Galena's eyes shone as she saw what lay inside the crate. Statues... GOLDEN statues! Icy blue orbs watched as he unearthed the treasures from each crate. Obediently, she worked each one open with her dagger, which, after the second crate, she didn't even bother resheathing. "The gods have blessed us..." she murmured, finally tearing her eyes away from the crates and what lay inside them. Looking outside the tent, she silently motioned for Lydia to come over. With one last sweep of the area, she obeyed her younger sister and trotted over. The apple she'd been munching on dropped to the ground as Galena opened yet another crate. She whistled, a long, high-pitched noise. "Damn," she breathed, shaking her head. Her eyes wandered over to the last crate finally and she moved to the side instinctively, letting Raiden rush past. She swore as she realized what she'd just done and before taking a look at why he was running, turned and chased him out. Thankfully, he stopped, looking as if he might vomit. What had been in that crate? she wondered, peering back towards the tent a bit. Inside the tent, Galena's eyes stuck on the crate... no... the coffin! Her body froze, stiff as a wodden plank... much like the ones lining the bottom of the coffin. A small whimper escaped her soft lips, but she quickly sucked in a deep breath and crawled forward, sifting through the cloth to try and get a peek at the face of the corpse who's stench she could smell from halfway across the tent. |

Wash: I think they really captured his essence. Kaylee: He looks kinda mean. Wash: That's sorta what I meant. Simon: This must be what going mad feels like. Kaylee: Everywhere I go, his eyes keep followin' me... | |

At the sounds of an obviously upset stomach, Lydia's head whipped back to the winged man. "Whoa there..." she murmured stepping forward to pat his shoulder comfortingly. 'What was in there?' she wondered to herself. He seemed to regain his composure soon enough, so she let him wander back into the tent. Following suit, it wasn't long before Lydia noticed her sister digging through the crate - no, coffin! "Galena!" she cried out, the urge to hurl creeping up her own throat. "Get away from that, Galena!" Rushing over, she swatted her sister's hand away from the box, but the damage was done. Having pulled back the shroud covering the dead body, Galena couldn't help but gawk at what rest there. No longer did the body have flesh or organs. It was merely a skeleton now... a clean one, too, as if someone had either cleaned it, or licked it clean. Galena assured herself it was the former. At the sound of her sister's cry, she looked up in time to have her hand swatted away. Backing off, Galena turned away from the skeleton, only slightly disgusted. Looking to Raiden, she smiled some and made her way over to him. "Are you all right?" she asked quietly, eying the bag he'd strapped to himself. "What is that?" Back over at the coffin, Lydia stared at the skeleton as if hypnotized. Something shiny caught her eye, however, and she moved her hand down to grasp the necklace beside the skeleton's head. She smiled some as she admired the workmanship and the way the ruby had been cut perfectly to attract any and all light so that it shone brightly. With a small shrug, she pulled the item over her neck, smiling at how it rested just below her neck nicely. Turning, she spotted her sister trying to console and question the winged man. Good. Galena had always been better with new people than she had. Perhaps she could get more out of him. While she waited for the pair, she gathered up a few items that she thought looked extra expensive, then as a second thought, grabbed a few more before putting the lids back on the boxes and stuffing them under a nearby blanket. |
