Forgotten: No one can escape. A great flash emerged above all of Aronia leaving each with short term memory loss. Years lost to the fog of amnesia. Can no one recall? That appears to be the case. Whom or what is responsible? Panic has stricken the globe. Will civilization collapse? What will emerge from the reset? Only time will tell. To each citizen of Aronia from the Global Gazette, we wish all luck.
Welcome to Aronia. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Small fingers wiggled in anticipation. The play was nearly finished. Only the last scene remained. No matter how incredible of acting talent the men and women on stage had, there was no way to make this play anything better than boring.

Tei let out a large yawn, uncaring of what those around her thought. She grinned, her slightly pointed canines gleaming in the dim theater light. Time for her to get to work.

Her elbow connected with the ribs of the man just to the left of her and she leaned in. "So, he's in love with her, but she's in love with him, except he's just gone and screwed her best friend and they're having a baby together... Is that right?" she asked, her fingers working all the while she whispered and pointed.

The man huffed at her quietly, a very disapproving look soiled onto his face. Tei sneered and turned to the man on her right. She got the same reaction.

"Touchy..." she murmured, grinning to herself as she moved back to the center of her chair. She was short and small, and her feet dangled at least two inches above the theatre floor. To most eyes, she appeared as a child, but if one were to look closely, they'd see the well-defined hips of a young woman, and the chest to match. No one ever really looked closely, though.

At last, the play ended and Tei hopped from her seat. She waited politely for those around her to move out of the aisle so that she could get out to the lobby and "mingle". Sure, she'd do a bit of small talk with some of the theatre-goers, but her fingers would be doing most of the work while she occupied their attention.

Letting out another large yawn, she stretched, her body framed in the doorway. Behind her, she heard a decidely masculine huff. She moved her neck from side to side, listening to the resounding pop, and sighed appreciatively. The man behind her cleared his throat and Tei turned, a mock look of surprise on her ugly face.

"Oh, I'm sorry sir!" she exclaimed, trying one of her winning smiles. The man scowled as she moved aside and began whispering to the woman at his arm. Tei grinned at his back. What a fool... What a fool.

"Isn't it past your bedtime little girl?"

Tei turned towards the familiar voice and grinned. "I never took you to be the theatre type. They don't serve alcohol, after all." The young man behind her smirked and moved forward, his hand reaching down to ruffle Tei's short hair. Tei continued to grin, and the pair walked from the theatre, down towards the ritzy tavern that was sure to have all sorts of rich folk mingling tonight.

"So, what'd you think of the play?" Tei's older brother asked.

"Same thing I thought about it the last two times I snuck in - it's boring."

"Boring? Did you miss the part where the plot was all sorts of twisted and it was hard, even for me, to figure out just who was up to what?"

"Yeah, I must've..." Tei chuckled. "Wasn't it obvious, though? All you had to do was watch their body language. It spoke volumes. If I were deaf, I could have told you every word that came out of each actor's mouth."

"That's because you can read lips."

"That's beside the point. Here, take this money and go buy tickets for tomorrow night's showing," she said, dropping a few leaves into her brother's hand. "Then do as I said and focus on their movements. You'll know exactly who's been up to what... Perhaps then you can take that other leaf there, and buy a ticket to the fencing competition in three days. I'm sure there'll be plenty of action there for you to feast your eyes on."

"Brat," Tei's brother chuckled, ruffling her hair again, but stuffing the leaves in his pocket nonetheless. Tei grinned.

"Always and forever."

"Well, I need to get going. I told the horde I'd be home before midnight and it's nearly a quarter til, judging by the moon."

"Alrighty. See ya in awhile. Oh, and tell Janie that I'll be home before it's time for her story." With a nod and a grin, Tei's brother turned and headed back down the street toward the Midnight district, where their four bedroom house resided. Tei watched him go for a few moments before turning and stepping into the tavern. Now the real fun began.

Humming a light tune, Tei weaved her way through the hordes of folk at the tavern. It wasn't really a tavern, though, she thought to herself. Too clean.

Tei climbed up into an empty barstool and spun it around to face the counter. Oh yes, that's right. Spun. Tei laughed quietly, smiling brightly at the bartender as their eyes met. She saw the man shiver, but paid no mind.

"Can I get a nice mug of ale?" she asked, her voice just as chipper as her face.

The bartender furrowed his brows at the small... thing. "Ale?" he asked. "No... ma'am..." He seemed unsure as to her gender, but she watched his eyes move down to her chest and then back up. "We don't serve that here. Try any of the taverns in town."

"This isn't a tavern?" she asked, a practiced look of confusion spilling across her face. "Huh... Well, you could have fooled me. Hey! Whaddya know? You did fool me," she laughed, looking to the man to her left with a smile and a shrug. "Well, get me what he's having then!" she said, clapping the man on the shoulder.

He wasn't expecting this, and his reaction showed it. Choking on the sip he'd just taken, the upper class man scowled down at Tei. If he'd been anything more than a human, she guessed his eyes would have been glowing with rage. Of course, if he'd been anything more than a human, she might have actually been afraid of the murderous look he was casting her.

"Hey now," she said, patting the man's leg. "No harm, no foul, right?" Flashing one of her winning smiles, she watched as the man rolled his eyes with disgust and moved away.

The bartender returned a few moments later, carrying a very fancy drink. "That'll be six leaves," he said, a haughty look on his face. "Sure you've got the money for it? I'd hate to have to watch security kick you out for not paying for your drinks."

Pulling the man's coin purse from under her cloak, she pulled out seven leaves and grinned. "Didn't your mother teach you not to judge a book by its cover?" she asked, taking her drink and hopping from the stool. Stuffing the coin purse into her satchel so that she only had one purse on her hip, she began to wander around the bar, looking for other highly intoxicated individuals who seemed to be screaming at her to take their money. Her lips wrapped around the small straw that had been placed in the drink and she sucked up a few sips.

"Mmm. Fruity."

Tei's drink was much lower now than when she'd started sipping it. Her wealth was going in quite the opposite direction, as were her spirits. A light blush crept onto her cheeks as she swiveled past a young man. She nearly spilled her drink as she dodged the large man, but managed to right it in the nick of time.

He cast her a wicked glare, to which she grinned cheesily. The pink on the man's cheeks slowly rose to a slightly darker hue and before she knew what was going on, Tei had been lifted a few feet in the air by the collar of her shirt!

"Don't give me that look, you son of a bitch!"

"Daughter," Tei giggled.

"What?"

The cheery look on Tei's face disappeared, and she was back to being sober in an instant . "I am a woman, thank you very much!" Throwing the rest of her drink in the man's face, she leaned her head down some and bit his hand. With a yell, he dropped her to the floor. As soon as she was down, she tackled the man at the knees, sending his drunken ass down to the floor as well.

All around her, she heard the quiet chatter of the upperclassmen rise to a slightly louder level. The noise rose again when everyone saw the pair of security guards. Tei grinned at them and fastened her satchel to her leg with a buckle she'd stitched on herself. Now the bag was securely resting on her shoulder, as well as buckled to her leg so that it didn't fly around and throw her off balance.

As the two men - easily five times Tei's own size - approached, Tei noticed that they didn't even bother with the short swords at their hips. They completely underestimated her, and that would be their downfall. The first one got within pouncing range. Tei leapt forward, grabbing his leg and twirling herself around it. She headbutted him right in the back of the knee, causing him to kneel in front of her.

Yes! Kneel! That's right! You may be bigger, but I'm smarter! she thought to herself, grinning the whole time. One small fist flew forward, punching the man in the back of the head just before she hopped back and out of the way of the boot that was flying towards her. It grazed the first security guard's head, and Tei couldn't help but laugh at the expression on the kicker's face. Aghast... Shocked... Pissed.

A small giggle escaped Tei's lips as she sprang out towards the kicker's leg, attempting to bring him down the same way the first one had been. This man seemed a bit smarter, and he bent his leg at the knee so that she couldn't twirl herself around him. A malicious grin on his face, he thundered his fist down towards the... thing at his feet, only to find her on his left side now instead of his right.

His fist connected with the wooden floor, sending up a spray of splinters. Tei winced. That had to hurt. But she didn't stop moving. Her speed and agility was what was going to bring her out on top tonight. Moving to a crouching position, Tei hopped up some, grabbing the man's belt and letting herself fall back down.

More worried now about being indecent, the guard grappled for a hold on his quickly falling breeches. Tei let go of the belt, swinging herself around to the man's back and punching him in the back of the kneecap. She laughed heartily and shoved the confused man face first into the ground with a force much stronger than would be expected for her size.

With both security guards on the ground and the entirety of the tavern in awe, Tei scurried out of the building, tipping an invisible hat to the patrons. She giggled quietly as she disappeared down the street, turning down the second alley she reached. She could hear people spilling out of the building now in pursuit of her, but she was down in the sewers before any of them even reached the alley.
