Something silver glinted in the moonlight. Blood flew through the air, splattering those around it. It was a three on one fight now, although there had been three others to begin with. One woman stood briefly, her sword drenched in blood now. Her eyes scanned the three men before her, two bearing short swords and one with a hunting dagger. A single bead of sweat rolled down the girl's temple as she pivoted on her right foot, sending herself into a 360 degrees spin. Her broadsword lashed out towards the nearest man halfway through the turn, slamming into and through his shoulder. She heard the satisfying crunch of his collarbone shattering and grinned as her sword found its way into the neck of another man at the end of the spin. The last man, his pants visibly wet in the groin area, turned promptly, heading off through the woods as quick as his stubby legs would take him. In two swift strides, the girl had reached him, one hand reaching out and gripping the back of the man's collar. He jerked to a stop, the strength of her hold causing him to fall on his backside. A feral grin on her face, Lydia couldn't help herself. Instead of a man on the ground before her, it was merely a blob of red in the shape of what could have easily have been mistaken to be a human. Her sword thrust down into the area just north of the v-shaped space between what she guessed were the man's legs. She heard herself laugh, a throaty, wild sound. Above that, was the sound of the man's cries as he groped his groin, sobbing about damaged parts. He didn't have much longer to live... Back on the road, Lydia was finally calm once again. Hadwyn hummed happily back in his sheath after cleaning himself with a slight shudder. The blood had warmed him, and now he was content... at least for awhile. Lydia, too, was content. |

A few days later... A couple dozen people stood before a raised wooden dias. Most wore armor of some sort. All carried weapons - their type varying from swords, to knives, to bows, to cudgels. A few had spears and staves, but their numbers were much fewer compared to the others. Atop the dias, two men stood, their faces full of pride, on either side of a tall, young girl. The man on the girl's left had tears in his eyes that threatened to fall. As the other man, robed in a mundane brown clergy's outfit, rose his hands, draping a simple necklace about the girl's neck, the tears dropped, creating tiny smudge lines down the man's dirty face. "Welcome your newest comrade, Enforcers!" the robed man cried out, facing the soldiers. As one, the group yelled out, raising their right fists in the air. "Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!" The sound resonated throughout the town square, down streets and into homes, and throughout the crowds of townfolk gathered to watch the induction ceremony. As the last echoes faded away, the robed man kissed the girl on the cheek and sent her down the stairs, into the waiting arms of a skantily armored girl with a grin on her porcelain face. "Congrats, Mouse!" Lydia said, releasing her younger sister from the bear hug and slapping her on her shoulder playfully. "It's about time you put those sword skills to good use! I've already spoken with the Council and they agreed to let you travel with me on my next patrol to get the hang of things. It'll be great!" "Yeah," Galena said, smiling. "Galena!" Her head turned, icy blue eyes finding the form of their father. He wiped the tears from his face with one hand, smudging it further. In his other, he gripped a long, thin spear. Tossing it down to his youngest daughter, he quickly followed it down to the girls, a broad smile on his face beneath the bushy moustache and beard. "Ye might be needin' this, dear," he grinned as Galena inspected the shaft and blade with silent awe. "What is that, pop?" Lydia asked, laughing. "Surely you don't expect her to go on patrol with that stick!" Gripping her stomach, Lydia couldn't bring herself to stop laughing, causing a sharp pain to form and the loss of breath. Beside her, her father and sister waited and watched, patient grins on their faces. "It's a spear, you dolt!" Galena snickered. "You've been away for most of the past few years, if ye didn't remember, Lydia. Yer sister's quite good with a spear... and if ye don't believe me, why don't ye let her prove it!" Lydia stopped laughing quite so much, dimming her glee down to a quiet chuckle. "Alright, alright... Bring it with you tomorrow. Please tell me you're bringing a backup weapon, though," she smirked. Galena shoved her sister's shoulder playfully, before another voice took her attention across the clearing. Lydia followed her gaze and grinned cheesily. "Enough talk!" she announced, pointing to the soldier beckoning them. "We'll see you later, pop. It's time for the real Enforcer initiation! If anyone calls for us, we'll be at the pub!" And with that, Lydia grabbed her sister's arm and began to drag her through the mess of mainly civilians now, towards the pub where loud laughter could already be heard. |

Lydia stood atop a small hill, letting the cool breeze blow through her long brown locks. Her right hand was wrapped around a thin, but sturdy branch, allowing her to hang slightly, making it seem as if the breeze were blowing her entire body, not just her hair. Up in the higher branches of the tree, Lydia's partner and sister, Galena, crouched on a branch, her sharp eyes scanning the valley below. From the ground, Lydia could see the smoke signaling a small encampment... Higher up, Galena would be able to guess at just how large of a camp it was. A light thud told Lydia that her sister had returned to the ground with her. Flashing a grin, Lydia tossed her sister's spear to her. "The verdict?" "Maybe a dozen. Nothing we can't handle," her sister responded, catching the spear with ease and grinning. Jerking her head to the left, she motioned for them to head to the horses. Both girls moved over to the creatures and simultaneously eased themselves up and into the saddles. With short, sharp yells, the sisters urged their horses forwards, down the hill and towards the encampment. Shados stood a short distance away from the rest of the camp. His lips were curled up in a malicious grin. Turning away from the rest of the men, he moved closer to the treeline. Had any of the other men been watching, they'd have stopped him or suggested that one of them travel with him just in case... that the isle wasn't safe. Shados knew it wasn't safe. Why did they think they'd traveled all this way? To tame it! Or at least to gather information about it. Gather its creatures, its plants, its knowledge... A yell from the camp caught his attention. Twisting his head, he was just in time to see the point of a spear protrude from one of his soldier's midsections. His eyes wide, he watched as a second Isle warrior's broadsword sliced through the neck of another of his soldiers. A bell sounded from near the campfire, and in seconds, the other 8 soldiers in his traveling party had created a half circle around the two Isle girls. Lydia grinned ferally as her sword found its way towards a man's neck... and quickly found its way back out again. Beside her, she heard Galena's grunt of pleasure as her spear pierced the torso of her victim. Moving forward, the girls soon found themselves up against a wave of lightly armored men brandishing short swords. "Left!" Lydia cried out, cutting in front of her sister, and charging that side of the group. Galena's spear flew forward, the tip finding the throat of the man in front of her not half a second after Lydia was out of the way. Yanking the shaft back, with the same hand she wielded the weapon, she surged forward, spinning as she did. The sword attached to her left arm slammed into the forehead of one man. As she completed the spin, her spear pierced his chest. Hadwyn hummed happily as he searched out the lifeforce of his next victim. It was near three feet away and closing. Lydia lifted her arms, opening her chest to any who dared attack her. Two swords shot out, but Hadwyn shoved them away before they could even get close. Hadwyn arced around, from left to right and down some... He entered one man's shoulder and slithered himself all the way through... on into the next man's hip... and out of him, too. Two birds with one swing. Shados watched as the two girls waded through his men like they were nothing. Hadn't he been given ten of the best warriors his lord could spare? Realization struck home. The best warriors his lord could spare... A feeling of dread sank into him, dulling his senses. He snapped back to reality, took one last look at the massacre, and took off into the woods. The final four soldiers stood their ground, although Lydia could see wet spots on a few pairs of breeches. This only spurred her on further. The forms slowly lost their different colors, all of them turning into red blurs. Like a bull, Lydia snorted, her lips curling up into a snarl. Kill the red! With a loud battlecry, she leapt forward towards the two red blurs in front of her. Like a pair of saplings, they fell, their trunks sliced at the middle. To her sister's right, Galena finished off her last two opponents with another spin. Her shield knocked one man's head back hard enough to break his neck as her spear honed in on the juglar of the last man. With a sickening squish, it broke the flesh and cut a hole in the man's neck. As she yanked the spear back, blood spurted forth. She brought her shield up, protecting her body from the sudden spray, and turned in time to see Lydia's sword slice through her last pair of victims. "Ly!" Galena cried out, using a quickname for her sister. Galena was the mousy, quiet sister. Lydia was the lion. With no more red blobs to kill in front of her, Lydia turned. There was another form before her, but it wasn't quite red... more of a blue, mixed with red... almost purple... It barked at her. One syllable. Ly. Lion... Lydia! Grinning, Lydia stuffed Hadwyn pointfirst into the soil and examined her sister's body. Not a scratch on her. Now she was motioning for Lydia to follow. With a nod, she pulled Hadwyn back, letting him clean himself before she put him back in his sheath. He'd be back in her hands again if the need arose. The girls moved through the camp quickly and efficiently. They pillaged any provisions and documents from the smaller tents before finally entering a larger tent off to the side of the encampment. What they saw there caused Galena to let out a small yelp. Chained up in one corner was a man with wings. He seemed unconscious. Without another moment's notice, Galena rushed forward to check on the man. Lydia moved through the tent slower, feeling the heat inside slowly rising as she realized what these men had been after. "Damn, Mouse!" she exclaimed, fingering the soft petals of one of the isle's wildflowers. "They were trying to bring the isle to their own damned lands! Thieves! Bastards, all of them!" |

Sabre = Purple Gwen = Blue Galena approached the winged man slowly, carefully. As she reached him, her fingers found the chains binding him to a metal post in the floor, and she quickly broke it with her dagger. He looked so sad... so broken... so lost. Her heart went out to him and she held her hand down. "My name is Galena... We're here to help you... Are you okay?" As the chains came away from him, his body slouched a bit. His eye's never left her's though. For a long moment, he peered at her. For most it would hae seemed odd, perhaps awkward. But Raiden was different. He nodded his was alright after a moment, and moved with a slight stiffness, past Galena. His wings twisted closer to his body. It was a tough fit, with a wing span such as he had, but he kept them so close to his body, that one wouldn't have imagined he could fly with them. He hadn't flown with them in a great time though, and would need some practice before they could carry him as well as they should have. Long legs carried him across to a small box at the back of the tent. It sat atop a pile, and was somewhat inconspicuous. But Raiden had watched intelligently. Opening it, he extracted a few items, which he tucked into his clothes. It took him only a few minutes to prepare the things. By the time he had finished, Raiden stood noticably straighter. His frame was tall, lanky. His hair tousled about his face, making him appear brooding. Which he really was. Strange eyes shifted back to Galena when he finished. This time, the man approached her. "Thank you..." The first words he spoke since he could remember... Icy blue eyes widened as the winged man stood and brushed past Galena with a stiff swiftness she would not have expected from him. Her eyebrows knotted atop her forehead in concern and she was tempted to rush to his aide, but one look from her sister told her otherwise. He could make it. If he couldn't, though, Galena was there. And so was Lydia for that matter. Both girls watched the winged man, curiosity burning deep within them. A small snicker escaped Lydia's lips as he made his way to a box, out of which he produced a few items neither girl could see properly. They were probably his belongings anyways, so what did the girls care? As the man moved back to Galena, Lydia's body tensed. He may have been a prisoner, but she didn't trust him. Galena, on the other hand, smiled, her face brightening instantly at the fact that he remembered her. Her heart fluttered at his voice, and she felt a tear threatening to creep up to her eyelid. Forcing it back down, she bowed her head politely, a bright pink hue finding its way to her cheeks. "You are most welcome," she said quietly, raising her blue orbs back to look upon the winged man's face. The corners of his lips rose the slightest bit and for a moment, Raiden could have been smiling. But it was gone as quickly as it came. Bowing his head to her a little, he stepped past her, and then Lydia, to the doorway of the tent. Not that he could remember, had Raiden ever seen carnage, so as he opened the flap, the sight beyond caught him off guard and he stumbled back, bumping into a table and knocking glas of some sort over. It shattered noisily on the 'floor' on the other side. Fear whipped through Rai, catching his breath in his throat. His heartbeat had quickened, and rattled his thin chest. One thing obvious thing about Rai was that he was far too thin. Twisting around to the women, Wide eyes took them in better. The smell of blood was now noticible, as were the weapons they carried. He had been blinded by the excitement of being saved! Backing toward the opening of the tent, he meant to run... Galena's bright expression darkened the moment the winged man moved past her. A small pout formed on her lips, her eyes visibly saddened by his rejection of sorts. Across the tent, Lydia's head tilted to one side and her eyes narrowed thoughtfully as she watched him. She couldn't help but grin as she watched his reaction to what lay outside the tent. Galena, on the other hand, felt ashamed. Moving forward, she stopped a few feet away from the winged man, unsure of whether he would react violently or not. If he did, she didn't want to be the one to fight him. She was afraid she might break him in half, he was so frail. "Please..." she whispered, holding her hand out to him. The hand that held her spear opened, and the weapon fell to the ground with a soft clatter and thud. "We mean you no harm... Don't be afraid... Come here... We need to get you some food. You look as if you haven't eaten in weeks!" As Galena spoke, Lydia slowly inched her way towards the front of the tent, attempting to block his exit. If he did in fact get away, she didn't doubt her ability to chase him down easily. He was too frail and weak to outrun her for long. She was a running machine! Unless he took flight... Then she'd be screwed. Words that should have comforted him, did nothing but make him pull away faster. Backing through the tent flap, Long legs carried him past it's length with ease, and a suprising ammount of speed. He knew he wouldn't be fast enough though. outside of the tent, grasslands stretched to the rocky egdes of the cliffs that boarded the beaches here. Through these, Raiden headed. Keeping a little distance between himself and them, Raiden finally got the idea they didn't want him to. As he ran, he spread out his wings, the muscles spasming painfully at the resistance and use. His chest heaved as he ran full tilt through the grasses. Flapping them once, he felt his gravity lessen some. FLapping twice, his feet lifted off the ground, but his returned to running for a moment longer gaining as much speed as he could and looking back just one last time... and When he finally felt confident, he stretched his wings and brought himself up into the air. The air brushed the sweat from his body, chilled his skin. The grass and women got smaller a little at a time and he lifted into the hazy blue sky. But the flight that should have carried him away, soon turned tragic as a pain shot through his shoulders, the muscles overused and not ready to fly on. Spiraling quickly, he tried to catch himself, only managing to crash a distance into the field, Unconcious and unhurt. |

Tears welled up in Galena's eyes as the winged man's fear did nothing but heighten at her words. Did he not understand her? Had she not tried to be as compassionate as possible? Damn her and her violent ways! Lydia, on the other hand, spilled no tears. She was hard as a rock when it came to anyone who was not a blood relative to her... or who wasn't Reilly. Ah, but she loved her Ry... Of course, he didn't know this. Lydia had never been good with men. Her attention returned to this man, however, as he fell back and out of the tent, spinning into a run as he did so. She sent a quick glance to her younger sister, wondering if the girl would head after him. Judging by the look of utter shock on her face, she guessed that Galena would chase him... but not for quite a few seconds. With a small snarl, Lydia turned and headed out the tent, in hot pursuit of the winged man. "Oy! Stop!" she called out, the muscles in her legs pumping and warming up quickly. It felt good to run again. She'd not done so in quite some time due to having a horse on which to ride. This small detail didn't change the fact that she was in tip top physical condition, and easily kept up with the winged man. Galena snapped back to reality as her sister's voice rang out just past the folds of the tent. Snatching up her spear, she darted forward, chasing after her sister and the winged man. Lydia growled as she watched the wings on the back of the man begin to open and twitch. Oh no he didn't! Not when she was still quite a ways back. "Wait!" she called up to him, but he didn't seem to want to hear any of it. She put on a burst of speed, but it was to no avail. The winged man flapped his wings once, twice, and after a short sprint, took off into the air. Slowing to a stop, Lydia swore loudly, squatting and putting her hands on the insides of her thighs. She'd been so close, too! Looking back up to the sky, she was just in time to see a dark blur. Instead of soaring higher and higher, it was plummeting to the ground. Lydia swore again and rose to attempt to catch the falling man. Just as she got back to her feet, Galena passed her, the younger girl's long legs carrying her swiftly on her way. Galena's eyes remained glued to the sky as she hurried to where she guessed the winged man would land... or rather, crash. Her arms out in front of her and her eyes away from the ground, she didn't see the rock sticking out of the ground and she felt herself flying through the air as the winged man neared the ground. She crashed to the earth at the same time as he, her fingers just inches from where he fell. "Damn," Galena cursed, crawling forward and up to her knees. She cradled the winged man's head in her lap, shaking her head and brushing the dark locks from his face. "Now why'd you go and do something like that, you dolt?" she whispered, shaking her head. "I told you we were here to help you." |

Galena watched the winged man intently. A few paces away, Lydia turned her head, examining their surroundings every now and again. Her sister, the compassionate soul she was, would not pay any attention to her surroundings - she was sure of that. Deep in the woods, just to the south of the girls, Shados stopped running. No one was following him, thank the gods. His chest heaving with each forced breath, Shados couldn't help but double over, gagging quietly. He wasn't incredibly old, but his stamina could have been better. Most of his exercise came in short spasms. He was a duelist, and a damn good one at that, so nearly all of his matches took no more than three minutes. He'd been running for nearly ten. As he finally finished catching his breath, realization struck home and he groaned, leaning back against a nearby tree. The creature! In his fear, he'd forgotten the creature! Damn those vile island girls! Turning his eyes back the way he came, Shados took a deep breath and started back at a quick jog. Screw running this time. Galena sat for some minutes, staring down at the winged man the whole time. She whispered to him during those minutes, salty tears dripping down her face. Curse her and her violent ways!, she thought to herself over and over. Had she and Lydia not slain all those men for him to find, he wouldn't have run and therefore, wouldn't have tried - and failed - to fly. When at last he groaned and opened his eyes, Galena's face brightened. "You're alive!" she hissed gently, allowing him to struggle to sit by himself. When he stood, Galena moved swiftly to her own two feet and tried to help him, but he managed all right, even if it did seem to cause him immense pain. Perhaps it was better that way, however. While it would pain him physically, it would not harm his pride or manhood so much, especially after such an incident. Galena dropped into a curtsy as she'd been taught as the winged man bowed. She then held out her hand to him, a hopeful smile on her lips. "My name's Galena..." she said quietly. "And that's Lydia." She jerked her head in the direction of her sister, who waved a hand idly. "You should come with us. We'll take you back to our home and get those wounds fixed up... For now, you should let me tend to them while you eat. Please." Dropping her spear, she burrowed into the small pouch at her hip, producing a few thin strips of dried meat. "Here," she said, offering it out to him as well. "We've got water, too." |

Galena smiled faintly. He spoke! He actually spoke! And what a beautiful voice it was. Galena's heart fluttered, and she felt a blush creep onto her cheeks. His voice was somehow familiar, soothing, and her muscles relaxed as if she were standing and talking with an old friend. When Raiden took the meat she offered, she watched him stuff it in his mouth hungrily. Just as she'd suspected. Nearly starved to death... Poor thing. "Ah, ah, ah..." she cooed, moving her hands forward to stop him from eating so fast. "You'll get cramps. Slowly now..." Turning her head, she beckoned to Lydia, who in turn, beckoned to the horses. They approached obediently, stopping when they reached the eldest sister. Neither cared for the large black things protruding from Raiden's back, so kept their distance. Pulling Galena's waterskin from her horse's saddle, she tossed it to her sister, smiling satisfactorily when she caught it with ease. She always did have good reflexes, Lydia thought to herself, pulling herself up into the saddle. "Here. Take a quick break from that. And only take a few small sips at a time. Make sure to breathe, too... You're very malnourished..." Deep lines of concern were littered across her forehead and her brows remained knotted together. "Do you need to sit down?" |

Galena's hands reached out every now and again as she tried over and over to get him to slow down his eating. She blushed as she looked up at his face, only to find a grin plastered to it. What was so funny? she thought to herself, Is it me? Do I have something on my face? Her hands flew up to her face in an instant and she began to scrub it with her palms. Behind her, she heard Lydia snicker. "Try as you might, you ain't gonna get that ugly thing off of there, Mouse," she said, outright laughing at her own words. Galena's blush deepened, but she cracked a grin herself. That grin disappeared as Raiden's eyes locked onto hers. They were so deep and she found that she couldn't look away from them. What was he? And why did she feel as if she knew him from somewhere? Only when he looked away did she finally avert her eyes. The meat she'd given Raiden was gone quickly, so she produced another strip. This time, she ripped it in half, handing him a smaller portion of meat, so that he couldn't wolf a large piece down in such a small amount of time. "Ly..." Galena called, looking over to her sister. "Spiff it up a bit? We'll be there in a few." She smiled, walking slowly beside Raiden in case he should falter. Atop her horse, Lydia nodded her head knowingly and, spurring the beast, took off across the field in the direction of the encampment. Galena's horse, not wanting to be left out in the open, moved towards its owner, keeping the girl between him and Raiden. Galena giggled quietly. Raiden seemed so intrigued by the horse, and yet, it was skiddish of him. No worries. She'd get the mongrel to let Raiden pet him if he wished. But later. Now she focused on getting him back to the encampment. Shados stopped jogging finally. He'd reached the camp again, only to find it completely deserted. He wasn't about to just step into it, though, so he waited a few moments and listened. It wasn't long before he heard thunderous hoofbeats quickly approaching. A malicious grin found its way onto his face and he stepped from the safety of the trees. One of the island girls was approaching. Pulling a dagger from its sheath, he brought his hand back, flicked his wrist and let it fly. Its aim was true, but the girl had seen him. She swayed on her horse and knocked the blade aside with the reflexes of a cat. Shados' jaw dropped. Removing his rapier from its sheath, he ducked behind a tree so that the girl couldn't charge him from her horse. Lydia saw the man step from the woods. Judging by the laceration of a grin on his face, he wasn't friendly. She swayed away from the aerial attack, knocking the knife away harmlessly. As he ducked behind a tree, she put on a grin of her own and, pulling her sword from the sheath at her back, leapt from her horse's saddle. She landed with a light thud a few paces from the tree and charged in. Shados saw the woman charge and his eyes widened. Instinctively he took a few steps back, realizing a little too late that that's what she'd intended for him to do. What a tool! he thought to himself as he brought his rapier up to block the blow from the woman. His sword vibrated from the force of the blow, numbing his arms, all the way up to his shoulders. Staggering back, it was all he could do to bring his sword up again to defend himself. As the third strike came in, he ducked to the side to avoid the pain blocking it caused him. He felt a burning sensation in his right ear as he moved away. The sword had sliced off the lower portion of it. Screaming in agony, he gripped the bloody stub. The island girl was swinging again, but Shados used his dueliest reflexes to duck behind a tree to defend himself. As her sword bit deep into the bark, Shados took this as an opportunity and quickly scampered off into the woods in search of a hiding place. He was trained to duel, not to battle, and he was patient... when he wanted to be. Lydia snarled as Hadwyn pulled himself out of the tree. The vile creature had gotten away. She needed to ignore him for now, though. Galena and Raiden would be here soon and she needed to clean up the mess they'd made. Enlisting the aide of her horse, she managed to drag the last corpse clear of the campsite mere seconds before she spotted the pair enter. |

Galena's mind wandered as she and Raiden strolled across the field in the direction of the encampment. It was never far off from the man walking beside her, however. She pondered over his past... where he had come from, why he'd been captive, how long he'd been there. She also wondered silently about his future. Would he go with them back to town? She hoped he would. He spoke up beside her, his gentle voice breaking the peaceful silence. She smiled. The island always made her happy. Everything about it caused her to smile, from the bugs in the earth, the birds in the air, and the plants and creatures in the forest. "Jade Isle," she murmured, a brighter smile filling her lips. The name fit so well. Even in the colder months, the weather was considered pretty warm and the island was vibrant and green as ever. "So, where are you from?" she asked as they reached the encampment. A weight was lifted from her chest when he didn't stop at the edge of the camp. Her eyes swept around, finally stopping at her sister and a grateful look came into them. She'd gotten all of the bodies out of the camp. Damn, but she was good. Galena chuckled quietly, following Raiden to the large tent in which they'd found him. Lydia stood, resting one arm on the spit over a smoldering firepit. In her free hand, was an apple which she was currently munching on. She raised her hand to the pair as they entered the tent. She would stay outside, just in case that dark man decided to try his luck at her again. She doubted he would, but the look on his face had said otherwise. There was something here that he wanted and she'd be damned if he'd get it. That was a lot of crap to haul back to town. Perhaps if they took everything but the tents and camping gear. Yes... That should work. |

Wash: I think they really captured his essence. Kaylee: He looks kinda mean. Wash: That's sorta what I meant. Simon: This must be what going mad feels like. Kaylee: Everywhere I go, his eyes keep followin' me... | |

Galena stopped just inside the tent, allowing her blue eyes adjust to the gloom. Gods, but the hide of this tent was thick! It was nearly dusk, but still, more light should have been shining through. Why keep everything so dark? Her eyes wandered to Raiden and the answer was clear as day. Her brows furrowed then. Didn't know where he was from? Didn't know anything? But he remembered his name. She smiled some. Well, at least that was a start. Perhaps they'd be able to somehow coax it out of him over time. For now, however, she averted her attention to his actions. What was he doing? And what were those? Quickly tying the other tent flap up, she moved and organized the rugs a bit. At the sound of him calling her name, she nearly jumped out of her skin. Turning, she couldn't help but laugh at the look of anxious joy on his face. She nodded and scurried over, hoisting the crate from the top of the pile, onto the ground. From there, she knelt on one knee and pulled the dagger from her hip. Stabbing it into the crease between the lid and the side of the crate, she worked it open, coughing as a burst of dust flew into her face. "Ack!" she laughed, stepping back to let him search for whatever treasure inside he was seeking. She wiped her face with the back of her hand and replaced the dagger, dropping down to her butt and peering over the edge. "Well? Is it in here?" She didn't know what it was, of course, but she was curious as a cat! |
