Forgotten: No one can escape. A great flash emerged above all of Aronia leaving each with short term memory loss. Years lost to the fog of amnesia. Can no one recall? That appears to be the case. Whom or what is responsible? Panic has stricken the globe. Will civilization collapse? What will emerge from the reset? Only time will tell. To each citizen of Aronia from the Global Gazette, we wish all luck.
Welcome to Aronia. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Kei paced back and forth, patting her fan on the palm of her hand. She was coming, Kei knew it. Looking around the deserted field, it was rather odd to have such an adorned wall stretch out through the grass. The length of the wall reached to either edge of the forest, almost appearing as a division of boundaries to outsiders. The door in the stone wall blended in with the rest of the structure. Only those who have passed through would know which section was the enterance and exit. Gates were funny like that. You had to know the exact words to activate the portal, but you only had to think them. This was a good defense mechanism for keeping your enemies out. Unfortunately many a portal had been activated accidentally. Hence their rarity now a days.

A soft breeze helped cool her skin from the sun. Anxiety began to etch away at her nerves. Her thoughts began to wander. Why would she be returning already? There was no emergency in the republic, nothing to call her back suddenly. Which left the only other option that she was in trouble. Hopefully trouble wasn't following her back to the republic. They had just overcome a plague a few years back and were repopulating. As she continued to pace and let her mind drift, small violets or many colors began to grow where her feet had fallen. Such happened often and was something Kei had to keep in check when the situation called for it. However, the condition was fine for the moment. It was actually a release for the small vegetations to grow. Kei glanced at the door again, keeping watch for her arrival.

Natalia's stormy eyes scanned her new surroundings. Turning, she made sure that the door was closed fully, nodding assuredly to herself. As she returned her gaze to Lexi, she blinked as she noticed her running towards a figure a bit farther down the dirt path they seemed to be on.

Instinctively, Natalia took in every detail she could find about her surroundings. She didn't recognize this place, even from pictures she'd seen in class. Usually, she would radio in to HQ if she was unsure about anything, but she was fairly certain that they would be of no use to her right now. Not to mention, they would most likely attempt to distract her with questions that didn't need to be answered quite yet. Questions with answers she didn't have yet...

At the sound of her name, Natalia's attention switched to the two women, only one of which she was familiar with. Nodding in greeting to the new woman, she made her way over to them, checking that the safety was on before stuffing the pistol into the holster at her hip. It ft alright - not perfectly - but that was to be expected as it wasn't her specially-crafted pistol.

"Hullo," she mumbles to the woman named Kei. She was slowly, but surely relaxing. Her edginess was wearing off as a feeling of serenity began to wrap around her. Letting out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding since she exited the doorway, she blinked, her eyes adjusting to the shade the archway provided.

Natalia's eyes focused on the woman in front of her. Standing still as a stuate, she allowed the thorny vies work their way up and around her body. The thorns poked her through her thin Maverick garments and she felt small bits of blood emerge from beneath the flesh on her hands and neck, but she remained eerily still.

She could feel tears welling up in her eyes,m but she refused to give them pleasure by letting them slide down her cheeks. As the woman slowly got closer, Natalia closed her eyes, silently wishing the vices would swallow her whole.

Sadly, they did not. Instead, they took her gun - no, Lexi's gun - from her holster and tossed it away. A small sigh escaped her lips as the woman continued speakig to her and thus, letting her live. Oh, but why was she feeling so suicidal all of the sudden? She'd been dead before - it was no fun whatsoever. Opening her eyes, she stared straight back at the woman.

"I'll tell you all I know and then I'll be gone from this place," she responded quietly. "I think perhaps I'd have been a bit more welcome with the police back there trying to break down your door." At this, she sent a look that was far too grave for a fifteen-year-old which silently asked Lexi why she had brought her here. It was quite obvious she was not welcome here and she wasn't going to fight that anymore.

"My name is Natalia and I am a Maverick. I was sent to aprehend or kill your friend Doryan because he has killed many people back in Trevison, my home. I arrived to the place he was hiding out just moments after hearing him kill one of my friends. Once there, I attempted to either incapacitate him so that I could take him in, or kill him - my orders were for either, though alive was more preferrable. I shot him in the shoulder..." Her voice cracked and trailed off a bit as the next few moments flew past her. "...and then.. he killed me.... Next thing I know, there's someone shooting at him while he tried to pull me out of my own death. I know it doesn't sound plausible or real at all, but I swear to you that it's the truth. Hell, even I don't understand it... Anyways.... After that, he picked me up, carried me to the door and told me to find Lexianna... which I did. Lexi can tell you the rest."

At last, done with her story, Natalia clamped her mouth shut. Whether this woman believed her or not only time would tell. Natalia didn't care either way. She'd told the truth. If she was going to be punished for that, so be it. SHe'd cheated Death once before. Perhaps she could do it again... If not, she understood why.

OOC: Shit! I totally just skipped Gwen... RoFL. I didn't even notice it until I finished the post and hit "post". It doesn't really intrude on anything Lexi does, but let me know if you want me to take it down until after you post. RoFL. God, I'm tired... I shouldn't be up right now. Stupid temp service is like "We might have a job for you, but you need black slacks, a long sleeved formal white shirt, and a ride home at midnight, even though you've stated that your only real way of transportation is city bus, which stops running at 10:45! But it pays $8.25 per hour... though you'll only get to work one day because it seems you'll be out of town tomorrow night. Hmmm... Oh well! What do you think?!" I think you should hurry up and get out of your meeting so I can tell you that I can't do the fuckin' job! WoW! What a concept!

ANYhoo... Here's the post. Let me know what I should do with it.

IC:

"I'm sorry ma'am, but good men don't kill kids my age just because they're someone else's son..." Natalia mumbled. She'd actually liked the guy Doryan had killed what seemed so long ago back at the apartment complex. He'd been one of the only people to even talk to her at school.

Not to say she couldn't get friends, but rather, she had chosen not to...

But that was beside the point. The fact was that Doryan had killed countless people - many much like her friend - innocent bystanders who just happened to get in the way.

Looking down, she noticed the vines had completely fallen away from her and turned to dust. Cute trick. Though she was free, her small body remained in the same stance she'd been in while the vines had overtaken her; the same stance she'd been in before the vines had constricted her. Her eyes moving back up to look at the two women before her, she turned her attention to Lexi as that's who seemed would be the next to talk.

The other woman seemed to be the one in control here and it looked as if Lexi would do just about anything she said, whether that be "jump off a bridge" or "go pick some flowers". Natalia had a word for that, but not knowing what other powers the elder woman had up her sleeve, she kept it at the back of her mind, tucked away.

At the front of her mind, she kept thoughts of what had happened after she'd been sent to find Lexi.... the rain, The Purple Goat, the flustered bar tender, Lexi's apartment, a water bottle, some guns and then the escape through the magical door while TMPD banged at the front one.

Not exactly the best of situations, but she could think of others she'd been in that didn't look quite so bright as this one. If she pulled her strings right, she could possibly get out of this alive and in one piece... and possibly soon if this older woman found her to be of no more use. Hey - no sweat off her back if the lady did! That just meant she could go and do what things she had to do, which included rubbing her life in the Mavericks face and finding Doryan for herself so that he could answer her questions.

Natalia watched Lexi's story spew forth from the girl's mouth. Her body remained rigid, her eyes fixated on the young woman. The first part of the story she didn't know... the history of Doryan... Instinctively, she tucked as much of this information into her brain as possible.

A thought popped into her head, and she flicked her fingers ever so slightly. The tip of her index finger brushed against a button on her hip. Had she still had her earpiece in place, she would have been able to hear the echo of the recording in her head.

Once Lexi was done with her story, Natalia watched the two women interact. She continued to keep quiet, knowing merely by the older woman's looks in her direction that she was not welcome here. A stoic expression sprawled across her face and she shifted her weight from one foot to the other at last.

Council with the others? Natalia didn't know what exactly that meant, but she tucked it into her mind nonetheless. It could prove important later on down the road. Her eyes caught a glimmer of a smile on Lexi's face as she turned to face her. Still, though, she did not smile. She wasn't really in a smiling mood.
