Forgotten: No one can escape. A great flash emerged above all of Aronia leaving each with short term memory loss. Years lost to the fog of amnesia. Can no one recall? That appears to be the case. Whom or what is responsible? Panic has stricken the globe. Will civilization collapse? What will emerge from the reset? Only time will tell. To each citizen of Aronia from the Global Gazette, we wish all luck.
Welcome to Aronia. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Misery could hear something, something beating against her hear. A voice was connected to it somehow and it was saying her name. Slowly, she realised it was a beating heart and it sounded worried.

Misery opened her eyes, a little dazed, then her eyes rested on Asher. She gave a happy smile then, "I saw him. He was so very happy I was going to be born. I was happy too and his smile made me warm inside."

She glanced around her then, "Is the scan over already?" Misery asked softly. "I dont remember it even starting."

Misery gave a sigh then, "Your warm...." Her head still pounded, so she didnt feel like moving around too much. The pounding was subsiding a little, which she was thankful for. "How did the scan go?"

He let out a sigh of relief when she opened her eyes, and he smiled softly, brushing her hair out of her eyes.

"Welcome back. You had me worried..."

After what she said, though, he smiled brighter.

"Then you're starting to remember... that's great, Misery! And the scan went fine, was finished before you fell"

What she said next, though, he couldn't say anything to. He just blushed, and hugged her a little closer, closing his eyes. It was a few moments befor ehe was able to say anything again.

"Ah... went fine, as far as I can tell... haven't looked at any of the results yet. But then it seemed to be alright when I checked the readings. "

Misery lay there for a moment, then moved away and stood slowly. "Well, lets have a look at them then, shall we? I am still curious as to whether I have a flesh brain, or a mechanical circuit board or something."

Misery put a hand on her face then, "I think I know how you feel when you are over loaded with your visions. I have such a headache right now. Even the light hurts my eyes...." She then looked up with a smile, "Sorry, I didnt mean to complain. Lets see those results."

She looked over and checked on her birds, but so far they had not made very much progress. She hoped they would, and knew some of them would repair themselves but the two she had worked on didnt look so well.

He let her get up, then he stood himself, his foot having fallen asleep a little, and he laughed.

"I know you don't have a circuit board, so don't worry about that. And you have a headache?"

He looked a little surprised at that, she couldnt really have any of the things that normally caused humans to have headaches, but...

"Probably just the stress, I suppose if your brain is similar enough to a human brain, you'd suffer from heaches like that too. It's mostly just an imagined pain anyways, and I know you have an imagination."

He laughed a bit, then he walked over to the table, tapped it, and a transparency of her appeared in the air, as well as several little icons. He reached out and touched one that said "circulatory", and suddenly her image vanished, except for thousands of blood vessels running around the shape of her body, and one massive cluster near the middle, where there was something that was unmistakably a heart. He smiled over to her.

"Well, there's a good one. I knew you had a heart."

He laughed a little at the bad joke, then he hit the "nervous" one, and up came a similar image, but all leading from her head, and a brain that at least at that resolution was impossible to tell from a similar image Asher pulled up next to it.

"Brain looks human. Few small differences in lobe sizes, but... well within standard deviation... want to see the rest?"

Misery looked at it all closely, "So this is really my insides? It does all look rather human, doesn’t it?" She gave a small laugh then, "I guess it would be silly if I had a circuit board for a brain." She touched her head again, "Imagined pain, huh? Well, I don’t like imagining pain, it hurts." She glanced at Asher, and then gave him a slight smile.

"Say....how old do you think I am?" Misery asked out of the blue. "The only slight reference I have is that picture I have with the large cake. I suppose if we knew when the picture was taken, and counted the candles I could calculate my age." She turned away from the image of her nervous system, "How old are you?"

Asher didn’t look very old. She had a feeling that even when he did get older, he would still look younger than he actually was.

"That's you on the inside. There are some slight differnces, but nothing you wouldn't have to look pretty hard to find, if you count out the fact that your muscles are silver and your blood is blue... if you rule out color, I doubt anyone who wasn't looking specifically to prove you weren't human would be able to."

He hit a few more of the slides, and all looked pretty much the same, so he saved the scan and pushed it a little closer to her so she could look.

"I suppose, but... I'm nineteen actually."

He laughed a little bit and sat on the table.

"Graduated with my four Ph.Ds three years ago from the university... you though... well honestly, Misery? I don't know how old you are, I mean... a person like you wouldn't ever die of old age, your cells don't have the same entropy ours do, so long as they're properly taken care of... I'm not sure how old that Gerald was, but he could have built you any time between a year ago and... a hundred, heck. He could have had nanomachines inside him too, and have been the oldest human ever. I guess that's my long way of saying I don't have a clue."

"Silver muscle, thats different." Misery said, looking at the scan closer. "You looked about that age. You were a very bright young man to have graduated with four PhD's at such a young age. You must be proud."

She thought for a moment, "Never die of old age.... Kind of a scary thought actually. If that is true, then it would be hard to see all my loved ones pass on and leave me behind. Its a lonely thought." She couldnt help but look at Asher and know that she would probably out live him too. She didnt want to think about that right now, so she changed the subject quickly.

"Anyway, lets see what else we can figure out, shall we?" Misery said, picking up the journal again. She sat on a stool and found her place and began reading. After awhile, she found herself reading over a bit of information three times to make sure she read it right. "If I am right and this is Geralds journal, he was over a hundred years old!" Misery exclaimed.

"A little, but it's kinda cool."

He smiled a little over to her, though his smile faded too at the thought - he had the same one she did.

"Yeah... I guess. But there's a lot of time before you have to lose anyone because of that."

He smiled over to her. He didn't plan on dying soon after all. He nodded again when she seemed to want to go back to work, so he got back into his seat and was working, comparing what was in the book to what was in the scan - together they were a lot more help at figuring out how these things worked... all the organs seemed to function pretty much the same, the kicker was that if any single organ was destroyed, the nanos would band together to perform its function until it could be repaired. Damn... if anyone ever tried, she'd be harder than hell to actually kill... and yet she looked so delicate...

"Really? Wow..."

He got up and walked over to look at what she was, then he shrugged.

"He must have had some nanomachines inside him too, I wonder if everyone did on his world... weird."

Misery nodded, "He had to have had. Either that or her found the fountain of youth...." She laughed a little at the idea and went back to reading.

She got to a part where he said he was lonely and that he had a crazy idea. This sparked her interest and she soon became engrossed in the journal and wasent paying attention to anything else. Some referenced Gerald used though, confused her. Such as the years, for example. She wondered if maybe he had a different calendar that he went by that he had made up to more accurately calculate time or something. She took note of these small confusing inferences and simply went on.

Gerald wrote that he was going to have a daughter. He didnt care what she looked like, or what her personality was like. He just wanted someone around to talk to and love. A little further on, he mention white hair and green eyes to remind him of past loved ones and mentioned a girl because they more usually more gentle.

Misery ended up reading for hours. Lunch and come and gone without her and she looked up when she realized it was dinner time. "Oh! I forgot lunch!" She exclaimed, looking at Asher. "I’m sorry. I will fix us something to eat right away, okay?" She said with a smile.

She moved over to the food they brought in and looked through it. "Well, I guess its back to your old sandwich diet for now, Asher." She said, joking with him. She brought over some break and sandwich things and made herself one, than looked to Asher. "What would you like on your sandwich? We have...turkey, ham, cheese, peanut butter, a little bit of jelly and some ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise in little packets." She said with a grin, holding up a ketchup packet in one hand, and a mayonnaise in the other.

He laughed a little bit and nodded.

"Yeah, or that one."

He went back to the analysis, so many similarities... everything seemed to work exactly the same, so far as he could tell. He was quiet for a long time, but then he looked up to her words and smiled.

"That's alright, Misery. Don't worry about it, I forgot too."

He laughed a little bit and looked back to the work for a few moments, before he looked up and cleared the holograms from the table.

"Ummm... I'm going to go with turkey and cheese, I should think. And sandwiches are fine, I'm just curious to see if you make better sandwiches than I do too."

He laughed a little at this, and got up to get them a couple of drinks, some bottled lemonade he had found, and he set them down on the table.

"Projector's waterproof, shockproof, pizzaproof... believe be I've done a lot of things to it so we can eat here too."
