Arucalin listened to Aithne gravely, then watched her run out. The demon didnt seem to like hearing Poe cry out as she did. How odd... He made sure Poe was comfortable, then sat in a chair beside her bed and watched over her for a long while. Eventually, he fell alseep in the chair and Poe woke while he snoozed. She sat up and looked around slowly. She seemed to have gotten ahold of herself, but was still a little jumpy. She watched her father sleep and she could help but smile at him. When she gave the room another look, she noticed that Aithne wasent there. An image of the archdemon flashed in her mind, but she forced it out of her mind. Poe moved out of bed and stood, only to discover that her muscles ached. She made her way to her door and peered out of it. "Aithne? Where did you go...." Deadra |

Aithne had spent most of her time just sort of stalking the house, looking for any sign of anything else that might be there. She felt things everywhere now, things she knew from her life before, and she did not like them one bit... finally though she found herself wandering back to the door of the room where Poe was asleep, and putting her back to the wall, sliding to a sitting position, her tail wrapping arounf her a little bit. She hated this... she'd had so many allies before but she was only using them. She'd had lovers but noone she'd loved. That was how demons lived. But.... she had grown tired of it all. Through some fluke, maybe having been hit on the head, or hit with one to many vials of holy water by idiot priests, or... SOMETHING... Aithne cared. It may have only been about one person, just a need to have one friend, even though she had nly intended it to be for a short time. So why was she broken up about this? She knew what it was like to have a friend now, couldn't she be happy? Why did she want so badly to keep this weak little human...? She should have seen her as insignificant but she couldnt help seeing her as anything but. Maybe it was a curse after all - she couldn't stop caring even after this... When Poe poked her head out into the dark hallway, Aithne looked up at her. She looked strange in the dark, her eyes had no whites, but instead they had a gold color that glowed faintly against her crimson pupils, the few runes on her body glowed as if they were seared in hot iron constantly, giving off a faint light that was just enough to outline her in the darkness. "I'm here, Pow-Pew... I left because I was scaring you... didn't want to scare you..." her glowing eyes turned away, and she pulled her knees up closer, looking like she wanted to just disappear. |

Poe looked over to Aithne and her face paled slightly, but she swallowed the lump in her throat. "Yes...well...I didnt exactly see YOU. There is something wrong with me. Things in my mind. I feel like I am going insane with all the things flashing through my mind." Poe sat down next to Aithne, her own eyes swimming with emotion. She was silent for a long time, then her head hit Aithne's shoulder. "Im scared.... I did something very wrong. I messed up big time." She closed her eyes just for a moment, but opened them again. Everytime she closed her eyes, she saw the face of the archdemon. "People are going to die...because of me." She finally said, bowing her head. "Because I am such a screw up. I just wanted to make a body for you. A beautiful one that you wouldnt have to share with another conciousness." Deadra |

"It's just the demon trying to terrify you, he projected that through the portal into your mind so you wouldnt be able to do anything to close it... it's a good thing it closed on its own..." She looked back to the girl as she sat down next to her, then she looked down as well, and wrapped her arms around Poe, closing her eyes and keeping her close against her heated form. "It's not your fault, Pow-Pew... you were what...?" She blinked a few times, startled, and then something happened that never had before - she cried. A single red gold tear dropped to the ground - it sizzled on the carpet a little, like liquid fire, but it was still a tear. She hugged Poe tighter, the didnt cry any more tears but she was nearly sobbing. "Noone's ever tried to do anything that nice for me before, not ever... I don't care if it went wrong, that means so much to me... sweetie even if I have to share this body, coming here and meeting you is the best thing that's ever happened to me... I'm so sorry it's brought this down on you... but I'll protect you, I swear that I will... no archdemon is ever going to lay a hand on you..." |

Poe was started at her embrace at first, but was glad for it at that moment. Aithne was a demon, and if anyone could protect her then Aithne could. "Thank you." Poe whispered, "But I still cant help but be scared. Already I have the blood of innocent people on my hands...." That thought alone was enough to break Poe apart. She didnt want to be repsosible for any death! Poe cried softly then, trying to deal with her new troubles. "I have to stop those demons that I let loose." Poe finally said. "I have to clean up my mess. If I do that...then maybe I can live with myself." She stood then and headed back down to her lab. She took out every book the had on demons and portals. She had no way of knowing if any of the information was true or accurate. She then closed her books after a few minutes. Aithne was a demon right? Why should she guess on stuff in books that was only thoery when she had the real thing at her disposal. She was sure if she asked for Aithne's help that she would tell her what she needed to know. Poe looked over at the two double doors that lead down deeper into the basement. She stood and quickly closed the door and sealed them with a large bar, as if that would keep any demon in that might slip through out of a rogue portal. She headed around the room then and began to pack things into a bag. Anything that even remotely looked deadly or useful was packed away. However, when she finished, the bag was a too large and heavy to lift. "Hmm. Perhaps I need to pack light." She mumbled, staring at her impossibly large back. "How did I even get so much stuff INTO that thing?" Deadra |

"Don't be scared, my sweet... I'll be here to protect you from them. I won't let anything happen to my friend..." She smiled softly to her, and kissed her cheek. When she got more upset, though, Aithne nodded a little and stood along with her. "Well then I will help you. And perhaps... we can find something to allow you to help yourself." Aithne had left that part of her energy inside Poe for a reason - first to keep her safer, and second to make sure she couldn't be possesed by another demon besides herself, just in case. But perhaps they could bring that energy out along with Poe's own... it would certainly make her more able to fight than she was now, and Aithne could worry less about it. The next morning when Poe was done packing, Aithne came down with a plate of food for her, which she set down and smiled a little. "Breakfast first. I have been discovering these human bodies need to eat or they become weak. And.... we should split that up and share the weight, hm?" |

Poe looked at the food, then smacked her head, "I forgot to pack food! Ah! I cant carrying anything else!" Poe shoved and egg in her mouth and began to try and purge things from her bag. Finally, she got her packing down to a managable size and sighed. She then turned to Aithne, "Well, Thats everything but food. I dont really know what to bring on a demon hunt...." She finished her breakfast, and just sat there. "How am I going to stop this? I know I have to but how? Just kill the demons that I find? It wont do me any good to do it that way because the porals keep popping up. At least that is what I saw in my mind." She turned to Aithne then, "This will be my first time leaving home like this, but I know I cant find an answer here. The books I have only tell me so much. Papa isnt going to be happy, but this is something I have to do." She stood then and grabbed her back and headed up. "Will you gather the food we will need while I talk to Papa?" Poe moved off and then entered her fathers office. She had a very long discussion with him and in the end Poe told him she was leaving whether he liked it or not. He gave her a lot of money and then Poe met up with Aithne and stepped outside. "Well...I guess I am ready." She looked at Aithne and smiled, "I am very glad I dont have to do this alone. Maybe it was fate that I accidently summond you." She adjusted her bag and moved on, "Well! Lets be o-WAH!" Poe missed a step and ended up falling all the way down. She lay on the ground, bewildered. "Ow. I didnt know leaving home would hurt so much." Deadra |

Aithne took some of the things Poe took out of her bag and put it in hers, keeping a close eye on the other girl for a while. She was really starting to get worried about her only friend... "Well we're going to be in a city the whole time I dont think we'll need a whole lot of food, I mean... well I'll put some in my pack anyways. I can carry quite a bit, though you know we might look a little conspicuous, two pretty ladies walking around carrying all this junk..." She got some dried fruit and meat and such and put it in bags before tossing it in her pack, then she sat on the table and waited for Poe to talk to her father for a time. Then, whan they were about to leave and Poe spoke to her again, she looked a little teary eyed as the other girl fell down the stairs. "oh!" She rushed to the bottom and helped her up, dusting her off a little before she gave her a big hug. "You don't have to do anything alone... and I dont know about Fate but I'm glad it happened..." |

Poe dusted herself off a little as well and smiled, "Good. I dont really like being alone." She paused looking out into the city, "There is a possibility that these wierd flash portals can appear outside the city too." Poe linked arms with Aithne then and headed off. She began to ask random people about strange attacks. She only recieved a few wierd looks at first, then she began to get a few leads. As the sun set Poe met her first opponent in a dark alley way. "Ew...its ugly." Poe said to herself digging in her pack quickly. "How come its not pretty like you?" Poe whipped out a cross and stood like a hero holding it out, "AHA! EAT THIS DEMON!" She paused then when nothing happened, "Hmm, maybe thats vampires..." She tossed it over her shoulder and dug through her bag a little more. She pulled out a few viles and blinked, "How did these get in here? These are just hair removal potions...." She thought for a moment, not paying attention that the demon was advancing. She stood then, with the viles between her fingers, "No matter. I am sure it will explode anyway! AAHAHAHAH!" Poe tossed a vile at the demon and it merely shattered on him and the liquid oozed down it. If it had any hair on that area, it would be gone in a flash. "Well, what do you know. That actually worked like it was supposed to." She watched it loom over her and she grinned sheepishly, "Ah, the hair wasent a good look for you anyway...." Deadra |

"Well that's good because I'm just going to make sure you never are." Aithne giggled softly, and walked after her, nodding a little. "Once they start opening they open all over huh...?" She walked around, getting answers out of people here and there when they didn't feel like talking, but when they got to that first monster, she blushed at Poe's comment. "Aw, thanks... and most of them are pretty ugly. I'm just a different kind of demon than they are." She didn't say anything about what kind she was... when the vials failed to work, though, she put her bag down, and just as the demon leapt for Poe, she jumped forward and slammed her fist through the thing. It screamed, and she hissed at it viciously as it caught on fire and then seemed to be just sucked into her. She took a deep breath, and stumbled just slightly, then she turned around, looking more cheerful, and smiled. "There's one down. Why is it your things never explode when they're suposed to but they do all the time when they're not...?" She picked her bag up again, and kissed the girl's cheek. "Next time just try... being a ninja." |
