Forgotten: No one can escape. A great flash emerged above all of Aronia leaving each with short term memory loss. Years lost to the fog of amnesia. Can no one recall? That appears to be the case. Whom or what is responsible? Panic has stricken the globe. Will civilization collapse? What will emerge from the reset? Only time will tell. To each citizen of Aronia from the Global Gazette, we wish all luck.
Welcome to Aronia. We hope you enjoy your visit.

As she moved towards him, there was a sudden resistance, as if a solid wall had suddenly formed itself between her and the human, but it was gone in the same instant, as was the blazing fire in his eyes. He looked down after that, but he pulled away as soon as her fingers brushed his side. She didn't need to say anything to him... the hunger was more than plain enough in his head, and in his desperation to block it out again, he had nearly shut her out physically... not a terrible idea in the current situation... he looked towards the carcass of the Rovina, and for an instant, hatred burned in his eyes again, but it was brief. He barely remembered the damn thing... no sense here... but where had it come from? Had he blacked out and missed it...? Still withdrawing, he walked for the doors, which opened as he approached, and then slammed shut. Finally outside, and shivering almost uncontrollably now that he was out of the room, he put his back to the wall and sank down, feeling reality slip from him again...

The explosion rent the air, a brilliant flash of pure white light and a sound like a hundred thunderclaps all at once later, there was little more than a crater where six drones had been pouring out of the ground. The hole was only partially covered, though, and the persistant creatured below dug back out again, and rushed for the four armored beings. Now, though, they had time to set up, and brilliant blue and orange blasts from their various weapons killed the creatures before they got close at all.

With the momentary lull, all four took the time to reload, and alain winced.

"Okay. What's the ammo situation? I'm down to two clips charged, and thats including the one I just loaded. The others still have ten minutes at least."

Carla checked quick, then shook her head.

"Better than me. This is the last clip for mine, and remember I'm firing solid-state."

"Coil's still hot, I've burnt through my backup already too, I don't know how long it will last..."

The biggest of the four, Trevor, lifted his massive weapon slightly to indicate the glaring red indicator, only slowly cooling down. They had been fighting too hard for too long - more than twenty-four hours actually... and with the exception of Arya, stims were the only thing keeping them going.

"I have enough ammunition."

She checked mentally, then looked off in the distance. Carla snorted.

"Yeah, because your recharge unit is about four times as efficient, and that new model blazer doesnt hurt matters either..."

Arya gave Carla a slightly puzzled look, which was waved off, and Alain shook his head.

"Point is we've got to find someplace where we can hole up and conserve some ammunition. About half a click at bearing 30. we can resort to close range if we have to, use your sidearms if we hit trouble - save the heavy weapons, see if we can't get a few clips charged... before the bloody deuterium runs out.."

He shouldered his rifle, drew the huge pistol at his side, and snapped the safety off before threy proceeded. Arya scouted, as usual, and especially now that she was the only one with any sizable amount of firepower that could be relied upon in a large battle. Just as they were reaching the site, though...

"Alain! Unidentified - AAAAAAAAH"

Alain whipped his head around in time to see Arya smashed in the chest with SOMETHING, and go down hard, blue blood spraying from a rent in her armor - a quirk in her design that noone had throught to rectify, the old 'blue blood' joke about nobility made the engineers that had built her laugh, so it was kept. Alain felt the blood drain from his own face, and his suit jets fired instantly, he was on the hill in moments, just in time to see another orange blast come straight for him. Instinctively, he crossed his arms in front of his face, and his mind lashed out towards the blast, wiound through his suit's amplifier, and a massive slew of blue energy enveloped the oncoming blast, obliterating it and sending itself back towards the origin. It struck true, and a massive explosion ensued, but even before it cleared, his suit as blaring warnings. Alain was stumped... all this radiation, but no decay detected...? The dust settled, though, and...

Auroth lowered his longbow, mouth agape.

"Marcyus? What the fuck?"

"Hello, Auroth... enjoying yourself...?"

"Well I WAS hunting, but if you're going to show, should I be worried...?"

Auroth's grip tightened slightly, and he kept the arrow drawn.

"Just giving you a last look, that's all..."

The man chuckled, and Auroth drew his arrow.

"Take the insanity somewhere else, will you..?"

The vision shifted again, and Alain pulled his rifle from his back, leveling it at the grinning man before him.

"Auroth... or wait, it's Alain now, isn't it...

"What...?"

"Just wanted to see what had become of you... and if you've slowed down any..."

The man strted laughing hysterically, and Alain leveled his rifle.

"Son of a bitch! Don't talk as if you know me!"

The rifle flared four times, but the shots allveered off, smashing into the ground and blasting chunks with it as the man laughed.

"Think fast, demon!"

He drew back one hand, then lashed it out, and a blast even worse than the last time flared forth. Alain dropped the rifle, put everything he had into the shield... and everything went dark...

Auroth watched the man go, and frowned. We'll meet again? What the hell was that supposed to mean...

"Hey, Auroth!"

He turned to see a child running up, and he smiled slightly.

"What is it?"

"Show us the stag again!"

"Aga... okay, okay... just someone tell the other guys, alright? I dont want to get shot at..."

Alain's eyes opened again, in he hallway, cold sweat lining his body under the thin jumpsit. He forced his hands to stop shaking as he tried to make sense of it all. Auroth... knew Marcyus... before he went bad... but he... oh gods above... that can't have been him that day... no way that man was on Terra... but how else...

ooc: Sorry for the wait, hope this was worth it.

Nicholette finished her last mug of ale and wiped the froth from her upper lip. It was just the thing to get her moving. Leaving a few leaves on the bar for the tender, she stood and stretched with a deep breath. The woman spoke of work and Nicholette was looking forward to a little extra money. Stepping outside, she sqinted and sheilded her eyes with her hand. The city seemed to be quieter during the day than at night, but not by much. That was one thing Ombra Di Notta and Marsotp had. However, this city was much more cared for and beautiful. Even the road itself which was of cobblestone. Marstop opted for dirt. Taking a vaguely familiar path, she just barely remembered her way to Sabre's store, but remembered none the less. The actual movement was a breeze and lacked a single stumble. Riding a horse would have been another matter... Standing in front of the building for a moment, she wasn't sure if the shop was open or not. Considering the time of day it should be, but this city was quite strange. Approaching, she knocked loudly a few times but not too excessively. Nicholette just wanted the woman to know she was there.

OOC: its cool, sorry it took me so long to reply. Ten days of work and a hang over sucks...

Crystal can't post this, so she emailed it to me. Technology can really be a pain in the ass...

queen_gwenefiere:
She breathed in the air of the room, tasteing it, smelling it like she
had not been able to before. She smelled the Blood of the Rovina, but
that did not last long, as it disintegrated into a mass of insects that
represented her and their kind's frailty. The Blood soared through her
veins, touching each point of her being with it's warm soothing
tendrils. It finished the bond, the change. She did not expect Alain to
push away from her so harshly, striking her oddly. This was calmness for
her, a calmness that was not easily broken. She followed him from the
room. As he had not spoken. A million questions flooded her mind, but he
looked ready to vomit, and she needed to find Sustenance for Victoria.
Turning to The Creature before she exited, she spoke.

"Lock this door until I return. I will be only moments." She smiled to
Victoria, who was obviously in desperate need, and then pulled the
door open and stepped through. It closed with a heavy slam behind her,
leaving her in the cold of the hallway. She could Smell Alain, his
fear, parts of his thoughts also came to her. One face in Particular.
She could not think for the life of her how exactly Mayce had come up,
but she stooped to Alain Regardless, and let the fit pass. This they
would discuss later, when there were not such pressing matters. By
this time, she could only imagine that Victoria was trying to get the
very last sip of blood from the chalice or she was rummaging through
the viles on the shelves, like a fein looking for a fix. It did not
take long, it seemed for Alain to pass back into reality, and she
reached out to him. He seemed confused. It was not her that felt the
gnawing hunger that had emenated through the room.

"Are you well?" She asked him with growing concern. She was crouched,
her knees together, her upper body pressed down into them, almost
cat-like. Pushing his hair back from his face with a gentle but strong
hand, she smiled a little.

"I need you to go into the yonder room with your sister. Victoria is a
threat to you right now." She held his eyes with hers. They were ever
changing now, but somehow still remained a deep sapphire blue. " But I
will return Love, In only a few moments." With that, she stood from him
stepping down the hallway toward the temple. She had something special
in mind. Her world was really hers now. She was herself, the goddess of
the vampires. a being of power and authority. But she still felt at
loss for something. It was not physical, or important, but almost
annoying in it's unimportance. She pushed the thought away though and
continued on. Making her way finally up the steps, she moved out into
the temple, and was refreshed. The very air of it made her giddy, but
she was lacking in time for such merriments. She quickened her pace
this time through the lonely castle, incraments of her journey
forgotten through her inhuman speed. Vampirism had it's definate
advantages. She had to go farther though, as the smell she was seeking
had not come into focus. It did not take long though. A few of the
castle employees had stopped to stare at the coming figure of the nude
queen. None of them were human, but it gave way to where she would find
one. They grinned sheepishly, Only making their desire more obvious.
Stepping to them, she did not notice such things, she was only on a
mission. Pulling a random name from her head, she set them on their own
mission.

"Where is Boris? The Human Serving boy?" She asked nonchelantly. It was
an odd scene. Had one come across it, they may have laughed, which
would have given means to Gwenefiere ripping out their throat. But it
would have come with such haste that they would have died with a smile
upon their faces. The Slightly Elven of the group shook his head and
spoke for the rest.

"Boris the Cleaner? He is cleaning your office right now. It was said
that with your arrival, that things needed to be set into order."
Gwenefiere nodded happily. She had chosen a good candidate. Maybe
Alain's ability was wearing on her a little. She couldn't remember at
the moment if it was just part of her, or just luck. Boris was close
by though, and she would thank him for working so hard. She would not
tell him though that beyond the double doors of the ritual chamber he
would recieve his last thanks of this existence.

"Well, Please send Boris to Meet me in the Temple. I have a few
personal tasks for him." Turning from them, she headed back to the
Temple.

Greeted by the silken covering of her robes, The onyx Golem stood at the
doorway of the temple, as she had mentaly ordered it. With a thought, She
could control each and every one of the stone and metal beings about the
castle. At will, be it her's or their's, they could come forth from their
stone places, and work. Be it important or menial tasks. She accepted the
clothing with Grace, and went to the fountain. FIlling one of the small
glasses, she drank from it greedily, taking another more, and drinking
that as well. She would save Boris for Victoria. It did not take him long
to get there either, the younge blonde worker showing his face after the
matter of a few minutes. He stopped and bowed before her when he got
within ten feet. Waiting for her to address him, he stayed in his crouched
position. She did not hesitate though, standing from the edge of the
fountain and moving him in the blink of an eye. Not so close as to be
intimidating though.

"I thank you Boris for your effort. It is appreciated. But I would like
to offer you a job even more noble than what you already do. Not many
are trusted within the chambers of royalty. Most are light fingered and
poor witted. I see that you are not, Victoria would have known." She
stopped briefly, motioning him to stand straight. With a ruffle of
shimmering blue, she headed away from him. He followed without meaning
to, but only because he felt that was what she wated him to do. He
obeyed without knowing it. Gwenefiere could smell his blood as well, and
knew that Victoria was probably clawing at the locked door of the
chamber by now. This brought a smile to her face. She almost wanted to
stay and watch as the priestess tore the creature to shreds, diminishing
his throat and upper shoulder trying to drain the last drop of blood
from him. But Her mind was on other things, and she would not take part
in the beautifuly grotesque scene that day. Turning once more to the
younge man, she smiled. The door at the top of the stairs that led down
into the heart of the temple, opened with the flick of her wrist.

"I would like to show you something, if you would just follow me." She
winked provocatively at him, and made her way down the stairs. The
Lights flickered on as she passed, so the human would not trip and
fall. They made it easily to the bottom. Taking him now by the hand,
she led him down the hallway. The younge man had begun to get queer
ideas, thinking himself the lucky young lover of the queen, but he was
desperately wrong. Alain was not where she had left him, which was
well. Stepping finally to the door, she knocked, and waited for it to
open. It did not take Long, and she stepped through finally, pulling
the man in after her and pushing him before her, inbetween her and
Victoria, almost as if brandishing her prize. The mans eyes hardened
somewhat after that into shock. He had begun to get a faint idea ofwhy
he was really here. Boris did not protest though.

"This is Boris, Victoria..." She cooed. Moving with electirc haste to
the other vampire, she smiled, and kissed the womans cheek. "Have fun."
Stepping from her, Gwenefiere moved back out the door, and closed it
behind her. Finally in the hallway, she stopped for a moment, leaning
against the door and taking a deep breath of the sweet smokey air of the
hall. The doors blocked any sound from within, but it didn't matter at
this point. Victoria would eat, and revive. Possibly sleep, which would
probably be good for her. Not much of the day ahd slipped past them, and
she counted this as Luck. There was still much to do. Recollecting
herself, She moved across the Hallway to Where she knew Alain would be.
Stepping in the Door, She closed it behind her and turned to face him.
With renewed vision and a deeper memory of what they had been. As she
had expected, Her change had not and would not change their
relationship. But then, she didn't know how he felt.

Looking away as Alain left the room, Victoria could not stand to watch the blood simply walk away. Hearing the instructions that Gwen had given the creature, she only hoped he took her advice. The shutting of the doors brought her gaze to the room again, settling on the creature. The blood she craved would not be found within it. Her physical body was in need of repair, which was where the blood came in. The symbolism of it all would strengthen the process. Besides, whatever was in the creature would not taste as well as the blood. Perhaps that was the human in Victoria. Looking to the doors, Victoria actually considered breaking through them to get to Alain. It was an easy fix really. Sure he was Auroth, but he'd gotten here this time, she was sure he would make it back again eventually. They had a long time ahead of them. On her stride to the doors, Victoria caught a glimpse of the chains that were connected to the southern pole. Regaining control, Victoria took hold of the pillar, leaning her head against the cool stone and felt for the small cubby that held a set of keys. Removing them, Victoria picked up a cuff and put it around her wrist. Locking it in place, she pulled on the chain a bit and the other cuff held fast against the loop in which the chain ran. Her sight returning to the creature, Victoria tossed the keys towards him. He had caught the book, hopefully he would again.

"You will know when it's time," Victoria managed a small smirk through the threatening frenzy. She was able to keep her arms at her sides, even though cuffed, but not much more.

The queen's return surprised her, Victoria did not expect the appearance of a human. In fact the blood of live stock was what Victoria anticipated. Granted human blood was what had once filled her own veins. Once it stood before her, all Victoria atteneded to was the steady rythm. Salivating, there was a brief moment of humanity. She should recognize the conciousness before her. Victoria should have seen it for more than what it was. Food. The queen's movements were noted mentally but her eyes dead locked on the child's chest and she remained motionless and silent. There was no question. As soon as the queen had left again, Victoria grabbed the human by the back of its head and pulled it towards her. The outbursts of surprise turining to whimpers of fear would have softened the hearts of many, but not Victoria. Drawing her cloak around the human, she knew it was cliche, but preferred the creature not see her feed. Pulling the human to the ground, his screams were soon distorted and finally muted with blood filling his throat. Drinking down the warm, metallic liquid, ecstacy flooded every limb of her body. It was almost a reward for the damage done and energy expired. Taking little time at all, or so it seemed, the human was drained of blood. Digging her free hand into the chest of the human, she split through the rib cage and pulled it open to expose the heart. Reaching in eagerly, Victoria tore it free from the arteries and veins. Looking at it for an instant, Victoria bit into the organ. It's smooth yet firm texture just as satisfying as the taste. Chewing firmly, she savored the meal. It would be a very long time before she would have to succumb to this measure. Finishing the organ, Victoria stood and kicked the body away from her. A bit of her strength had returned, but that did not stop the exhaustion. Steadying herself on the pillar, Victoria held tight. The creature would be there to free her, or so she hoped. Unable to keep concious any longer, Victoria fell asleep standing. With the lack of concentration, she no longer held to the pillar. Falling, the cuff would keep an arm suspended in the air and she would dangle from it. Atleast the pain would not be felt once her shoulder was ripped out of its socket.

The creature watched, with more curiosity than anything. Obviously fear was not something it had learned yet. It had caught the keys, looked at them, then back to Victoria. This was a rather good learning experience for it. Learning the true nature of these vampires first hand.

It quietly watched the queen enter and offered the young human up as a meal. It was almost dissapointed it didn't get to watch the actual act of feeding. Apparently Victoria had some sense of privacy in the matter. Though he could not see the act of the feeding he could definently hear it. The sound of the blood running, hungry drinking, and the screams turning into bubbling gurgles. It was obvious the point of the attack had been the throat, likely the boy's airway was pierced not at first but as Victoria continued to feed.

Then the eating of the heart, this was brutal by most standards but the creature didn't seem to care. It had done about the same thing to the human that had summoned it. Though that memory was becoming hazier by the day. This caused it to recollect on the few images it had seen earlier. Wondering what those had been.

When Victoria had lost conciousness it had made it's way over to her, taking its time as it saw her in no real danger like this. It reached around her with one harm and lifted her up, then used the key on the chain to free her. Carefully it scooped her up in its arms and walked to the door. Lifting his foot he gave it a sturdy boot to let anyone at the outside know he wished to leave and with his hands full it was a bit hard to open the door. The force was enough to have splintered a simple wood door or even cave in a brass one. This material had looked far stronger and capable of holding up to such, it seemed made for it.

Alain didn't look at Gwen the whole time she spoke, but when she left he stood and walked into the room where Alia still slept - enviably. He walked, eyes blank, over to a mirror on the wall, then he drew his fist back, teeth clenched -

ALAIN!

He stopped, and his eyes blinked, before he lowered his hand, looking at his pale reflection.

What...? Where am I...?

In the temple... shit Alain do you even know who I am?

Suchara...

There you go...

What happened...?

Well you've been blocking me out for the better part of an hour, you have that big night and all and I can't even ask you about it, way to make a girl feel appreciated as a friend, huh?

I'm sorry... it's been a bad morning for me.

Yeah I noticed. Whered you go?

Go?

You sure as shit weren't here.

Oh. Memories. His, mine, none of them especially pleasant...

I gathered that from the punching. What's got you so shaken up? We talked about the war, you shared memories with me, was that ceremony really so bad compared to that?

Gory and disturbing I can handle, believe me, that wasn't it. It... it was the hunger... I hate feeling it...

What? What are you talking about?

That ravenous, all consuming, you'd-eat-your-mother-without-skipping-a-beat hunger. I've felt it before, on my world... it's not something that triggers fuzzy thoughts.

Alain shuddered slightly, and moved to practically collapse on a chair.

It's the first time I really felt what a human is in this world... I always should have known, I can remember it from Auroth, but... it's hard to reconcile the Victoria I know - well... in a way - and how she looked at me... before it was all a game of sorts, this time... she really would have killed me.

It's just her nature as a vampire, you shouldn't take it personally

I'm not, I'm not mad at her, at either of them, it's just that it's hard to cope with when it's something you've felt most of your life. It was like being in a hive all over again... you're surrounded by it on all sides, thousands of creatures with nothing but that singular drive... and noone else around you can feel it, can feel just how deep it goes... like the place itself has a spirit and all it wants is to swallow you up...

I take it that -

we lost more than fifty people. Weren't supposed to even be there but we got trapped. Anyways I thought I had gotten over it, but...

That's not all it is, is it?

No... I've felt the magic too.

On your world? I thought you said -

-That there wasn't any, I know, I know. I saw this man, though, and Auroth knew him... that Dark Wizard guy...

You're kidding

Wish I was... I don't know what the rest of it was, I can't even remember coming here, or the rest of the ceremony... I must have lost it somewhere after that Rovina thing... Thanks for snapping me out of it...

Yeah well I wasn't about to let you ignore me.

Alain smiled a bit, weakly, then he drew his pistol and looked at it, running a finger down the barrel.

It's strange how a world with no war can be twice as dangerous as mine...

Thats what you get for being human.

Yeah, funny, thanks. The thought that my little sister will be around for a good millenia or fifty after I'm dead, not to even mention Gwen, is REALLY comforting at this point.

Well you could always-

Don't even say it.

But Gw-

I said no.

Suchara went silent, stunned at the force he managed to put into that single syllable, and after a moment he continued.

Gwen can be, I'll love her whatever she is, hunger or no... I can deal. But I will not become that. Whatever I may be in the world I know what I am to myself... and it's not any purist bullshit. I remember what it was to be a demon, to have power beyond what I could ever have as what I am now... and I don't care. I don't need it. Auroth is dead, he was what he was and I am what I am, that's all there is. You can call it stupidity but my world was nearly destroyed by people whose only wish was power and to live forever... and I will not take steps to follow them.

But Alain...

My mind is made up. Time changes things... I don't know what will happen but I will not seek that path... so don't ask again.

Alright, Alain...

He smiled slightly, and they embraced - in a way at least, before he looked up and saw Gwen walk in. He moved over slightly on the couch for her to have a seat, before he looked down again.

"I take it it is done?"

His mind stayed closed to her, though... there was more he had to work through at this point... and he didn't want her delving into his turmoil... not now. She could try, but on this he would have to fight her, for the time being... and he could win this, at least.
