Alain nodded quietly, and stood, waving to Sabre as she left before turning back to the queen, watching the guards go with the drow. He smiled slightly, and affixed Suchara to his belt, and adjusted his pistol's fit on his hip before he took a breath. "Alright. Looks like it's you and I, then... I'll have to grab my armor back at the castle, if we run into anything like that armored freak before, I'll need it..." He smiled, and opened the door to let her out, then followed after, and walked back to the castle, retracing his steps from before. He was good with directions, even having never been in any place like this before... but compared to the twisted hallways and warrens of the underground and floating cities of his world, this was far easier to navigate... he smiled a little bit and climbed the stairs, then came back into the room where he had left his armor offline. Cracks were open in it, using the water in the air to convert to deuterium for his power cells. He smiled a little, sheepishly. "Okay... just a minute." He walked over and touched the waist of the armor, then closed his eyes, and the characteristic blue glow ignited, then spread along the normally invisible seams on the armor and split it open. He pulled suchara off and leaned her against the wall, then took the pistol off and stored it inside the armor, where it went. He didnt bother with the rest of the gear though, that could stay in the bag on the floor where he had left it. He climbed up inside, locking his boots into place, slipping his arms into the sockets, and finally pressing his head back against the rear of the helmet. he closed his eyes, feeling the icy intrusion of the computer into his mind. Alain Phelan Vircyn, IDC 12000691, codeword... codeword Alia. There was an instant's pause, and then a response. CODEWORD ACCEPTED. CLOSING ARMOR. The panels of the armor slid shut over him, and locked, encasing him completely in it's protective embrace, and the seams sealed shut totally, leaving no trace of their presence when it was finished. The black slits along his back and along his arms and legs glowed blue as the power cells started up, and two slits at the head glowed like the eyes of a demon. Computer, run mode four. Bilateral angle is four point five, all sensors to full scan, chectk for any exotic radiation. Unlock movements, authorization 62694. RUNNING MODE FOUR. POWER CELL BILATERAL ANGLE SET TO FOUR POINT FIVE, STANDARD MILITARY POWER SETTING. ALL SENSORS AND BIOFEEDBACK MECHANISMS ONLINE. WEAPONS AT STANDBY, FULL POWER. PSIONIC AMPLIFICATION POWER ON. ALL JOINTS NOW UNLOCKED, MUSCULATURE ONLINE. A-13 ADVENT-003167 NOW OPERATIONAL. There was a momentary whine, and he looked around first, then raised his hands and clenched them. The motions were jerky at first as the system heated up, but they were rapidly very smooth, and he looked over at her as the helmet and visor split, then slid back and he smiled at her, his head at least now visible. "Okay. Sorry that took a while... shall we go?" |

Following along at his side, they made theie way up the street, her eyes roaming the dark shop fronts. Once to the castle they climbed the great stairwell. At his door, she stopped and waited outside. She respected his privacy, though in her mind she laughed at the fact that she would like to get a better look at him. After a few moments he came out, appologizing needlessly. She figured that maybe his mental time was lapsed from crossing over. "Alright, first, we will go to the prison, then come back here, scouring everything. And after that the temple." her lips were a tight line, but her eyes regarded him warmly. She liked him, enough so that he was not also locked in a room. Turning, she moved down the hallway, making idle chatter with him until they came to a familiar door. It led into the hallway they had exited upon meeting. It brought them through the corridor and outinto the courtyard of the side garden. Stopping here, she clenched her fist about the pomel of the shortswrd at her waist, the Matter blade. She smiled and returned to her walking pace. The prison was not far off and she stopped at this door also, looking to him with slight concern. He looked odly like a golem in his suit. "Now be careful...I'm not really sure what kind of creatures Shall has running around in here." She grinned and opened the door, stepping out of the gloom which promised evening rain, and into the musty hovel of the prison |

Alain nodded and tied suchard around his armor's waist as well, so she hung next to his pistol, then followed after her, chatting a little as well, but none of it was very specific. The idle chat of two people going into an unknown danger. Fine by him, he was used to it. As they finally got to the prison though, and she warned him, he nodded a little bit. "That's fine. Scary creatures are something I'm familiar with." He took his rifle off his back, and pulled a clip from a slot panel that opened as he reached, then he slammed the clip into the rifle and slid the lock forward. A slit along the length of the weapon, much like the ones on his armor, glowed dimly, then cooled. He smiled slightly, and held his hand up slightly. "I'll go first." His helmet visor slid back over his face and locked together, the seams vanishing again, and he stepped forward, careful of his head, and swept the room with the light amplification sensors on his suit, the weapon's muzzle following his eyes as his training dictated. He moved slightly off to the side and dropped to one knee so she could come in, but he kept sweeping the room - like she said... who knew...? "Gwen - Queen, sorry - which cell is holding that armored thing from before...? I may know next to nothing about magic.... but that thing worried me. And so does what happened to Victoria when she helped it... do you think there's a connection..?" |
