Misery nodded and picked up her suitcase and took the birds. She grabbed Ashers suitcase too, leaving the kind of large box to Asher. "No, thats all. I am ready. Maybe we can come back when things die down...." She somehow doubted that though. After all, she probably would be living with him for very long, who knew. Still if there was anyway she could, she wouldnt mind it so much. He was a nice guy. "Well, lets go then." She turned towards the door and waited for Asher to open it bacause her hands were full. She looked back at the house and sighed. She was just getting warmed up to it too. For some reason, it was a very homey comfortable place. She was going to miss it. Deadra |

"I think that would be fine. In fact I'd like it if you'd stay... for now though, I think we're safest if we don't stay anywhere too long." He nodded a little bit to her then, and opened the door before taking up his share of the stuff, and following her out the door. When they got to the car, he popped the trunk and piled the thigns in, though he kept the box with the birds in it in the back seat. After that he waited for her, closed the trunk, and got in. "Back on the road then..." He smiled, started the car, and drove off. It took them about five minutes to get to the rundown looking building where he did his private work, and he took out some of the stuff, as well as the box with the birds. "Don't need to bring it all, we'll only be here a night." He smiled to her, and slipped his card behind the innocuous sign, opening the hidden door. "It's a bit more discreet... oh, and as for the car." He had parked it in a tiny room on the side of the building. Suddenly, the floor started to drop, and a new - identical - floor replaced it. "Neat huh?" He grinned, and let her through first before he came in and sealed the lab back up. Most of the things in here were covered up, but benerath them was probably the highest tech lab in the city, or the planet for that matter. He started pulling the covers off one bench, then he put the birds up on it, before he took a few bottles of a silve mixture and poured them into a shallow basin. "Metallic hydrides in an aqueous mixture, plus some assorted protiens... I did a few tests to see what is in the nanomachines you have, so if they can heal themselves still, this should be everything they need... of course, I'll need your help." He smiled a little sheepishly to her, and started gently transferring the broken bodies into the mixture. Should help, anyways... |

Misery wasent very impressed by the building, but looks can be deceiving. She was visibly shocked when the car disappeared beneath the floor. She entered the building and looked around. "Wow....there are so many things in here." Asher uncovered some stuff and began to set things up for the birds. She looked at them closely and was glad to see that a few were beginning to repair. Some, though, didnt look like that had made any progress at all. She took the worst one out and took the bottle of liquid she salvaged from the ground and studied the birds damage closely. She didnt say a word to Asher, but began working on her own. All she needed to do was kick start its repairs. She looked at the blood and swirled it around a little and shook her head. She wasent sure if it would work. She worked on it for about half an hour using her own hands, then blood she salvaged, and her own blood. Soon it actually looked like a bird again. She took out another one and replaced the other in the solution. These two were the only ones that were reduced to a pile of rubble and the rest where barely being held together, but the other bird had worked on them already. Finally, she placed that one into the liquid too and watched them for about five minutes. "They should be okay now. I hope this formula you thought of will help them. They were so badly damaged." She then leaned against the working bench and sighed. "What now? Do we sit around and wait all day and leave in the morning?" Deadra |

"yeah, I've spent years working on this place... better than the labs at work, actually." He laughed a little bit, and watched her working on the birds... he couldn't do much else, nanotech was outside his ability to repair... While she worked, he walked over to the equipment, and started turning a few things on, computers and the like... More than that, he needed to feel like he was doing something... After a while, her still over there literally putting her blood into helping those little things, he had the books out and was working at the big table in the middle, which glowed dimly at the center. After a moment he hit a button, and several displays appeared in the air above the table, showing all sorts of data he'd collected the night before. While he could he needed to analyze as much of it as possible... he pulled the pad out, and plugged it in, then he took out the second book and started reading again. Finally when she was done, he looked up and smiled a little. "I suppose... if there's anything you want to have a look at, go ahead, or I actually have a decent collection of fiction books over there" He indicated a shelf full of various old books - Lord of the Rings, old classics, most of them from the 20th century. "Any other suggestions, though?" |

Misery walked over to Asher, "I like reading, but I think I will help you." She began to go over his data and also read of of Geralds books. Misery read incredibly fast and her mind began to try and piece together all the information. She slowly began to realize the differences in her bird and the bird Gerald had created. She picked up a book then that didnt have a title or author and opened it. The first page was blank, so she turned the page and discovered that it was written out by hand. As she began to read, she discovered it was Geralds journal. As she read she founf that he was speaking of his designs for herself and how his was making progress and discovering knew things. She felt as though she understood them, but in her current loss of memories she couldnt actually understand. "A perfect blend...." She finally said, staring up at the cieling. "I guess." She had only gotten past a few pages though as she was starting to get a head ache. She didnt remember getting a headache before either. She then blinked, "Hey...do you think I have an actual brain and organs, or do you think they are like my wings?" Deadra |

"Alright, well I have all the books, just let me know if anything comes up. You can just write on the table with one of those pens, the computer will store all your notes and the like." He smiled over to her, gratefully, then he looked back to what he was working on, and spent some time scribbling on the surface of the table, the pen left faintly glowing blue words in its wake that vanished after a few moments, and appeared, neatly typed, on a screen floating before him. If he drew anything - which he did often, charts and mathematical calculations, that sort of thing - it appeared to the side of the words. When she asked about organs and everything, though, he looked up for a moment. "Hm... I don't really know actually. I imagine though, if the nanomachines are following basic human DNA... hang on a sec, I have a scanner, I just have to calibrate it to ignore the extra metallic elements in your cells." Looking curious, he got back up and walked over to the wall, where he started typing on a keypad there. "Hm... damn thing..." |

Misery looked down at the table and tested it by quickly writing her name. She looked up to see her name typed and smiled. "Cool." She looked at Asher, "A scanner? Alright." She said, watching him. As he tried to calibrate the scanner, Misery began to play around by drawing different things on the table. She drew out her birds, then some of the toys she had created in the past, then doodles out something she really didnt notice she drew out. She looked over at Asher again and walked over, looking behind his shoulder. "Are you having trouble?" On the screen, Misery's schematic drawings appeared and some of her other doodles too such as a stick figure of her and Asher, a scribbled out drawing of an 'ugly man names Lahziel' (which is what she wrote but ot with a little arrow pointing to him), and a few other things. Misery smiled then, "Is it ready? Lets take a look at my innards!" Deadra |

"Yeah, sorry, I think the thing lost power at some point and I had to reprogram half the sensors... okay just come and stand over - woah" His eyes widened a little bit, and he walked over to look closer at some of the drawings she had made. Most of them were just funny, but then there was the other ones... "These are really detailed... better than the ones in the book, even..." He put his finger to one, and moved it so he could see it better. It looked like a detailed drawing of a human brain, but when he looked closer, there were actually several things that were different. "I'll have to look at these more closely after... this is your brain?" He looked back over to her and smiled. Somehow he got the impression she wasn't sure what she herself had drawn... he made sure to save the images - even her doodles - then he motioned for her to stand by the wall over near where he had been. "Just stand here and wait a moment, alright?" When she did, glass panes rose up, separating her from the rest of the room, and he put his hand on the glass, smiling reassuringly. "Don't worry, thats just to keep interference out. Let me know when you're ready. You know where you learned those schematics?" |

Misery looked at the drawings she had done, "My brain? Oh...I drew that? I didnt realize. Well, I dont know if thats my brain. It's a possibility I suppose." She walked over to where Asher indicated for her to stand and was a little worried when she was closed in. Asher reasured her though and she relaxed a little. As she stood there though, closed in. Images of her looking out from some sort of tank began to rush into her mind and she began to develope a severe headache. Soon, she wasent even able to see what was before her, but only those images as though she ws really there, in the past, and in that reality. She reached up at touched the glass of the tank and in returned she actually reached up to touch the glass that now surrounded her for the scan. She could see someone standing there outside. He was looking at her and smiling joyfully. He seemed old, and hand a cane to help him walk. His smile warmed her heart and she smiled at him in return. This seemed to make him even more happy and he stepped closer to her. He spoke then, but his voice was muffled and she couldnt make it out. She felt sleepy though and couldnt keep her eyes open any longer and soon Misery's vision went black as the memory faded. Misery's eye began to close inside the scanner and she slowly fell backwards and crumpled down, head throbbing. Deadra |

"Well, we'll see in a minute... now dont worry you shouldn't feel a thing." He smiled to her again, then he touched another button, and a blue glow filled the tube, swirling around her, and the holograms over the table vanished, replaced by a smaller version of her, first normal, then as though layers were being peeled away, one by one by one until finally her skeleton was left, and then nothing. Asher watched it carefully until the light turned green, then he looked back and was about to say something to her when he saw her crumple, and his face paled. "Misery!?" He hit the button again, and the glass slid back into the floor, then he ran to her, dropping to his knees and putting his arms around her, pulling her up against his chest a little. "Misery...? Hey, wake up..." His heart was pounding, if she woke she'd be able to hear it, he just held her against him, eyes glowing slightly as he watched like a hawk, waiting for hers to open. |
