Thane carefully balanced the armfuls of stuff onto one arm and picked up the lid with the other. Taking a moment to ready himself before jumping down as well, holding the lid up so it caught and covered the hole once more. He landed behind Drake and gave a grunt. Nodding in response but giving no verbal acknowledgement. He glanced at Isabel in Drake's arms. He was a bit worried, though he could hear her breathing and knew she wasn't dead. He had never known people to pass out like that unless they're deathly ill. Such nice people should not have to suffer, Drake included, he could see how worried he was although it was not obvious on his face. Or if it was Thane couldn't see it through the back of his head. |

There was darkness. 'Twas darker even than the darkest aqueduct tunnel, though those had never seemed dark to her. Nothing had ever seemed terribly dark, now that she thought about it. So why was it so now? Her thoughts began to get fuzzy, so she tried to focus on them more. It only made the pain in her head, which she'd only just noticed, sharpen from a dull throb into a splitting feeling. She desperately tried to think of something else to pull her out of this darkness, but nothing came to mind. Hell, she still didn't know what this darkness was! But there had to be something or... or... or someone... Drake. The name sounded foreign, and yet it was very familiar to her senses. Why? Her lips moved, but her eyes remained closed. Her heart beat within her chest and her breathing remained calm. A few quiet minutes passed. She gasped, or rather, breathed in sharper than she had for the past half hour... and then stillness again. Back within the darkness, she'd somehow managed to pull her mind back from being so painful and fuzzy. Wringing her hands in front of her, she searched around herserlf in the darkness. Nothing there. No one there. She was alone in this world of darkness. But why?! She screamed - no sound escaped her lips. Frightened now, she began to run - into the darkness, out of the darkness, around the darkness; straight forward, to the left and right, in a zigzag pattern. Nothing. No one. Only darkness. Feeling defeated, she slumped to her knees, face held in her hands. If only the darkness would go away. Or perhaps if someone could show her a way out of the darkness. What about Drake? That name again! Maybe Drake, the unknown person, could help her. She focused all of her mind on the name Drake, trying as hard as possible to come up with any other information on the faceless name. As usual, nothing came to her. Alas, she was truly defeated. Sprawling out on her back, she spread her arms and legs, offering her body to the darkness. If it wanted her that badly, it could have her. See if she cared! As her eyes began to slowly fall closed again, she found herself having to squint suddenly against something bright. Warmth flooded through her body, filling her with a new hope and new strength. But she could not move and her eyes were far too heavy to keep them open. And the darkness consumed her again... No. No. No. NO! Isabel's eyes shot open silently. The room was bright, but she didn't care. It was a change from the darkness she'd been thrown into, so she forced her eyes to cope. The light burned her eyes, but she cared not. Tossing her head to the side, she searched her surroundings. She was back home, in bed, tucked neatly beneath two blankets. Blinking, she murmured quiet nothings knowing full well that either of the two men across the room would hear her. Or at least hoping they would. Her breathing was wild; she was almost panting. She began to slow her breathing, relaxing her muscles and brain. Stop thinking so much, so fast. It wasn't good. Need to slow down... Again mumbling almost inaudibly, the noises her voice made not even making sense to herself, she tried to move first her arms. She knew her neck moved - that had been the first thing she'd done after the brightness had engulfed her. Her shoulders cooperated, but not without causing her a bit of pain. They were stiff and tucked tightly beneath the blankets - which promptly pushed themselves aside. But how? Telekinesis! She was gifted. And powerful. And rich. And most likely wanted. The events of the day (was it still the same day?, she wondered) flashed through her mind at the speed of light, possibly faster. Thane. And then Helmer. And the killings - so many killings! God, what had she done?! Falling from the cot, somehow she managed to catch herself on hands and knees before anything and everything she'd eaten in the past day found itself on it's way out of her digestive system and onto the floor. After a few moments, she continued to gag and dry heave, but nothing more spilled itself out of her small body. Panting again, she stared at the ground, not comprehending what lay in front of her as she tried to catch her breath again. |

Drake was worried. And not just the normal, everyday, 'thats not right' kind of worry - but seriously nail biting, hands shaking worried. Isabel hadnt moved since she passed out as they left the house, had hardly moved as he carried her all the way down to their home, hadnt spoken or do anything but occasionally whimper in her sleep. He pointed to a place where Thane should drop the stuff, and lay Isabel down on her cot, but rested her head in his lap, stroking her hair gently, trying quietly to wake her. Come on, Isabel... wake up... I'm right here, just like I've always been, if you'll just wake up... Things went on like that for a good six hours, Drake pointed out where the food was if the other man wanted any, and the small duct that ran through the side part of the room was clean and cold, if he was thirsty. Drake couldn't bring himself to move, though. he couldn't leave Iz laying there, tossing as if in a fever... he had wet a cool rag and put it on her forehead, hoping to cool it a bit, maybe make her more comfortable... but he wasn't a doctor of any sort - in the end he couldn't do anything for her, and more than anything that ate at him. Ate hat his heart. He kissed her forehead, pleading solently with her once more to get up, and stood to wet the rag again, when he heard her fall out of bed and throw up. He dropped the rag and ran to her, putting his hand on her shoulder, trying to smile reassuringly, but his worry was obvious nonetheless. "Isabel! Oh... god I thought I'd lost you..." He put his arms around her carefully and hugged her, finally able to breathe for what seemed like the first time in those awful hours... "Are you alright...?" |

Thane had set the bags of stolen goods down where directed. Then when he was told there was food and water he quickly made his way over to the two. Devouring a good some of the food as if he hadn't eaten in days. Then making his way over to the water and drinking a good bit. Once he was contempt he sat down. Simply staring at a wall. His thoughts lost in the current events and what he should do. Being free was odd. He knew that people weren't always going to feed him, he would not have a roof over his head though he hadn't for a while. He would need to find someway to supply those things for himself. Yet he did not know how. Those thoughts became lost to him as he heard the familiar sound of somehow losing their lunch, or atleast he was sure that was the phrase the gaurds used. Turning his attention back towards the bed where the girl had been laying for sometime. He thought she was sick, and so far the proof was adding to his assumption. He didn't make his way over to the two, instead he turned his attention back to the wall again and began thinking. Medicine, that was a thought. Though he never really needed it he was sure these two would. How did they live if they were here with no jobs and no money? This was hardly a house, though a great deal better than the fence he was chained to for years. Maybe he should stay and watch to get a better idea of how to survive. Deciding that he was tired, Thane then sprawled out on the ground where he was laying and closed his eyes. The chain biting into his skin again but it was as if he didn't notice. The pain but a dull normality in his life now. |

Just another escapee running wildly through the park she thought to herself as she ran over the tumbles and crowns of hills and grass. The sound of the dogs had quieted a little, she figures they had lost her after the creek. Sonia, was about twenty-five, her teenage beauty still relevant in her unlined face. Her good looks only made it more difficult to hide though. They told the world that she was a subject from Hortai, just another of those factory made humans. But truly she wasen'. The fact of the matter was that she had been rebuilt. It must have been at least ten years before that she had gotten blown up in one of the experimental chambers of the horticulture station, while using pesticides. Somehow she had lived to tell the tale, but they had kept her locked away so that she couldn't. She had been missing a great deal of skin and muscle tissue, but her bones were intact luckily. It took probly two years to get the right amount of living skin to vix the damage. It was horrible the think of though and she pushed it from her mind. Slowing to a fast walk, she continued on through the brush. After a bit, the trees split and opened to a clearing, which was bordered by a stone utility building. She could have found a way in, but something else grabbed her attention. A patch of sod seemed to be spun in the dirt, not exactly lining up with the rest. Sonia moved cautiously toward it, making a complete circle around it, before bending to further investigate. It seemed normal enough, so she twined her fingers into the grass and slid it aside. The piece was astonishingly heavy, but she moved it with little problem, revealing a hole. She noticed how the grass and dirt set like the cap of a Jack o' Lantern. At the bottom, the earth sloped away into darkness. SHe found herself too cowardly to venture down, she she stuck her head inside and called. "Hello?!" |

She heard Drake's voice. She felt Drake's hand on her shoulder, and then his arms around her, embracing her protectively. She smelled Thane, even from across the room. He stunk of blood, sweat and dog. Drake didn't smell pretty, either. Or perhaps that was her. She couldn't quite tell at the moment, for all of her senses seemed to want to combine themselves into one sense. "I'm okay..." she murmured, slowly climbing to her feet, not even noticing how she clung to Drake in order to pull herself up. "I'm okay. I just need some water. Yes, water." Her mind was working again, but her feet seemed unwilling to cooperate. Licking her parched lips, she squinted slightly and forced herself to focus on the task set forth. Take one step. Now another. One more. Almost there. Only a few more feet to go. Another step. She made it across the room finally without any major blunders. Slumping to her knees gracefully, she didn't hesitate to dunk her head and hands into the cool, fresh water. Gulping in a few mouthfuls of water, her tongue and throat rejoiced at how refreshing it was. Her head moved back above the surface so that she could take in a breath before returning under water for one last gulp. When she was done drinking, she wiped her wet face off with her sleeve and blinked. "When is it?" she asked. There was no way she could tell from where she was, for there were no windows here, but she figured either Drake or Thane would know. A noise down one of the tunnels echoed quietly and then got progressively louder until Isabel distinctly heard a voice. Male or female she could not tell, but it was a yell and she stiffened immediately. "Go to dark," she murmured. The few candles in the room went out, leaving the trio in the dark. Standing, Isabel closed her eyes and quickly moved over to Drake. Clinging to his arm, she twitched her head this way and that, trying to decipher where the voice had come from. The tunnels were long and stretched far. It would be hard to find out just how far the voice had traveled, even if she unwound the tendrils of her mind. She had just regained power over them, so she decided they would stay with her for the time being... at least until she could return to her normal, unparanoid state. |

Drake nodded quietly, and walked her over to the water, then let her go as she drank, and finally breathed a sigh of relief. She was alright... he had to keep from collapsing on the spot where he was, he hadnt slept in what seemed like forever... "I... not sure. You've been out a long time..." He smiled just a little but, looking dow to her, but his smile froze and he looked up, hearing the person enter. He didn't know who it was, and it was probably best that they just hid out like they had every other time, especially with Isabel in the state she was in... he put his arm around her when she clung to him, and shook his head a little bit. Whoever it was wouldn't find them here... he and Isabel wouldnt say, and Thane was still asleep... |

Thane stirred, the voice causing him to wake for but a moment to roll over. The chains moving across the stone floor gave a quiet grinding noise. He lifted his head and looked around the now dark room, he could hear the other two breathing and this third person was a ways down the tunnel. He sniffed the air only to realise the air here was flowing towards the exit and not from. He shook his head and turned himself in the general direction of Drake and Isabel. As if awaiting a command, not that either of them could see him to realise he was even awake. |

Sonia, listened hard, there was no sound of water, and the tunnel looked used, too often used. Going against her better judgement, she jumped down, moving the only way that the tunnle allowed. It twisted and turned, moving on for what seemed like hours. Remembering that she did not know where she was, she called out. "Hello?! Is anyone There?" Her voice didn't come back, assuring her the tunnles were probably endless. Sonia moved with caution, as she had learned ages ago in military camp. COntinueing on she still found nothing, and wondered why she had come down in the dark in the first place. She used the wall for balance as she couldn't even see the tip of her own nose. Her thoughs rolled over themselves in her head, worring her a little. She would probably only be successful in getting herself killed down here. As she thought the very sentence, her leg tangled in something and she hit the floor, letting out the first noise she had in a while. Ahead of her something moved, and she screamed. The pitch lasted only a moment, but made her own years ring. OOC: My god that's a shorty Crystal!!! Sorry guys. |

Whoever it was prowling around down here in the aqueducts was getting closer. Did they perhaps know she, Thane and Drake were down here? Her fingers tightened around Drake's arm some as her teeth dug into her lower lip. The person was almost to them. 'At least,' she thought to herself, 'it's only one person... Not the entire city guard!' Her grip on Drake's arm released slowly and she tilted her head to the side. The person was only a few feet away from the ladder leading down into their home. Reaching out, the tendrils of her mind swept over the girl's body, searching her up and down. She didn't seem too threatening... at the moment. The girl spilled down into their home. She tensed and opened her mouth. The scream left it, but it was quickly cut off as Isabel wrapped her tendrils around her mouth to shut her up. Talking traveled a fair distance - screaming went for miles. "I'm sorry to have to do this," she whispered over to the woman harshly. "But if you don't be quiet, I'll have to keep you like this all the way back up to the surface." Her voice traveled to the girl from across the room, which she was sure would confuse her, but she didn't care to get much closer, just in case. |
