, then he picked the glass up and smiled a bit "Your favorite?" |

Nicholette smiled as he sat beside her. She'd see just how tough this little man was. Well, she just liked how little man sounded in her head. His suggestion of ale being her favorite, she laughed a little. "Of course, it's the cheapest and it does the job. I'm nice, but not THAT nice," Chuckling to herself, she took another drink, wiped her mouth and set it back on the bar, "Now if you're all money bags, I'm sure there's something you'll enjoy more. Cause as far as I can tell, you wouldn't be able to handle much more than a couple of these." Glancing over at him, she smirked. Perhaps it was just an idle jab but she was hoping he'd take the challenge. It had been a long time since anyone could keep up with her drinking. Sure he could fight, but could he drink? And fight? Nicholette at least had that one. She could watch her back sober or totally wasted. Then again, one had to adapt when living her life style. Drinking with the men kept her alive as much as it slowly killed her. Injesting the last of her mug, she pushed it towards the other side of the bar in front of her, signaling for it's retrieval. Nicholette waited for Al. Either he'd be up for a game or pussy out. Either way, she was getting what she wanted. A few drinks. |

"I've got no problem whatsoever with it being cheap and doing the job." He took a long pull, then looked at the liquid suspiciously for a moment. "Huh... guess a lot changes in a few milennia... good shit..." He went back to drinking for a moment, draining the last of the glass before he set it down and shook his head "No such luck, lady, I'm not a cheap date. On my world anyway... wonder what proof this is. Hm." He eyed the glass again, then he waited for another and went about slamming that down as well - something told him he'd find out in a while, anyways, but there were always catalyst nanos, and he needed a drink... pretty badly. Which was unlike him really, but... well he wasnt feeling much like himself at the moment... nothing seemed like it was him... |

"That's what I like to hear, Al," Nicholette grinned as he drank. His remark about things changing in millenia just rolled off her back. People said all kinds of wierd shit around here she noticed. Hell, half of the monsters she'd seen in Ombra Di Notta alone was enough for the rest of her life. No matter how long that should prove to be. The returning of a mug filled took her attention from him. Blowing off a bit of foam at the top, she drank again. The movement of Alain's head caught her gaze again and she raised a brow, curious as to what he was thinking to cause such a reaction. Either way, her interest in such died as soon as she noticed he had emptied the glass. Grinning, she slapped the bar joyfully after his words. "Great! Let's see how many I can drink you under the table. I am betting on five as of right now," She smiled and took another drink. His inquiry finally reaching her aknowledged thought. "Proof? What is that? Proof that I'm more man than you, that's about it," Nicholette smirked and wagged her brows. Leaning in, she stopped short of his ear. "I'm a let you in on a little secret," She paused melodramatically, "I've got a bigger cock than you." |

"Go right on betting, I'll happily take your money." He waited on a refill before taking the glass up again, wondering how many exactly he had already drank more than she had. He was a LOT taller than her, after all, and heavier to boot, which gave him the advantage there, but then again if she was, as she seemed to profess, a professional drinker, there was always that. He had never quite reached what they called "Specialist" status down at the bar on Avalon, but going through Basic with Ebanez... he'd come pretty damn close. Not only did she force you to drink, her behavior made it almost necessary. How many times he had gone just to take the edge off THAT one... "Proof is a measure of how much alchohol there is in a drink" He looked at her a moment, lifting a brow. He'd thought at least THAT would be known, even here... at the next part he just shook his head and looked away, taking another drink "This goes on far enough I hope I dont have to drop my pants and prove you wrong. I have asignificant other now, you know, she might take exception." |

"You and I both," Sabre said from across the bar. A small smirk found its way to her lips as she moved across the room towards the pair. It had been easy enough to track them down thanks to Norban's excellent nose. Being in the slightly caring mood she was in, she'd left the over-sized dog outside, but it wasn't necessarily because she wanted to be nice... it was more of her not wanting to deal with the drama that the wolf and Nicholette created. "She might... but then she might not." Sabre shrugged as she reached the two at the bar, the smirk still playing on her lips. Eying both of them, she couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Dear goddess... How do you two expect to train while you're drunk off of your asses? Perhaps I should have expressed the importance of the two of you being well-trained." Really she only needed Alain well-trained, as Nicholette was a complete stranger. But for some reason, she'd decided that keeping the odd girl close was better than keeping her further away. "Come on. Let's go. We've got a lot to do and not much time to do it. I hope you brought Suchara, Alain." |

"OH!" Nicholette understood what the word proof meant to him, "Well, where I'm from, it just goes by how hard it kicks your ass. There's no need to measure because most is home made. I bet there's a still or something under this tavern even." Nicholette shrugged. That's the way it was in marstop at least. Then again, she never lived or traveled to the classiest parts of the world. However, she most likely visited the places with the most intoxicants consumed. She stuck to the drink. All the other crap everyone else put up their nose or into their arms were their perogatives. Nicholette knew better than to become a slave to an addiction. Besides, it just wasted money. At least the drink was cheap and so were the herbs. Nicholette laughed heartily at his statement of transferring leaves. "Where'd you get the idea the stakes involved any currency?" She grinned and winked, "I don't know about you," Nicholette paused probably a little longer than she should have, "But I've got...let's say goods, much better than leaves." Fininshing the pint, she pushed it forward for another. Just getting a refilled glass, she smiled and drank as she spoke of pulling down his pants and then a girlfriend. Nicholette didn't care about some girl. They were simply obsticles. Kind of like testicles. You just had to know how to squeeze. Besides, what room did Nicholette have for a man in her life? None. She just liked to play. Opening her mouth to reply, she heard Lady Sabre's voice and sighed. Play time was over. Looking over at the source of the sound, Lady Sabe was smiling and Nicholette did the same. The suggestion that his girl might not mind him exposing himself amused Nicholette in a strange way. Perhaps his girl was just playing with him as Nicholette had all the others. Any other day Nicholette would have found that acceptable, however to Alain it seemed as though he wasn't playing with her. Now that's something Nicholette wouldn't tolerate in her own life, but it wasn't her life and he could go on and get duped all he wanted as far as Nicholette was concerned. Still, it was pretty low. At least Nicholette and her men knew it was physical. Lady Sabre's observation of their intoxication brought forth another smile. Nicholette could still walk, she thought, so she'd be fine. In fact, Nicholette was a little disappointed they didn't have enough time to finish their drinking contest. She sure as hell had a ways to go. Alain didn't look to bad himself either. He had a few more pints in him for sure. With a light sigh, Nicholette chugged the last of her ale and hopped from the stool. For a moment she giggled at the word that meant poop. What a crazy world. Turning to Alain, she waited for his lead. |

"We often do that as well, but I was asking out of curiosity. It's in my nature. Good thing I'm not a cat. And you know, I'm sure you do, sure you do indeed. I just thought you might be trying to recoup your losses for buying the booze, actually. He felt Sabre coming a little ways before she came through the door, and he spoke as she commented on the scene. "You know, you have a point there..." He looked over to Sabre thoughtfully, then he finished off the pint he had and pushed himself up. "Ah, whatever, though. Besides, I just got a buzz with that last one. Would take a lot more for me to actually worry about it..." He pushed the pint away then, and stood up, dusting himself off a little bit - it wasn't as though the place was particularly dirty or anything like that, but his clothes were sort of bunched from sitting there, and it was hard for him to feel that through the jumpsuit so he thought he had best be sure about it. Before he could say anything to answer Sabre's last question, though, Suchara spoke up herself, mentally to both of the girls. Of course I'm here, as though I would let him leave me behind. Alain sighed slightly. "Wasn't for lack of trying." HEY! |

Violet eyes took in the scene at the bar, examining each of the two carefully before nodding her head to the bar tender. "Put it on my tab, Burt," she said to the aging man before returning her attention to her two students. Students... Ah, but it had been awhile since she'd trained anyone. She had no doubt she could continue to do so, of course, though she feared what with the current crisis she might be a bit hard on them. She would have to focus on keeping calm and keeping them at a steady work pace in case any emergencies should pop up. "Just a buzz could be the difference between life and death. A true warrior knows better than to drink before a battle." She let her words hang there, knowing that Alain and possibly Nicholette would both pick up on the truth behind her words, but that none of the other patrons would be able to read between the lines. "Ah, she speaks... Well, I'm glad to hear that you're both getting along," Sabre smirked. Her eyes wandered down to Alain's hip, where she could see the pommel of Suchara. She grinned and shook her head. Why the sword was letting others into the mental conversation was beyond her... but perhaps there was a meaning to the madness. Sabre was to be teaching Nicholette all about magic, why not start with that could attack not her body, but her mind. "You hear her, do you not, Nicholette?" Sabre sent to the woman as she spun, motioning for the others to follow her. "Suchara is a powerful relic - one like so many that could be used against you... I hope that ale hasn't dulled your mind, for that is precisely where I intend to start your training." "And you, Alain... I think we'll start you off with the basics - how to hold a sword, for example." She snickered quietly, Althea and Virote echoing her teasing laughter in their singsong mental way as she led the pair from the tavern. They'd be going back to the castle, where there were plenty of training rooms where Gwen would be able to find them with ease - not that she need look, of course. |
